Definitely in the 3-2. the 4-1 honestly is our weakest set in freelance plays etc.
The AI can both just move the ball and look to score. In set's where we have excellent coverage like the 3-2 they can score from any player in any position. Or I should say attempt to score. You can still defend them well and the AI would take a bad shot.
So there are still possessions here or there where you put them in a situation where they take a more difficult shot than they should have because they took to long to switch from moving the ball to trying to score.

You're now putting in OT in the likes of davez.. gotta love it!
This is great. Absolutely great. I've been waiting for this to happen for years now, but there's something I noticed though. At the 5:59 mark, Parsons switched to Duncan. Mismatch? Maybe not so much considering Parsons is 6'9", but after that down screen set by Duncan for Green, I figured that they would explore that mismatch, how little it might be, a little bit more. I mean, Duncan barely tried to seal Parsons and ask for a pass to the post.
At the 6:23 mark, this time Ellis switched over to Duncan. It would've been nice to see Duncan at least try to seal Ellis and ask for a post pass, but instead, he let the offense continue to run resulting in a Parker jumpshot.
Having this freelance offense is the game is great, don't get me wrong. But imo, if a mismatch like these happens, I like to see the AI exploit it rather than run what still looked like a little bit of a scripted set. I know these are not set plays but the AI should be more aware of mismatches that occur, because these do happen.
Other than that, hats off to you Czar and the team.
What about offball movement are we able to move around with always looking at the ball without turbo
I am not certain I understand you. Do you mean chasing a guy off a screen ? We default you to help position when your not guarding the ball so to initiate a chase you do need to use turbo to follow a guy around screens if that is what your asking.
You can still deny by holding the right stick down.
With this added in I have to ask the question regarding POE. If I'm running the offense through Timmy or Noah can they become facilitators down low through this freelance offense?
have off ball screens been tightened up so plays like the Korver one in the opening function as designed?
I think you will find the off-screen plays to be the cleanest they have been.
We have different tuning for ball screens and off-ball screens so it looks much more structured. We don't have those guys head hunting anymore so now that they have a defined spot to be the man running off of them has a more defined route and it just looks better most plays.
You can really see the difference on floppy plays. In my mind it is the best I can recall in the series. Allowing us to add a floppy twist where the guy who screens receives an immediate back screen and then off the big screen. It's not super turbo speed but the movement looks clean.

Sorry i meant without but yes you got the gist of what i was saying
hey, Czar. this isn't completely on the topic of freelance offense...but it kind of relates to the "hand-off" pass shown at the end of the video.
i've been wondering something about the pass reception animations. for a while now i have wanted the ability to catch a pass and smoothly blend into dribbling without stopping...like being able to catch on the move then dribble without a "catch animation" that makes your player stop and turn his body. this would be implemented by simply holding the left stick in a direction as the ball is in the air, which would "pre-load" the receiver to catch and continue moving and blend into dribbling in whatever direction you were holding the left stick. this can already be done in transition, but in the half court the catch animations usually force the player to STOP and TURN as he catches the ball.
it would be great we could catch on the move in any pass situation, and the direction of the movement could be controllable....
like I said, this topic kind of kind of relates to the "hand off" pass - how the man receiving the ball continues moving seamlessly without stopping as he receives the ball. this type of "moving catch" just adds more explosiveness to the passing game and would make the game feel so much faster and more life-like.
it just bugs me sometimes when I have a receiver moving but the catch animation makes him stop when I wanted him to keep moving. kind of ruins the flow and slows everything down, allowing defenders to close in when the receivers keep stopping when they catch the ball.
These additions looks amazing. One question. As I'm mainly a MyCareer guy, will CPU play this way in that mode as well? Because that would be incredible and a HUGE improvement to the mode

This is the best thing to come out about 2K this year. Absolutely amazing gameplay. I'm too excited. 2K14 was clearly focused on graphics and getting all they could out of the next-gen consoles, now we're getting a basketball game! Release day can't come soon enough!
czar, how is the help d? running plays is very nice but there has to be some help to open shooters. help d was nonexistent in '14, particularly once u go higher than the pro level.
I actually feel they helped too much. Leaving dudes open at bad times.
We assign it to a coach so my assumption is that where ever that coach is assigned his freelance would follow him.
Curious what you had for GSW and Kerr, since he hasn't actually coached and the offense Jackson ran was somewhat shallow last year with few secondary options that resulted in a lot of isos, so there might not be much crossover outside of a lot of Curry P&Rs.
Kerr talks a lot about ball movement and triangle principles, and Warrior fans are expecting a little Spurs and a little Phil Jackson given his background. Wonder what you decided to go with given little concrete info to go on.
This is real exciting, Czar. You essentially designing the game you want to play and handing it down to us. I can live with that arrangement.
I don't know where to ask this so I'll ask it in here. Since we will be able to know our opponents strengths and weaknesses will the cpu know ours? and will they try to exploit it?
Hello da-czar, can you tell me if playbook of the retro bulls have been improved or modified because in the intro we can see a backdoor step of Ron Harper.
