I don't want to sound negative but this year seems to be a step back in the franchise. I love the new graphics and animations, however game play in 15 was allot better. MOM is broke with no offense regardless of the sliders. Look at the forums. I know people don't think allot of us play sim wise but there are more than you think. Some of us want the excitement of managing and not winning the World Series with the Phillies in year 2 because I'm good with the joystick. The fact that the first official roster update isn't coming out until 11 or 18 April is ridiculous. I remember when the game was released a month before opening day, now its 1 week. That's a step back. I also remember having an accurate OSFM on or shortly after opening day. Last year it was 1 week after opening day. This year that isn't even a possibility because SCEA isn't releasing a roster until probably 18 April. That's a step back. I know it sounds like I'm bashing the game but really that isn't what this is about, but look at the regression over the past year. Well enough of me going on, who else is seeing this?

As for the game taking a step back, I don't play MOM so I can't speak on that subject, but overall for me the game is a giant step forward in the franchise. Franchise mode has finally gotten something new that was sorely needed and gameplay is easily the best of the series. There are things that I wish were added or whatnot, but not having those this year doesn't take away, in my humble opinion, from the progress the series has made with this year's installment.

It has been exactly one week since release day.
Some updated impressions
Gameplay - simply the best it has ever been. the new animations with pitching and especially with defense is astounding. My son and I are marveling at the amazing plays being made and how life like the game has become over the years. The jump this year has been incredible and for me the biggest leap this game has taken since MLBTS 12. Ball Physics continue to blow me away. Balls going down the line, into the corners, the way you play the ball off the walls in different parks. It feels and looks amazing. Even nubbers off the plate look and sound life like this year. All-Star again is the level I play on with adjusted sliders and the game is as realistic as ever.
Presentation/Audio/Visual/Play By Play/Commentary - Let's just get this out of the way....Sounds Of The Show is by far the single greatest presentation feature ever for any sports game. I never used it on the PS3. I dove head first into the deep end this season and I am simply blown away. My immersion level has been taken to heights on a sports game I never knew existed. You can be as basic or deep as you want (I am going as deep as I can of course). The time investment is so worth the prize. Your level of immersion will be through the roof and your franchise will feel as close to the real thing as you can get on a console baseball game...hell on any sports game. Do yourself a favor and head over to the SOTS sub forum, download the starter packs, read the thread as the community is more than willing to help you get your sounds up and running (it is very intuitive and easy to do) and immerse yourself.
Play By Play and Color Commentary are improved this season. Much better than 15 in fact. Lot's of stories, insight and dynamic moments as I am playing through a test franchise while awaiting OSFM. Matty V has more excitement and some volume in his HR calls this season. Very easy to hear that.
Audio is improved as well. Ball of the bat sounds are incredible this season. Different hits have different sounds. You can hear when you hit that sweet spot as opposed to fisting it or hitting a nubber off the plate. The sounds of the bullpens while pitchers warm up even have different reverbs and pop depending on the parks they are in. Highly noticeable. It's always the little things that keep blowing me away with this game.
Visually the game is stunning. The parks look amazing, the PBR is making a monster difference. The lighting is gorgeous and life like. Hands down the best looking Show I have ever seen.
Diamond Dynasty - Seriously.....and this is coming from a hardcore franchise player. If your not playing Diamond Dynasty you're truly missing out on some serious fun. If you're a baseball card guy....you can't let yourself miss this mode. We have a supporters league going and are already having a blast talking cards, missions, etc. Conquest is a very addictive and fun mode. If you love table top games like Risk or Axis and Allies you must play Conquest. Battle Royale is The Show's version of Madden's Draft Champions. Again a highly addictive mode and well worth the rewards you get from victory! Diamond Dynasty is a break from the normal fun I have from Franchise mode. It gives the game so much more replay value than you ever thought before.
Franchise Mode Enhancements - Loving the Player Morale system. Loving the improved scouting using the 20/80 scale. I look forward to seeing how the draft plays out and my first off-season with Player Morale. Expanded and historical stat tracking is a huge addition.
Needless to say this game will not be leaving my PS4 till at least August (Madden 17) and even then....it will be a year round title no doubt till MLBTS 17. I feel SCEA has really poured a ton into the game this year and should be applauded.
A good patch and this game will be humming along.
But for me it is easily a 9.5/10
Yeah.....it is that good.

OMG I was playing a game last night (SF @ Boston) and Big Papi singled, and he was on first and his speed was 1.
ONE.
I am still laughing about that.

I have to say, I love this game but the thing I am most impressed with is the lighting. The day to night cycle is fantastic. The day lighting looks good but this game shines when playing night games. Playing a Fenway at night reminds of being back in the stadium.

When it comes to numbers, names and logo crests on jerseys
I remember on the streams the team being excited about how the jerseys reflected from PBR, seeing them in action and watching a slew of games over the past few days these are not right.
The shiny plastic look that PBR apparently made, are not accurate and dont have the look of real jerseys.
It's one year of the game, not a big deal but inaccurate non the less.
Hopefully they can be fixed next season.

The only things thats bother me dynamic level bug, better say there is something wrong with beginner level. All pitches are meatballs. freezing baserunners and the tranfer bug from mlb 15 franchise and rtts. when that is patched it will be an wicked game.
I love that rrts got advance day feature. Gameplay is really good. Progression in rtts and Franchise are top.

Moving this to impressions as I apparently had it in the wrong location.
It is always the case when a new game comes out that we have to nitpick the finer details. I am not free from complaints and have posted bugs to SCEA's website. But I have to say this game is amazing! I never expected that it would play so much better than last year, but it does. In particular, I find the gameplay really great. Don't get me wrong, despite lack of updated player models, the game is visually awesome. But this game really shines with GAMEPLAY. I highly recommend reducing the Fielder Run Speed, Fielder Reaction Speed and Baserunning Speed all to 3. With these minor adjustments, and the return of SOTS, the game plays and sounds so much like real baseball. Credit for these suggestions goes to Armor and Sword. I must add as well that the commentary IS BETTER. It is significantly better once you start franchise. There are lots of little details in commentary that are relevant and timely (not the repetitive lines we always hear in play now), and I am only 8 games in to franchise. Props to the commentary guys as I think they will bring commentary to a new level and can't wait for what they reveal for next year. Looking forward to the first patch, but just wanted to give SCEA some props given the minor complaints the passionate fans of this game have. Thanks SCEA!

If this is the reason, I'm not sure how difficult it would be to fix, so I'm not sure if it's worthy of a bug report given the more pressing issues that need to be fixed this year. Of course I don't play at Chase Field too often--people that play a Franchise or as the Diamondbacks would probably strongly disagree with me! ...either way, at the very least it probably should be reported and fixed for next year.

So after 7 games I have seen 3 balls hit the pitcher going up the middle. The interesting thing is so far all 3 have been balls I have hit none by the CPU.

This is BY FAR the best game of the franchise. It is as close to a perfect sports game as I have ever played. Only complaint I have is that pitching is a little too easy. Last year I played on all star pitching witch cpu sliders turned up, I had to move to HOF this year, with the same slider set, and I still rarely give up more than 2 runs. Thinking of trying out legend pitching. That would be uncharted territory for me, I have never tried it.
