I was really excited for this game. Watched a ton of videos since the day it came out for Xbox users (EA access and demo), finally got around to playing the demo on PS4 yesterday, had fun all around...

Unfortunately, I can't see myself going deep into this game without gameplay sliders and player+roster editing. 2 years in a row without these options.

Watched 2 CPU vs CPU games, 10 minute quarters, All Star just now.

Clippers vs Mavs
Knicks vs Bulls

With all sports games, I like to see how the CPU plays against itself, because to me that is a good indicator of how good or bad the CPU AI is in the game. Needless to say I was disappointed big time. Without USER input, the CPU AI is basically brain dead and soul-less.

Both games, teams played out of character. Players posting up that don't in real life. Players shooting the ball a lot when they don't in real life. Players over dribbling the ball when they barely dribble in real life. CPU don't run plays at all until the final 2 minutes of the game.

Sure they will sprinkle in a few pick n roll attempts here and there. But man I tell you, the CPU can't execute the pick n roll even if their life depended on it. I would say the FAIL rate was 98%. All game long the CPU regardless of team ran ISO. Ball handler just mindless dribbling in place for a good 15 seconds, then they would either throw the ball in the post or to some body at the 3pt line for a last second bail out attempt Which I was shocked how high of a percentage bail out shots go in.

Speaking of going in, AND 1s happen way too often, almost 98% of the time. Circus shots go in way too often as well. Biggest eye sore is the amount of hook shots you see big man do in the game. Kareem retired a long time ago.......

Offensive rebounding is a problem too, only 3 per a team in both games. Not enough on ball steal attempts or steals per a game. Not enough fouls and not enough foul shots missed either. CPU didn't make any offensive or defensive adjustments in the game until the final 2 minutes. Which is a shame. CPU need to make adjustments ASAP. Because they don't points in the paint is sky high, about 62 for each team. It a shame really considering a USER could adjust individual defensive setting for players. I was expecting fronts and deny on the post, never happened. Expecting forces and double teams on the PGs, never happened.

So a 5GB SOUL INJECTION patch is needed for the CPU AI. Players lack individuality and their own real life counterpart identity. Inject real life team specific plays and play sets. I want to see the triangle offense, lob city play like lob city. Clippers attempted ZERO lobs.

Like I said yesterday the game is FUN when a USER is controlling everything. But the CPU AI is just brain dead. Watching the CPU play against itself reminds of play ground basketball. No plays, just ISO with everybody just doing mindless dribbling thinking they are Allen Iverson dribbling in place and doing uncalled for bail out shots yelling Jordan !!

So patch in the following:

1. Highlights, halftime and post game back. Without it the game is just so blah.....

2. Real life team specific plays and sets.

3. Real life player tendencies. No way should I see Tyson Chandler and DeAndre Jordan attempting 20 shots in a game from the post. No way should Chris Paul and Derrick Rose just have 2 assists. No way should Rose let Jose Calderon stick to him like glue and settle for fade away 3s instead of just blasting passed him with his speed advantage.

4. Severely tone down the AND 1s.

5. Severely tone down hook shots.

6. Severely tone down circus shots and bail out shots completion percentage.

7. Make the CPU run plays. Way too much 1 on 1 ISO going on with a last second bail out attempt. More ball movement, more player movement.

8. Make the CPU make offensive and defensive adjustments much quicker. Adjusting at the final 2 minutes of the game mark is way too late.

9. More mid range attempts.

10. More offensive rebounds.

The potential for greatness is there, seize it !! The AI needs a mega boost in the brain department.

I like the game, but it's just way too easy even on superstar. Any tips on how to make it more challenging?

PLEASE READ THIS POST EA......

The game has less issues if you play USER vs USER games but some of us which might be the minority will have severe issues with this game when facing the CPU AI.

If you are looking for a game to just pick up play and pull off moves to satisfy your own gamming experience then Live 15 is probably the game to get.

But if you are looking for a game that has competent AI on Next Gen consoles I'm not sure this qualifies yet.....

The more you see the game the more you realize your getting generic players on the floor despite their skills and abilities.

I just don't get why it's been a repeat and rinse with the same problems year after year in terms of having the players show some form of NBA skills and different styles of play.

Chris Paul shouldn't be playing like your average ordinary guy from the local gym or YMCA in NBA game.

I'm not even sure if that many people will even realize or care that the Clippers simply don't even play like the Clippers and you should fear their big's being able to play above the rim vs you but in this game they seem as grounded as you would expect from Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitzki in half court sets or on the fast break.

I would die to see one guy on here capture a Clippers game where Paul executes a alley oop to Jordan or Blake in a realistic manner.

Some tips:

Take time to learn the nuances of your player's signature dribbles (holding RS in any direction) - it can create open space for a pull up jumper or drive to the basket.

You can adjust shots (layup/dunk) in mid-air by pressing the shoot button again while your player is in the air.

EA broadcast! Most people seem to like ESPN broadcast but this cam is my favourite. Of course I don't know all the slight changes the ESPN cam has for each stadium in the retail version.

A quick comparison of Live 14 and 15 I made. Nothing special.
http://youtu.be/0bWUpL-QtcI
(embedding doesnt seem to work for me)

as far as impressions go, I'm enjoying the game but obviously there are numerous hitches. I wish teams played a bit more like their real life counterparts, the other game spoiled me with how the CPU plays. Animations in the paint are really nice at times, but too many AND 1's for my liking. Dynasty Sim stats are still strange with a lot of players averaging between 20-28ppg.

The EA roster guy is active on here...can he chime in and guarantee us rosters will be regularly updated?

I paid full price for LIVE 14 and got badly burnt. Remember this?

http://www.operationsports.com/featu...p-to-promises/
He answered this already in the roster thread. When I say the rosters aren't set, it's last minute stuff like guys who didn't make the 15 man rosters. Don't worry...the game isn't missing LeBron James.

You don't have the game yet, correct?

Live '14 with all the tweaks and Live '15 are about neck and neck for me right now to be completely honest.

I got over the "newness", graphics and crowd noise pretty quick because of the way the A.I is playing...which is the biggest thing for me...

I know there will be game play updates...and I hope they come sooner rather than later...but the fun factor has definitely died down...

Where this game does shine though is HUM vs HUM. I'd play online more if not for the wonky releases.

Likely will have it within 24 hours.

Just watched Skillz vids and the cpu pick and roll is terrible..Yet in the DEMO I am playing the cpu is using the pick and roll and pick and pop really well. Kind of confusing.

WTF's vids are nice also...

Are you all on the same setting / level?

I'm playing on Superstar, which is giving me some really good results. A few examples of CPU movement:

This was CPU vs CPU

Quick, crisp movement

I love this one because of the quickness the screen comes from Dragic, to pull up off of the drive too.

I got quite a few from last night from the Quick play teams that I'll try to get from facebook (youtube wasn't working for me to upload) (which I wasn't even aware was in the game). It's basically the games that have already been played, I guess with updated Synergy? I'll try to check to see if those are the teams that have had a Synergy update based on the first game.

Superstar is giving me some really good results though. I have verified that plays can be and will be altered to give the teams the right style of play as well.

# 272 WTF @ 10/30/14 09:47 AM
Also, someone asked about the Spurs, the ball movement is really well done on Superstar for them. They whipped me by 18 or 21 because they'd get a semi-wide open look from ball movement, I'd anticipate a shot so I'd jump to block, and they'd simply drive right past me. I'd collapse, they'd find another open man. It was mindless fun for them I'm sure.

That is excellent news. I am going to get the game tomorrow. The DEMO has won me over. I have had the CPU execute some great stuff on the demo.

I think people can be a bit harsh on LIVE. I just popped 2K in for a quick game and Pat Bonner was doing crossovers and Tim Duncan pump faking near the 3 point line. It is a great game, but people tend to just ignore it when a 2K game does that stuff.

I personally am finding 2K hard to play due to the rebounding issues, but also due to the fact I am playing FIFA 15 a lot. After you experience the physics in that game, it is hard to play an 'animations' based game as they don't feel organic at all / feel likes I am going through a set of pre set animations. So, even though LIVE is not even close to FIFA's level, its had a big impact on my upcoming purchase.

I really hope the LIVE team can reach 'FIFA level' one day as it is clearly light years ahead of anything we have for basketball at the moment in terms of physics and being organic.

This is the game I played last night against the Clippers. Ignore the 2 times I accidentally press Alleyoop from full court. I was in the midst of pressing circle to double team in traffic, didn't realize I had the ball I'm uploading the youtube as we speak as well. I just re-watched the first and part of the second quarter, and not a post play was called for DeAndre. Blake shot some fadeaways from the post. I'd rather them have been face up and shoot type of shots. I think once Synergy updates based on their play this year, we'll see some even better results.

Man, I just have to ask: what 2k forum are you visiting where issues are being ignored? I'd like to go there for a break from the madness once in a while, seriously lol...I honestly only see that kind of stuff here, where some of the harshest 2k critics are mum on Lives issues....

The physics aspect is what keeps me coming back. I was going to post something regarding physics. I've been trying to go back to Ncaa football 14. It has the infinity engine., which is a early physics engine. Needless to say I can't really enjoy it, after playing Madden 15 for the last few months. I'm very big on the physics movement, and I truly believe all sports games should be physics based. I think Live is a solid game and I just can't play sports games that don't have physics. I see a lot of guys here trying to justify their purchase of Live. You don't have to guys. It's your money, do what you like. Screw what other people think!!

A Tim Duncan 19' jumper. I don't like the back to the basket pivot he did real quick, but did like the fact that he shot from here.

I don't have time to sift through my hundreds of videos, but as 24th will tell you, I've got the good copy of Live

You know, I'm not a big basketball fan when it comes to watching it on TV, I do enjoy playing it, and enjoy However with the 6 hour free trial from EA Access... I thought to myself what the heck, I'll check it out. I was impressed. Visually I think the game is fantastic. I had a bunch of fun playing it too. Although the controls were a bit too advanced for me to just pick up and play like I wanted to, it led me to struggle a bit, but once I settled in I had fun. Again, I'm not a hardcore basketball guy, and I only played a game and a half, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was fun, it looked great, the presentation was nice, the commentary was good, once I got a hang of some of the basic controls, I had a good time with it.
