Today Electronic Arts Inc. launched NBA LIVE 16 on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. NBA LIVE 16 highlights the brand-new LIVE PRO-AM mode, as well as the new LIVE Motion physics system. Players can express themselves both on and off the court with new gameplay mechanics, fresh gear and kicks, plus new ways to play.

LIVE PRO-AM provides players the chance to rise together with online team-play mode LIVE Run and the new cooperative Summer Circuit mode. In LIVE Run up to 10 players can compete in online games to 21 points on iconic courts like Rucker Park, Venice Beach, Terminal 23 and more. Summer Circuit allows up to five players to travel around North America challenging all-star teams as they try to become the true kings of the court. Those who have played the NBA LIVE 16 demo on Xbox One or PS4 will be able to carry over created player progress and unlocked gear, getting a leg up on the competition.

Players can find the perfect gear to express their personality, with hundreds of shirts, shoes, sneakers, and more available from top brands. Players can also get themselves in the game with the official NBA LIVE Companion (available on the App Store and Google Play) featuring GameFaceHD. This exclusive mobile scanning technology allows fans to quickly and easily scan their face and upload it to their in-game character.

Created characters can also be used in Rising Star career mode (retaining all progression across modes), and aspiring GMs can try their hand at running a NBA franchise in Dynasty mode. Players looking to build an unbeatable crew of both modern stars and past greats can jump into LIVE Ultimate Team, and those hoping to either relive or rewrite history can check out LIVE Rewind and Big Moments. Newcomers or players looking to build their skill base can jump into Learn LIVE, with multiple options for drills and practice sessions.

Fans will also be treated to enhanced gameplay in NBA LIVE 16 thanks to the new LIVE Motion physics system. Players move with purpose and react intelligently to try and get open with cuts and off-ball screens. Plus, new mechanics like touch passing and dribble handoffs make it easier than ever to orchestrate the offense and make the big play. In addition to all these features, new shot mechanics, shot meter and feedback give players instant information to help them learn exactly when to release the ball. With the variety of modes, options and gameplay upgrades, there’s something in NBA LIVE 16 for everyone.

I like both NBA games that are available. NBA Live 16 if nothing else is fun to play and the espn halftime show is a plus.

How does Anthony Davis look in this game to anyone who has it? I shockingly have not seen ONE screen of him or a video of him YET! What gives?! Lol

Yeah it's a decent mode but as a veteran of Live 14 and 15 I'm finding it extremely easy. I beat the championship Warriors with my group of scrubs in game 1 by 20 and have won 10-0 since by a margin of about 15 each game.

I was then lucky enough to pick up Iverson from the auction house for 9000 coins from a kind soul (Most stars seem to be listed at 30-50K)

I think the worst thing about LUT is that it almost completely wastes the legends/classic players. They are almost never in their correct team and can't be used outside of LUT which to me defeats the purpose (for example Sean Elliot, Vlade Divac and John Starks were all on the Knicks in an early challenge).

The game is pretty good however they really need to improve on their basketball logic. Like I'm baffled sometimes at the stupid things the CPU does in the game. I too am a mostly offline player and a lot of these issues I didn't see in the demo because I pretty much exclusively played pro am however in rising star I've noticed a lot of infuriating things in regards to basketball logic.

I got drafted to the knicks and the substitution patterns are utterly ridiculous. I created a small forward so off they RARELY play me with Melo, Cleanthony plays the 4?? And I just had a game where I played the whole 4th quarter down and they never subbed in robin Lopez, Carmelo Anthony, Aaron afflalo, or even Galloway. smh. The logic is terrible. It seems like because I'm playing on superstar its making the game ARTIFICIALLY harder. As opposed to better coverage, different defensive styles its like the game dumbs down my teammates A.I. in order to make the game harder. The cpu starts setting terrible screens, all of these artificial limiters as opposed to better defense, full court presses, box and ones, zones. The logic in this game is infuriating. Like it plays good basketball sparingly. But then it switches to for lack of a better phrase a "video game".

I want to end my rant with a disclaimer. I am a live homer, I don't even pay attention to any other basketball games because I LOVE live. I'm mentioning this in hopes of pointing out to the dev team that these artificial limiters don't go unnoticed and instead highlight the weakness in the a.I.

PLEASE, get some NBA level basketball minds in there, some coaches, someone to teach you guys basketball at more than a streetball or pickup game level. Because when playing pro am. The game is fun, as it is with humans. HOWEVER the a.I plays the NBA games on SUPERSTAR like a pick up basketball game and that's not ok. and hiding behind artificial limiters like bad sub patterns or inadequate teammate A.I. on SUPERSTAR comes off as either laziness, or stupidity. And like toomba said. External quality control is your friend. You guys really didn't know about the sound glitch in rising star mode? Or underwear clipping through jerseys? Or the slow framerates online? To name a few. 16 is better than 15 but its a frustrating game for those of us who really really put time into the game. On the surface its great. Focus on the core, the core. Your internals aren't right and when you peel back some of the out layers it shows VERY LITTLE PROGRESS on a basketball i.q. and/or logic level.

One more thing: the lack of a "grab the ball" button, or an automatic scrambling for a loose ball animation, would have made me break the disk if I had one at this point.the y button would make sense. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a rebound bounced and come to a complete standstill while players seem to be again ARTIFICIALLY slowed down during loose ball situations. My goodness .

Good post regarding levels....

I mentioned this in another thread that EA doesn't really improve the AI on higher difficulty levels.

The reason why is because they dummy down the human AI in order to make the gameplay more challenging.

I noticed on Lower levels that your AI teammates will react on their own defensively and on Super Star they play brainless that has always been the case to be honest in Live.

So you find yourself switching to every defender just to get them to react on the floor.

I"m hoping Sliders can remedy this situation but if not I've seen a great deal of good gameplay simply staying on Pro level with tweaked sliders to make the game stay competive without having to deal with brain dead AI players.

You guys weren't lying about the defense online.....I don't even know if it's improved much from last year as it is right now...

I haven't picked up Live 16 yet (looking for a "deal", might have a pending one )

Can you give some more impressions on ranked H2H matches.

So far I've collected.

- no fatigue
- no subs/therefor no bench minutes
- no interior defense
- almost impossible to stop drives
- 3 point shooting is to easy
- basically the same set up as Live 15

Pretty much sums up my experience so far tbh...

I'd say shooting feels a lot better than last year since there is a lot less release guesswork...but 3's do go in a high clip

On ball defense isn't horrible, but if they get in a position where they can go into a driving animation it's pretty much going to be a basket at the rim...sometimes with players who aren't anywhere capable of doing so,.,

All that said, I'm still learning....just reminds me a lot of the experience last year so far...

As far as online goes guys are just running up and down the court zigzagging at the 3 then shoot and 9 times out of 10 it's going in I've played tight defense and it still goes in I mean it's crazy and please don't play golden state steph doesn't miss anything guarded or not...there has to be a lot of tunning done to this game as always smh it just seems like a let down every year with this series I've been a fan since live 95 and the funny thing about that is 20 years later the game still plays the same no defense pure unstoppable offense on both ends of the floor with passable graphics...it just seems like Ea is great at marketing sports games for this to be on are current gen systems it hurts to have to pay as much as we do for this! As a die hard live fan I feel like when I see the trailers...the cover athletes and the first thing I say is way can I trade in for this or I'll wait till the playoffs start to get the game for half off!

Listen, I have to say I don't understand some of whom takes bad shots at LIVE, game looks great, players looks real, which I really like Ala the screen shot thread. Also I love how I can play 12 min quarters and get real to life results. I own both games and like I said love em both. Live for me is fun and that's what matters the most. Maybe I'm not in the norm, but I think they did a good job this year.

I just dont understand people that make comments like this. How does Live going away benefit the consumer ? Live going away gives us less choices. Do we really want only one basketball game on the market ? You dont have to buy the game but suggesting it goes away is bad for all of us.

Some people are not going to appreciate Live regardless of what they do....nature of the beast...

At the same time, even if we are having the time of our life, it's important as a community to give feedback. The team said that was a huge focus this year so if we aren't being up front about issues we're hurting the game more than helping.

If they give defense a boost my fun factor will increase ten fold

They need to add injuries in dynasty played games.

Tried it online head to head and Yikes, it was horrible. No lag but it was a 3 pt/dunk fest.

This is my main issue. Defense is too unrealistic and inconsistent. Don't feel like I'm actually in control of stopping scoring especially online.

What I'm confused about is that EA Said they added over 8,000 gameplay animations but when I play all still see a game that lacks core animations are these things being patch in or were we bamboozled. ..???????

# 120 bran9413 @ 10/03/15 09:48 PM
They need to do a roster update because some players are still free agents that were signed by teams months ago like Richard Jefferson. I refuse to start dynasty mode until they update the rookie faces. I don't know what's taking them so long.
