Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf is available now on Steam for Windows, OSX and Linux with plans to release it soon for consoles and Android TV.

Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf features an integrated online multiplayer with an in-game lobby for matchmaking. The game includes a fully integrated tournament function that allows external community sites to host their own tournaments in-game, using the publically available Application Program Interface. There is also an Integrated Control API, which can be used to connect external equipment to the game to provide a vast array of different simulation options.

The physics engine, built specifically for golf, implements true skid and roll bounce physics, as well as accurate green speed measurements. Inside the game, users can select different swing mechanics, including full controller support; various time-of-day and weather options, including real-time integrated weather; customize their players and golf clubs; and select from multiple difficulty options to play the courses they've designed. There are more than 20 modes of play, including the innovative hazard golf and a fully customizable Method of Play Creator, containing over 50 events that can be used to create custom game play modes.

Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf also gives players a completely customizable experience, bringing forth the expertise that Jack Nicklaus and world-leading Nicklaus Design have gleaned from designing nearly 400 golf courses worldwide over parts of six decades. Now, users can become expert golf course designers and architects too. Nicklaus Design Course Forge, the in-game course designer, is the same platform used internally by Nicklaus Design for its global projects. Not only can players dabble in golf course design--they can completely customize the surrounding landscape, selecting from a large array of camera angles, tracers, and graphics quality settings. The courses are also fully geo-referenced for future integration of real-world data and accurate sun angles, based on location.

Perfect Golf has a global reputation in 3-D modeling and simulation for entertainment uses. Perfect Golf's graphics have set the benchmark and have been used during worldwide broadcasts of the most notable tournaments on the PGA TOUR to digitally depict golf course ball flights, playing conditions, and design elements on some of the best-known golf courses in the world including The Presidents Cup 2015 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, and will soon be featured in the return of golf to the 2016 Olympics.

Does anyone know whether this game is still going to be released for consoles?

It is. We are currently working on a few things that are important to the console version, but hoping to have it out in the first qtr of 2017.

Will there be any sort of career in this game? The depth of this mode seems to be the achilles heel of all golf games for some reason. Just curious if any effort has gone into this.

I think about this game coming to console daily. I can't wait.

It most likely won't be on any Steam sales I do not think.

They are supposedly working on a new version that will integrate Windows 10 and Xbox One gamers together for a larger pool of online & multiplayer competition.

It also will have a bit more modern graphical touches like lighting, volumetric grass and finally some new and better avatars.

We really don't have any idea when any of that will happen though. Perfect Golf has been on a super slow track for basically its entire existence.

This was posted by Andrew Jones recently at Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf's forum about their possible distribution methods for future iterations of JNPG:

"In terms of supporting the Steam Platform I am sure we will continue to use steam as a distribution channel in addition to any MS or Sony based systems we will be using but plan to move away from Steam Networking to Unity Networking which should make all versions playable against each other online"

I'm not sure what to make of it to be honest. I'd never read anything about Unity Networking?

Perfect Parallel continues to say yes to console versions coming. I think it will be late next Spring before we possibly see them though. It sounds like the XBox One version will be on the market before the PS4 version. I think they're going to release what will be the equivalent of JNPG 2 on the PC, which will require Windows 10, and will have new mo-capped golfers, 3D grass, AND included XBox One cross-platform playability. If I had to guess, I'd say the PC and XBox One versions of 'JNPG 2' would be released simultaneously.

How's the career in this? Thinking about giving it a go soon. I've read good things about gameplay and I like that they have a 3-click option.

It doesn't have a Career mode. Perfect Parallel are saying it will be in the next edition of the game, but seeing as how it's already a year behind its originally projected release date, and no real rumblings about its current development states from official sources, it's no telling when it will be released. Honestly, I'll be surprised if it's released this year.

I so wish this game comes to the PS4. Please, please, please.

I see now that Trackman has purchased Perfect Parallel. There are no details available yet, but this was confirmed by the OGT proprietor in the offical forum, and he'd be in a position to know.

What does this mean for the future of Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf on the PC, and particularly the console versions of a future Perfect Golf iteration? I really don't have a clue at this point, other than to say that it will probably be a good thing for Trackman simulator owners. I'm left to wonder how much attention a business whose bread and butter comes from $50,000 dollar simulator setups and annual $250 licensing fees is going to give a $40 to $50 PC/XBox One/PS4 version of the game that might sell 30,000 copies, at best, on any of those platforms?

Less than an hour after I posted my previous message here, Mike Jones came in and made the first official post we've seen about the TrackMan Golf acquisition of Perfect Parallel:

"I have traditionally let AJ make any official announcements as he has always been the corporate figurehead of the company as well as one of the creators and developers of PG. I had a chat with him earlier today about making an announcement to the PG community so something 'official' should be in the news soon. We can't just announce things whenever we like anymore, we need to get authorisation from the powers that be at Trackman so apologies for the lack of hard information but we're not always free to say exactly what we are working on.

For my part I can say that work continues on PG2. With the tremendous support and resources Trackman has given us access so things are moving faster than ever. Of course Trackman's primary use for our graphics is for their simulator and range products and also our continuing work with TV Broadcasters. In that way nothing really has changed as we have always had to give a significant amount of our time and efforts in those directions anyway. The difference is that now with additional staff and support we can multitask a little more efficiently!

As far as PG2 is concerned nothing is off the table and that includes PC and Console releases. We have already started to convert our courses over to the new PG2 graphics and things are looking good. Many of you have also seen the new UI graphics interface which addresses one of the big issues people had with PG1 and work continues on that. We still have the same passion for PG and golf gaming in general as we had when this project got underway. It's been a roller coaster and we are not done yet!

AJ will have more news so hopefully he will be able to post soon with more information. Thx for bearing with us!"

I'd say the future for Perfect Golf 2 looks a bit brighter now, even for the consoles!

That’s good news. I grew up with the old Jack Nicklaus games for pc as a kid. It’d be great to see his name on a console golf game. I think his name being tied to it will bring in more casual golf fans, then tiger did with ea. Speaking from a sim/arcade standpoint.

So much for soon - nearly a month has gone by since then
