Great, that's a relief then. Now if they could just increase the mi**** window, that'd be a massive step in the right direction.

I have not played, but a few little things drive me nuts that could easily be fixed via patch.

- hate the way the hole looks. Needs to be deeper and painted white around the cup.
- celebrations and animations where they pick up the ball is bad
- and you should be able to set more course conditions

I'm sure on Arcade mode, those types of things will be possible in this game too.

In Amateur mode, yes, but you did not see scores like that in Simulation mode. RM (in TOUR Custom mode with all aids off but green grid) is in between leaning towards TW14 Simulation, but not there just yet, IMO.

Was/Am kind of on the fence. Most of my issues have already been covered by others.

HOWEVER(and this could be a big one)

Variable shot/landing, maybe!

I played around with the Night Challenge thing and it turns out it can be a decent driving range. The big thing I think am seeing is variable shot/landings. With this mode you end up hitting the same shots over and over again. What this seems to show me is you can groove shot after shot and unlike recent TWs you will have a large area of where your ball ends up instead of having them all grouped in a small circle. If this is really there then it could make a huge change in some of the really low scores. Holing out from long range shouldn't be as repeatable.

I know we have had some deep discussions on this very thing.

It was a great game ruined by cheats. TGC is ruined by cheating(and many other things ) when I played a online round on tw14 on pro mode or maybe the one a above. I had custom settings I think. it was always a solo round cause the scores were so low. I managed -21 at St. Andrews once, which is silly but I was miles behind the leading scores.
This game can't be any worse than that.
Any game is susceptible to cheating....that was not the point. Without cheating, you did NOT see scores like that.

tiger woods 07 for xbox was perfect when it came to feel and swinging and hitting your yardage.. It was pure skill
This game is a hot mess!! I hate saying that but i wont even finish my 10 hour trial

It feels like a slideshow golf game.. there is zero feel with the swing.. Try it yourself everyone. Try to hit a swing and hit the ball 10 yards . You cant do it.. golfer will hit it at least 50 percent ..
Its a laggy framerate stuttering hot mess.

Breaks my heart i was really looking forward to it

Has anyone actually tried the three click?

Agreed, but its like that with almost every game it seems. lol

I've only got a round, and 5 holes in on arcade, and only a few holes with custom and harder difficulty settings, and I'm impressed. I have to wonder if some people here have only watched someone streaming on arcade, and are just ranting, or if some people are just jumping into the preview without really looking at the options and playing quickly in arcade, and complaining.

I get some of the legit gripes, I have some as well. However, it's not as bad at all to me as some are making it seem.

I've still got several hours on my preview to go, so unless something horrific happens, I'll be picking up my pre-order. I've still yet to get into career mode so that could have an impact on me.

I've got the itch to just sit here for 8 hours and finish off my trial, but I had to hit the range tonight with my new taylormade irons, tomorrow is the wifes birthday, and saturday I'm getting out to play 18 with my new clubs. Busy weekend coming up unfortunately.

I want to love it and I want to hate it.

I'm still baffled by the lack of cloudy day options, by the lack of options, by the crappy create a player, by the putting etc.. But I can't stop playing. Don't know if it's boredom and having a free ten hours or if I like I but I think I like it.

If I buy it I sure as hell hope they patch it soon to run a little smoother and add more features (cloud cover even? Seriously?) and lots more courses

I haven't... I don't want to lose precious time out of my 10 hours of play time to check it out. If I've seen all I want to see and I still have a few minutes left, I'll give it a go.

I think the game has a lot of promise to build on but it definitely feels a little bit "beta" with some of the jarringly inaccurate commentary : "that`s put him at the back of the green" - when your 2 feet from the cup in the middle type of thing, and the kind of "scrambly" feeling head to head:

I played head to head with a friend last night and was a little underwhelmed with the way it pans out. You catch glimpses of the other player or his ball landing occasionally but for the most part it feels a little like "both of you playing golf at home and talking on the phone while you`re doing it". It`s kind of glitchy - as far as ever really seeing each other, and when you do sometimes it`s made choppy by the cut scenes. The "hole clock" needs to be optional or adjustable, that`s 101.

Golf isn`t a rushed sport and it would go a long, long way towards making it fun playing a friend if you could spectate on each others shots, and choose your own pace. As it is it seems more geared towards blasting through as quick as possible playing a stranger/strangers with no patience. That should be possible but it should really be the opposite - geared towards playing with a buddy online, watching each others shots and commenting on clubs, lies, etc with the "option" of turning on a clock and blasting through with little contact.

There looks to be sick potential with these graphics after watching some of these videos. It's the little things that are missing. I wish EA would hire us to just make a list of what we wanted and fixed it. With it not being a yearly title is that too much to ask?

If you do end up trying it and have a little time, try and play around with the difficulty settings in 3 click. The stream I watched where someone was using it, the meter was deathly slow, to the point that I'm not sure how you could ever miss either the power or aim.

Honestly I'm having fun. Gameplay is actually pretty fun. Some choices make no sense to me though.

In a game that is an individual sport and really really really meant for a single player career mode (way more suited than nba nhl or mlb) why did they make the pga tour mode so lame and uninspired. It has a couple nice options. I like that you can set your outfits for the different days and I think the option to play partial rounds is cool although I probably won't use it much. The CAP is downright awful. And I'm looking at this bozo 90 percent of my time in the game. Even how my career started was stupid. I played the Web. Com tournament at Sawgrass missed the cut after day 2 at 162 but somehow managed to be top 50 players to make the tour. Uhhh......what??? Leads me to believe there is no plan in place if you shoot real bad they just make everyone make the tour anyways. I'm hoping the deeper I get into it the better it gets and I'm having enough fun to overlook the flaws in gameplay but if the career mode remains as uninspired at the end of my trial I'll probably pass on this one for now.

After just playing my second round of 18 it's growing on me. Using a custom difficulty where I made everything as difficult as it can be it felt better. I still hit even par as a inexperienced player but, it's not like there are a ton of things to learn like other sports games.

It's kind of nice to not have a huge learning curve to enjoy it

This I agree with. Trying to make a video game as tough as golf would be impossible. Also, who wants to shoot +28 playing a video game using pro tour players that haven't shot that since they were probably 6. I think golf is really the toughest sport to make into a legitimate, "imitate real life" video game there is.

How do I see the spot I'm hitting to? In the tutorials I hit Y and it'd go up to allow me to see the area I'm trying to hit to but in the game the Y button doesn't seem to do anything..

Is there any way to get rid of the quick rounds in pro mode? With only 8 real courses, the last thing I want to do is burn through them playing 5 holes a round.

Agree with a lot of people on here. Seems unfinished, like nhl having no EASHL. They should be able to incorporate the game face ffs. Putts look like they are on sticky paper, no bounce or resemblance to the movements of a real ball. Sometimes my putts fly towards the hole only to abruptly put on the brakes and stop at the very edge. And where the hell are the pre hole flybys?? It always helped me learn the lay of the hole playing on hardest difficulty with no aim.

We are stuck in a tough place here as those of us jonesing for good golf will buy it at 60 bucks when it's probably worth 30. Thanks ea for proving we will continue to buy your hurried games because we love sports so much and will find things to like, just to convince ourselves we aren't fools.
