Madden NFL 16 News Post

The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Quote:
Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

Let us know what you are seeing!

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched
  • Addressed quarterback locomotion warps on certain drop backs
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where players could receive over 100 confidence resulting in a short-term attribute boost
  • Tuned regression for offensive linemen
  • Tuned rookie deep accuracy rating
  • Tuned supersim stats where pocket quarterbacks were generating too many rushing attempts
  • Addressed issue where team could sign elite free agents for a low amount
  • Addressed issue where some free agents would disappear from the free agent pool
MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • Addressed a rare issue where certain items would not have an image
OTHER
  • Addressed issue where the commentary line and presentation would repeat for a quarterback who returned from injury
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when using multiple controllers
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when exiting a game and the background video would continue to loop
  • Addressed general bugs and stability issues

Hi, the QB AWR regression workaround is to set CPU progression to weekly. I haven't checked traits yet but check out this forum post for my analysis on CPU progression between weekly, 4 weeks and offseason.

Same here, but the bigger issue is the confidence development that happens making the qb's deadly accurate and unbalancing gameplay.

Rosters been updated yet? At work so unable to check-

Another EA gimmick gone awry. Why can't they just give us a game that is playable without all types of workarounds and house rules. This game is sitting on my shelf until we can come to a consensus on how to get a legitimate franchise going. I got the game because of the best buy $30 trade in promo but I should have known better and just waited until black Friday.

Thanks everyone for trying to find a work around to this mess.

I was going to post it but it seems you guys already know. What is amazing is that this method make confidence much more balance than before. First it eliminates drive goals that are the issue here. Second it simulates confidence the same way that with CPU teams so you don't get the extra confidence that drive goals has. And lastly confidence make sense. It rewards you for real accomplishment and it punish you for bad performance. On my test game I lost the game and look on the video how my confidence was impacted.

The game played exactly as on play now with many overthrows and good things from the play now gameplay but on cfm.

I'll edit those videos later. One on how it was when playing solo offline and the other playing 32 teams.

Youd think at this point theyd start having a short beta prior to release. People would find bugs within hours and they could be dealt with before releasing the game. Why EA wont go that direction is beyond me

I despise the setup for 32 team control compared to other games like the show but this is looking promising!

Yes. What i recommend you to do first is try it. Before doing the whole 31 team setting and setting their management in auto and coach fire off. And then you play the same way as you do with solo cfm.

About the turner I have to agree with armor. Lately I haven't seen many qb behavior that EA taunted so much. So I deleted and I started to see plays from the CPU as below more often. I would recommend you to play without the tuner as well. It played awesome for me.

How are coach firing/retiring handled in 32 team?

What about trades will CPU make them, if I offer them will the CPU allow/deny a trade if other team is set to autopilot?

Part of what I love about CFM is watching the league evolve over a few seasons. I feel some of that control is removed by this workaround.

also I imagine you make the other 31 users coach, while you still can be an owner? If you do turn coach firing off is the only thing that wouldn't be the same as 1 user the fact that coaches will remain the same? Will they make trades, sign FA etc? What about when a coach retires?

Sorry for all the ? I've never done a full control franchise, but I would consider if the game worked better. Just want teams to still make moves on their own and allow me to trade with them if I wish with the CPU having power to veto.

So Booker21...does this work around fix the LT regression in pblk as well?

Will they still sign FA and resign their own, handle draft duties scouting etc.

What if I try to trade with them will the cpu veto or will it go to full user control. No coach movement I can deal with, certainly better than seeing "insert name" generic face on the sidelines.

I've read elsewhere you should make the team you don't wish to play as commissioner, any truth? Never done any of this before but if it improves gameplay sign me up!

Why do that when you have thousands of people willing to pay $60 to be part of the beta. And even if they beta test there is no guarantee that they won't throw out a patch or Looney Tuner that will break something else. All indications are Robo QB has been tuned back in even after they QB accuracy had received widespread praise. There is no good solution to this, other than wait 3 months for all the patches and tuners to be released and then have the guys here at OS develop a manual worth of workarounds and house rules to make the game play as well as it did 10 years ago on the PS2. Very frustrating.

From personal experience after reading through the thread the QB scrambling problem happend to me sometimes before the patch even hit. Id have games vs pocket QBs that would take off and book it as soon as they said go so i dont think its a patch problem. I mean maybe the patch made it happen more often for some but ive seen it before the patch and the tuner sometimes.

The player confidence in the 2nd video looks great! It makes sense and it potentially could add to the franchise mode.

Honestly speaking, I couldn't careless about franchise, I'm a season mode type of player, give me play now gameplay with a confidence XP system that makes sense, and the game could go places. If the confidence works like that in the video, it actually will add another layer of strategy. You don't involve your receivers and their ratings can take a hit.

This video has me excited because I just want to play one season and then change teams. Hopefully, with this 32 team workaround, it can be accomplished.

If this proves out, that's all the evidence I need to show drive goals and confidence are the cause of our issues.

So, what is the workaround method?

# 860 RogueHominid @ 09/11/15 11:08 AM
Is there consensus yet on whether the 32-team control setup works equally well with or without the tuner? Or is it the case that the game plays best w/o the tuner?
