If your looking for a comparison, the folks here in the Live forum will obviously suggest Live...

There's a bunch of patch impressions in the patch thread.....the last 2 pages in this thread too...my suggestion is to just look over it- some pretty good stuff

Comparisons aren't allowed in the specific forums for Live and 2K. Look in the Other Basketball forum where it has been asked already in other threads. I answered someone else earlier although I'm a casual fan. If options and full customization are important to you then Live probably won't be for you. A lot depends simply on how much you like the player movement and controls. I really enjoy Live for that reason. It plays a solid game of basketball on the court imo.

What is everyone position on the offensive tempo? Push would probably help me get 100 plus since I only play 10 min without shooting more than 50% but i dont want a team like San Antonio running fast breaks all the time.

Would a team like GS show that high powered offense on balanced?

# 325 nick_sr @ 12/16/15 11:36 PM
Last year you couldn't make a j while being contested and now this year you can have 2 defenders on tge face of a shooter n it's going in no matter what smh.

I've always questioned if the defense adjustments work because I'm constant pressuring shooters but for some reason guys are always open for a 3

Has anyone ever blocked a Steph Curry layup? Smh

Gsme feels soo much better since last roster update but we gotta get better player movement and more realistic jump shots.

I still play the demo, I can't decide whether I want to buy it. Mainly because CPU is way too OP on the offensive boards. Has this been toned down with patches?

I think offensive rebounding actually got boosted but at the same time I don't find it OP at all. 25% of all rebounds are offensive. I think people have unrealistic expectations in this area and hate seeing any offensive rebounds. When I play the numbers are realistic.

I thought the recent big patch stated offensive rebounds were toned down? Maybe I am confusing it with blocks going back to the offensive team that was fixed.

But it's not the number of offensive boards that was the problem, it is how the players get them.

It seems to be one part of the game were physics, timing, player positioning have little impact on the outcome. If the game decides there is going to be an offensive rebound, it makes it happen. Even if that means a point guard catches it in a sea of giants.

And then to make it feel even worse, the little guys flip it back up and in instantly, again over those said giants.

It does seem to have improved but it's not perfect.

Man, bumping animations shouldn't cancel your pass inputs ....it really jacks up some drive and kick opportunities....the passing/ receiving is already a bit on the slower side

# 330 The 24th Letter @ 12/17/15 08:57 PM
Also still seeing this...

https://vid.me/gUEU

Did you guys say this happens less on AS?

# 331 Calvenn @ 12/17/15 09:12 PM
That is correct, you will see this occur less on All Star and Pro for certain. As a result of the boosted ratings on this level, cpu reflexes are alot quicker and a slight opening is almost viewed or perceived as a gaping hole from the cpu's perspective, if not shut down quickly or discouraged to begin with. You can attempt to counter with a different defensive strategy or off ball defense, to deter the drive. Simply put, is this something that should be addressed by the devs? Yes ( similar to cpu mid range shooting pre patches, which we could still generate with effort and a strategy on that side of the ball). Is there a workaround? Yes.

Another way to reduce these occurrences would be through slider manipulation. During my earlier testing phase, I successfully found combinations that elicited a pretty solid mid range game pre patch 4. I mean, I was regularly seeing 10 to 13 mid range shots per game 5 min qtrs with those adjustments in place. Of course, it was even more fruitful or effective depending on the team being played and the type of defensive strategy or approach being employed.

Patch does wonders. The game is looking a great and plays great too, at times, i think its will be my main frustration with the game, as i mentioned before, one game plays insanely good. and the next one is all over the place. I do enjoy the pace of the games, thats what keeps me coming back. With all that said the, i love this game as my alternative nba game. However, with the lack of support put into this game, and patches to fix what should have been day one stuff. I can say this will be my last experience with EA until Live makes it return to PC. great patch, excellent work trying to bring game back up to par, just a bit to little to late for me. Will still play it every now and then, but wont be getting more in series until PC release is made.

Played a lot this weekend...the game really is much improved.

I doubt I will play much from here on just because of a couple of issues I will get to. However, I will say that the game is now perectly placed for NBA Live 17.

It has taken a while...but the foundation is finally there.

Reasons I won't play Live 16 much more?

1. No worthy dynasty or season mode. One off games have nothing at stake and get old very fast.

2. The post game.....or complete lack of it. It is just really poor. The CPU shoots one handed hook shots from so many ridiculous positions. 90% of the post game is hook shots. They really need to fix this for 17.

3. Rebounding. I am hard core when it comes to rebounding...it needs to be right. In Live 16, as a lot of posters have said, it really is poor. The ball just goes to whomever it seems to have been pre determined to go to. A small guard can have the ball magically land in their hands despite two seven footers between him and the rim. Having elite rebounders in this game means nothing. For a game to be sim, ai want to feel like taking out my rebounding big and putting in a shooter who cannot board actually means something. In this game it means little. You can just play a guard at PF if you want as he will get the same amount of boards.

So, the foundation is there at last. Come back with a real next gen dyasty mode...add a ton of post moves...fix rebounding...and we will have a strong game on our hands. That 'should' be very manageable for the Live team between now and 17.

Game has made a lot of progress...for myself, if we could get more responsive passing and smoother transitional animations I would play it a lot more…

When I see a guy quick cutting under the basket, a lot of the time I can’t snap a quick pass to him under the basket and have him finish…

If I do get the pass through a lot of times hell take a weird shift in momentum and get out position, or make a drawn out catch animation, stop, then go up.

This kind of stuff takes me out of the game a bit….as I love moving the ball with the Spurs in the half court.

My biggest gripe with this game is the [lack of a] post game. It has not progressed since Live 10. That has to be the #1 priority for next year.

But the main reason I bought this game is for Live Run & Ultimate Team. In both regards I am happy.

Anyone notice that games are more challenging during Dynasty mode? Anyhow, one difference I can report this year is that the cpu does not bite on any variety of pump fakes thrown that direction on Superstar level default sliders. I commenced my Dynasty yesterday and 3 games in I have not been able to make the cpu fall for any pump fakes. The games have been very challenging (lost 1, won others by small margins after various defensive adjustments) and the AI has been eye opening. I certainly appreciate the challenge considering the lack of cpu competition last year.

So, to my point. I played a few Tip Off games today and the pump fakes were more effective again and my shots were falling with regularity. This confirms to me that there may be repeatable or verifiable distinction between both games modes and not just anecdotal observation. Again, don't get me wrong because my Dynasty mode is alot more unpredictable because of this increased challeng which is a good thing. Just wondering if others have made the same or similar observations ( i could always be wrong )and if any of the Game changers can shed some light on what I have described.

Some other observations I have made. The cpu on Superstar now plays much better defense and protects the basket much more effectively when down at the 2 min mark and full court press has been initiated (much better than 1 week ago). This was wonderful to witness! I also continue to see refinement of the game daily as it pertains to animations and player tendencies. Fantastic progress!

Well, I may have spoken too soon. I loosened up my defensive adjustments in my Dynasty and that change appears to have allowed for slightly more fakes to register with the cpu. Still believe it's more doable during Tip Off games. From my experience the cpu is more ruthless in Dynasty mode.

I love the idea of NBA Rewind but WHY can we not ANY settings??

I hate the player indicators and default camera.

Yep, just some mind boggling development decisions in this game.

There are lots of good camera views and yet certain modes lock you to one specific. Then make it worse by also locking gameplay indicators on.

I am still laughing that EA have also locked the amazing looking outdoor courts and gyms behind an online only mode.

Free marketing right there if they allowed those courts and NBA players (with all the custom street gear) in regular tip-off games. The videos and screenshots alone would sell so many people on the game.
