Ah, I miss the days of no digital, where you just popped in the cd and played, no installing files or anything. Lol, I miss my classic Star Wars games, I had some favorites!

Man, I'm more already hyped for this game than I have any right to be.

I seem to have missed the details on the radio show - can someone summarize for me?

I also feel like the current feature list is probably just stuff that is 100% complete at this point. They didnt even mention Road to the Show or Franchise, which are the two most played modes and are sure to get some attention.

I don't think we have any details yet, not that I've seen anyways.

Graphics were already great so this isn't high on my list. We already had directional batting based on the timing. Most of the other features don't appeal to me as I am a franchise player.

Lacking is rain delays, cancellations, double headers, open and closed domes based on the weather. Even wind doesn't factor into the outcome much as it is really isn't variable. Should be an option for the true simulation players. Instead they keep focusing on areas that really don't matter.

I think Madden tried the radio approach and if it is even remotely like that, then please put me down for a pass on that option. MLB The Show is falling into that Madden downward slope where they are adding what THEY want versus what is actually in baseball such as working weather!

The excuse was power and the means to do so. PS4 is more than capable of handling this.

When I think "radio show" I think of recent FIFA games, where you've got the announcer running down scores and highlights from other league games while browsing RttS menus and whatnot. It's nothing groundbreaking but it does help immerse you in the events going on around your player/team. This combined with the XP-based reward system leads me to believe they're taking a few cues from EA's soccer sim this year.

This is my understanding as to what it will be. Ramone said as much on that podcast.

If you're talking about Madden 06's play-by-play announcing, I don't even understand how that is radio. Commentators on radio are significantly more detailed than their television broadcasting counterparts, because they have to create the image for you. Madden had significantly less than any other year. Do you even remember what it sounded like?

I hardly believe an audio filter qualifies for something being radio-like, and they really fumbled on this one, no pun intended. It was a lazy effort for being different while being less of something that was truly better in Madden '98.

Anyway, SCEA isn't doing that. As others said, probably just "news around the league," which is great IMO. If they can't do Sportscenter, this will work just fine for me in franchise!

The next step though will have to be the game commentators relaying some of the same things. Stats, standings, player performances, player transactions, yada-yada. They throw some things in for the game, but it's really just Matt talking it up and nothing else being added. Someday those algorithms will fall into place, I just know it!

Totally off topic, but if you've never seen the pbs documentary Baseball, go buy it! I just finished watching the whole thing in one day, about 13 hours!

Gotta call this out. Just have too. It's wrong in so many ways.

This team and game should never at this point ever be mentioned in the same breath as Madden. And although I love Madden 14 and am playing it more than any Madden since Madden 2005/07 for the PS2, The Show puts out a product of the highest quality offline.

I am sure the evolution of this incredible game will continue on the PS4. Give them a few cycles to add more to the already marvelous simulation (of the greatest sport) ever to grace console gaming.

This game owns my soul. No reason it will lose me again with MLB The Show 15.

Yeah I want more stuff. We all do. But calling them out and lumping them in with a game that has been complete misery for a decade (till now IMO) is really short sighted and complete hyperboyle.

Just my 2 cents (much like yours as well I get it)

100% spot on. Comparing the Show to Madden is like comparing steak to cotton candy.

A&S and Rules, I just want to be the happy medium of this statement.

SCEA San Diego is a company that wants to make money, and they work below this bigger enterprise called Sony. I might be saying some of these names wrong or whatever, but there will be instances where Sony might say something to them like, "We're making this thing called the Move, and you're a first-party title. Put it in the game." Same thing with 3D. I'm not saying these things wouldn't be in the game or they didn't want it, but I'm sure that time to time there are some specific things that they have to say/do each year where their hands are tied. Tiburon might be restricted the same way with EA, if that makes sense. The guys who make Madden could be the most talented, devoted developers in the world for all we know. To provide my own anecdote, I personally knew two Blue Shift developers and one Kush developer who all had something to say about what VC required them to do for the 2K series against their will. Anyway, enough said on that.

The second thing about them making money is that they might want the greatest baseball simulation in the world, but this can only be made in a perfect world. In a perfect world, what OS wants is not what the casual gamer wants. We get our fix (I truly can't say how many times these guys have responded to my nagging so kindly and have implemented most of what I always wish to come true, perhaps like the lighting this year), but at the same time they have to throw in things that appeal to the non baseball gamer. And to be honest, sometimes that's the best flavor to test your game with. Try it out with people who don't know baseball well (except like the basic idea of it) and have them call out certain things that none of us would ever see, consider, or possibly even enjoy. Then take notes on it, and go back to the lab to make some magic. Directional Hitting just might be one of those things, as could have been Pulse Pitching, Dynamic Difficulty, Diamond Dynasty, King of the Hill (I don't remember what the mode was called but you get the point), etc. Now some of these features we actually love and enjoy very much, while some of these things are just meh, you know what they are. But they want to sell this game to a larger audience, and sometimes it just means doing things that will appeal to them.

So no, they are not like the Madden developers in that I believe their intent is just, pure, and always puts us at the forefront. However, you have to remember that year in and year out, they have to make a game and it has to profit for them to keep making games. When games get stale are when they have the same thing over and over, even when it's an improved version of that thing. So a new hitting system comes into place, like analog controls did, or quick counts, locking on one player, etc. Some great items have been implemented as a result of hearing from the masses, and OS is the smallest percentage that thinks we are such a large part of the fanbase. We may be most devoted, but they could erase us like that and it wouldn't make a difference in sales. But they don't, and that is really what makes them different from the rest, including Tiburon. We are truly lucky folk, but everyone needs to understand that back of the box features come and go, games can feel the same for many years, but they really should not be thrown under the bus for it. I'm not really going to say their hands are tied or anything, but you just have to remember that they have to make money and even their bosses have bosses.

Good points by all of you!

That was probably not a fair comparison on my part. I am getting tired of asking for the same thing for the past ten years as working weather, cancellations, double-headers are such a big part of baseball. Other games such as F1 have mastered the weather system and it disappoints me year after year that SCEA refuses to add this. If you want a TRUE SIM baseball game then this needs to be added. Again, make it an option so that we can truly enjoy the game.

I agree MLB The Show is fantastic in so many ways. However, it has become stale the past few years as they keep focusing on things that really are not that exciting to some of us. Each year it is the same for people like me. Ask for working weather that impacts the gameplay...............end result ignored and another year goes bye. Again, you guys are right on many levels as Madden wasn't the right choice of words. I said Madden cause that was a game I used to enjoy before they started catering to the arcade masses bringing the game to it's knees. Same commentary, same focus on so many things that are not impacting the action on the field. Too many bells and whistles that don't bring enjoyment to the real sim players.

Rules,
I'm all for dynamic weather as well. Having realistic cloud coverage and different types of clouds, that would move across the sky in real time would be awesome and give so much more life to game. for years the sky in the show has been very weak, and mlb the show on the ps4 had to be the worse of them all
.

can you imagine how beautiful the game would look if they could replicate skies like in these screen shots

I really hope the grass and dirt in all the stadiums get a major upgrade in 15. Because they look pretty bad in MLB 14 The Show PS4 version.

Especially the infield dirt.
