FANTASTIC post Heavenly Touch....Are the Jazz a T2 or T3 team? Regardless....impressive....love your approach.

Yours a lot different from mine but I think that's the beauty of it....finding different ways to thrive despite some exploits/flaws. Doing so until it is addressed isn't saying that there's nothing that can be tweaked...or that every thing is perfect...game is just too good to throw your hands up about every misstep...

I've actually fared pretty well online myself, even through I'm probably not playing at optimum level because of my camera angle....if I can fight transition abuse on Broadcast Stadium anyone can, lol

After 40 or so games, I have some further observations.

- Might be the best sports game I've ever played

- I made a bad pass, and it got stolen, and the AI had a lead and it looked like a dunk coming. Kevin Harlan said excitedly: "This one's gonna be good!!!" but I had a much faster player and actually cut it off and the AI backed out and reset their offense. There was no mention of it, or of his erroneous call... And THAT actually surprised me. Which, to me, shows how spoiled we are with this amazing game. It takes a strange situation like that to kind of trip it up. To me, it was more amazing that they didn't comment on it, than it was that there was actually a bit of a flub

- Playing against the CPU, and Anthony Davis got the ball out on the wing. He stood there and dribbled until the shot clock got to 3, then launched a brick. This used to happen all the time in previous versions, and this is the first time I've seen it in this year's game.

- I love the way the CPU teammates will cut when a defender overplays them. I'm dribbling at the top and my teammate runs out to the left wing to receive a pass. The CPU smothers him so I can't pass it, and then the CPU defender gets a bit of a lean towards center court. Immediately (and it was NOT part of the play call), my teammate breaks to the hoop. I hit him in stride for an easy layup. Just beautiful.

- Said it before and I'll say it again: "No shot clock cheese!!!" In old versions, the CPU was ridiculous at draining contested shots as the shot clock beeped down. That doesn't happen any more.

- I think this is the best year of Sports Gaming I've ever had. Madden 16; MLB 15 The Show; Project Cars/Drive Club; NBA 2K16; and The Golf Club are all GREAT games, and as good as any before in their respective sports (in my humble opinion). I'm in sports gaming heaven.

I think I saw that Miami vid you posted and while I like the angle's ability to see the overall court and where guys are, I would think it's harder to time releases because you're looking from a diagonal birds eye view angle. I still prefer 2k view overall, but the only frustrating thing with 2k view is when you cause a turnover, get the ball, and then the camera does a quick 180 pan and you have no idea who's behind you.. your guy just runs into a leg or a back and you lose the ball or run out of bounds because the sudden camera change disorients you as to your placement on the court.

They're a tier 2 team, but their offensive ranking is 24. It's actually sneaky because they aren't nearly that bad. They have a lot of playmakers and shooters, a post presence with Favors, and Gobert gobbles up a lot of putbacks/alley oops/garbage points/offensive rebounds. Exum is still available in this game until the next patch which makes it a bit cheaper. I don't imagine I'll be able to use the Jazz nearly as much when they take Exum out. His on-ball defense is intense. He doesn't have much of a jumper, but he has crazy handles, passing, and he's really fast. There are many plays where I'm just weaving in and out with him and getting into the teeth of the defense and just moving the ball outside/swinging around until I find the open shooter from top side to corner. The offensive ranking means little in this case, and it deters a lot of guys from using teams that are actually dominant.

One of the things I like with the Jazz is that not only are Favors and Gobert very good at what big men need to be good at, but Gobert's length/wingspan causes him to get a lot of steals. Guys try to pass over top on pick and rolls and he just stands there and picks it off for me (AI help). This happens a lot because he has the longest wingspan in the game (other than Caboclo I guess). This is why using wingspan teams really helps, it's what I also liked about using the Bucks (their problem is if Middleton is off then jumpshooting is really problematic as MCW is hot garbage from outside).

All in all I'd tell people to use wingspan teams that are defensive oriented, have mismatches in multiple positions/guys that can be shifted around between 2-3 positions, handles, shooters, and some post game. There are plenty of ways to beat the top teams using a tier 2 - tier 3 team.

Take the Magic for example, they are completely underrated. You have athleticism/wingspan/running across the board. They'll cause a lot of turnovers and you can get out and run but also play the half court because there are enough shooters and post up threats (Harris/Vucevic).

I tend to lean on these teams because I have a lot of lineup versatility, but the defense is suffocating due to the length/steals/contests. I can create my own offense regardless, so I don't need superstars to help me.

i think there are some defensive kinks to be worked out.

i also dont see effective double teams of stars or players that are hot by the cpu

Might need to rebalance on the defensive end. Too easy to do midrange jumpers and pick & rolls. More non-shooting fouls can also add to realism. But all in all, great game.

Here is another instance below of this happening in my Lakers Myleauge. Keep an eye on Metta. This is starting to get out of hand man. Glad to know i'm not crazy at least lol

this game is fun, and it is so fun that I can get a different competitive game from the CPU each time I play so I can miss the cheese of online. The living world coaches really strategize against you. its nice.

ex. I was OKC playing LAC and KD was scoring at will. The next quarter CP3 was guarding him, making him work for every shot. I say, hey, I'll just post him, and CP3 would strip him in the post or a double team would come.

great stuff, GREAT game.

Honestly the 9 out of 10 is fair due to the fact that no other sports game has demonstrated a genius balance of modes and improved the game play dramatically from the previous year. However I am extremely disappointed that i cannot "be the story." If I was able to choose what happens in said story ( ex. choosing to keep rocking with Vic,) that would've been amazing. But as you all know, that is not the case. I stand by this statement that 2k14 (current gen)had the best my career so far as far as story lines go. I know Jackson Ellis could be corny sometimes but that rivalry was insane. It made playing those games all the more worthwhile. I mean having to actually do whatever the wager's consequences (or see them if you won) were amazing. On top of (even though they didnt speak) interacting with your teammates was crazy. I recall becoming the starting pg (over John wall) and he approached me saying if you are whats best to win then i have no qualms over you starting and then in an rpg fashion you get to decide how to respond (like a good guy or an a hole) and how you choose to respond had a direct effect on the court ( and off ) with john wall. I mean that is insane. When it came to endorsements and agents, being poached by a bigger agency riding in the back of limos getting promised more deals more money and faster than your best friend could deliver i mean this is so much depth its crazy. Lastly the minute details like riding in the plane on the loading screens on away games or in your car to home games and not mention the rookie hazing by vets. I mean it was crazy the amount of content packed into one game.

I know they went in a different direction in 15 but even that game had qualities that 16 could use. The interaction with your coaches and the players on your team. even the weird rivalry with an nba superstar (and dante exum regardless of position, seriously why him?) were good ideas that just needed a bit more polish. if they built on what they did with jackson ellis in 14 and combined that with exum and your superstar rival it would've been much better.

I brought focus to 14' and 15' to say if they combined the narrative of 16' with the style and details of 14 ( CHOICES you make to actually BE THE STORY limo rides, choosing agents real rivalries, cut scenes that actually matter, teammate bonding and chemistry on and off the court etc) with 15's more on the court approach with the film room and coaches playing a more significant role, and Exum and NBA star rivalry (with a Jackson Ellis type approach) my career would be perfect. It as if they have three incomplete games and all they simply need to do is combine them. The recipe for the perfect my career is right in front of them just make the three parts one. ( no spike lee doesn't have to do it even though personally i enjoyed it myself). (oh and bring the ability to complain to the gm or staff back.. i really liked that touch about my career. I like that freedom to have a voice with my front office.

Hey AbuC, I tested out the corner 3 pt shooting today in about 3 games.. nailed 5/8 3's the first game (4 from the corner, 2 from each side), 3 3's the next game (2 from the corner), and my last game nailed 3 3's from the corner (he quit 3rd quarter so I couldn't shoot anymore).

I'm really not having trouble with corner shots. Check your players hotspots and see if they suck from the corners or something.. Hood is swishing multiple corner 3's for me every game.. holy **** is that dude a beast in this game!! he's only rated 70 but he drains everything. He's just slow and doesn't have moves, but if you have other guys to set him up he literally doesn't miss.

RE: CPU defending the paint

https://vid.me/RNh9

This is my experience the majority of the time....these are all CPU steals...their hands being active was something j actually liked this year...

Now there were times even in this game where my guys did some dumb swim move to take them out of position...there needs to be better awareness there...

I feel enough of what's in the video happens to even it out though...

You're on default SS, right? Even on default Pro my defenders are rarely that active and aware.

I only seem to get steals in the paint when it's so crowded in there and the CPU fires a pass that happens to hit one of my players, causing a loose ball. Rarely will my guys stick a hand in the passing lane to deflect a careless pass.

Has anyone played with the grizzles in here? OMG I think they got it right. Playing with the Grizzles last night was one of the best experiences I had playing this game. The reason why? I took them online and played about 7-10 games. I ran a lot of plays. And didn't push the ball at all. My opponents could not score in the half court setting at all. Scores in the low 40's. I had one game end 35-36. Teams couldn't fast break on me. The only fastbreaks they got were on my turnovers. I played Houston about 3 times in those games. And even though Tony Allen isn't much of a offensive threat. He IS A Defensive genius. I didn't take a screenshot.... But Harden in one game was 4-25. One guy try changing Harden to SF to PG to SG to PF. Came on the mic to say why is Allen following him every where? hahahahahaha

But offensively..... I love this years post game. Z-Bo and Gasol are nasty down low. The way I can literally kill user or CPU for going after my fakes. Once they are out of position. Is buckets... Doesn't feel cheesy at all. Because I get blocked on my fair share of drives (especially vs good defenders). After hitting a few mid range shots (on the post up face up) with Z-Bo. I would pump fake for the drive.... But Z-Bo blew back to back dunks. Why? Because he only dunks once a year lol.

This was me messing around with All Star\Sim- no slider changes.... POEs were all neutral... I'm going to play a game with the Knicks and see if there is a big difference...

Loving this game! IMO it's the best 2K Sports game since NFL2K5, with NBA 2K11 being in the mix as well.

However, now that I have had it a few weeks and the "honeymoon phase" is over, I am noticing some issues in MyGM.

For example, last night I was playing vs. OKC (I am the Wizards). Rubberbanding was more prevalent in this game than in the previous 5 or 6 combined. CPU offensive board cheese was back in full effect to the point where boxing out didn't work half the time and I didnt get a single 50/50 ball. And they were hitting some RIDICULOUS, fully contested shots. Listen, KD is KD - I get it. He should hit contested shots in the game because it's what he does in real life, but the entire game I was getting punished for playing great defense.

I couldn't help but to think - typical 2K. Certain teams are just tough to beat, even with the best gameplan. And at times I can't help but to feel like I lost more because I was exploited instead of the CPU just playing a better game than me.

This opinion will likely be unpopular, but I just can't get into the game this year. I've tried, I've learned the controls and taken the time to get used to the new mechanics but this game feels awful offensively on the ball. I feel like I have significantly less control of player than I did last year. Dribbling in particular just feels...off.

I love the fact that defense has been improved significantly. In 2k15 shot percentages were far too high, ratings were super inflated, and offense in general had too massive an advantage over defense. Defense is back, and that's great. The new passing additions are great as well, and all of the customization options are nice. But offensively, the gameplay just doesn't feel right for me personally.

What kind of offense are you usually running? Run and Gun, Flow offense (been a lot of that going around here), Iso, Pick and Roll. What has been your problem on the offense. Do you know how to use post moves?

I'm playing with Memphis in my MyLeague and I'm having a blast so far. I'm 4-2 with my losses coming against Cleveland and Golden State. They're a fun team to use if you like old school, "grind it out" basketball. Obviously, they're big three Gasol, Z-Bo and Conley can keep them in just about any game. If I see a mismatch down low or if they try to put a natural SF on Big Z, then I'm pounding the ball in the paint until the can't take it anymore.

I'm finding mix and matching their wings to be the most interesting element of the team. I'm currently starting Allen and Green, but Lee and Barnes are getting plenty of minutes, as well. I love the "scrappiness" of putting Allen and Barnes out there at the same time. When I do it's almost like I can see the life getting sucked out of the other team.

On another note, I just tried the new SimCast Live and I'm in love. The feature alone is awesome... however, the fact that you can seamlessly transition from SCL to the game and vice versa without any loading screens or anything like that really takes it to another level. I can already tell that I will be using this a lot.

Can we just have the substitution quick menu use the face buttons? the right stick BS, is ruining the flow of the game for me.

# 860 edubbs @ 10/08/15 06:34 PM
Man.....this game is good!

Playing offline vs. the cpu.

I have issues with the game just like everbody else......but I'm not going to short change the product they delivered.

I will wait and see where the gameplay patches will take us, but for right now....

Great job to the devs.
