NBA 2K15 News Post

LD2K answered a few questions about NBA 2K15 online leagues earlier this afternoon. Below are some of the details.
  • Can adjust # of teams, season length, difficulty/style, quarter length, trades, playoffs/Finals & custom rosters.
  • Can view player & team stats, standings, team rosters, trades and more.
  • Flex scheduling is in.
  • Admins can reset games.
  • No fantasy drafts this year.
  • Custom rosters are in Online Leagues, you could set up the rosters prior to setting up the league and having users select teams from there.
  • CPU controlled teams are in.
We have contacted 2K for a few more answers and we will update if we hear back.

Fellow online hoopers, I feel your anguish, your disappointment, and in some cases your rage about some of the omissions. But let's not act like 2k didn't tell us from the jump that OAs wouldn't make it in 15.

With that known weeks ago, the community were waiting for a confirmation of the customization aspect which I am content with in an irrational battered woman sense.

2k has taken us on a roller coaster ride with the additions, omissions, and ignorance of glitches that have confounded us all. So with basic admin options back in online leagues, we have the ability to play other humans on hall of fame sim settings for the duration of 12 mins, with a guaranteed chance to finish a season, even if it's one and done, is a bargain I'll settle for any day of the week.

As for the custom roster feature; if it works, gives the community infinite options ranging from multiple season OAs based on season to season roster uploads that account for progression to fantasy rosters and even legend team roster leagues.

2k, the rational league heads will settle for this bargain for now, only if you build on this iteration to eventually bring us what we all feel entitled to on this generation of consoles, that being a true online association in the vein of maddens incredibly immersive connected franchise modes. That's right, I'm challenging you, sim baller, davez, leftos, and who ever else worked on the awe inspiring myleague. Seriously, bring that bad boy online in 2k16 and all of the abuse will have been forgiven and forgotten and swept under the rug (Ray Rice style). And if we don't get myleague online next season, the tape of the abuse will be made public and shake the Visual Concept empire in Novato to its core. And with that, I'll wind down my postings till the game releases as there is now some peace of mind knowing that I can safely retire last gen 2k and it's online associations that although flawed, still allowed us play multiple seasons, save our playbooks, practice our plays (omitted from 2k14), sign FAs, and customize sliders. I know I know, it's back to the future for us online hoopers that have seen it all when it comes to this mode that we all love and the majority shuns, yet 2k says #ourtimehascome?

No Fantasy Drafts is no big deal to me because I would never use them anyway, but no muti-year league kills this mode for me. I'm not interested in playing any of 2k's online franchise type modes until they're at least on par with other sports games online modes.

#WhenTheyBuildItTheyWillCome

They still have a lot of work to do.

Agreed.

Can't speak for others, but fantasy drafts balance out teams, this is a big deal especially with a one season only online league. With no fantasy draft, guys who get stuck with a Utah or Philly are going to have a long year unless they do some crazy trades. The uproar is justified imo.

Wow I didn't even know fantasy draft was out the game. I feel bad for the online league guys...fantasy draft is a must

Good point about the fantasy draft. If yall really wanted to still do a fantasy draft you could setup an online fantasy draft like a real fantasy draft on ESPN setup the pick order then actually draft online then manually do all the moving in a roster file. Load the roster file to your association and boom your done. It did add some time but I don't think it is that hard if people really wanted to do it.

I mean, we do not have fantasy draft but we have custom rosters, haven't we? The thing is, just make the draft somewhere else and then edit the rosters.

The important thing is as someone said already that this WORK. And also that we have editable sliders, if not this is a disaster.

Sounds good, except the part about no fantasy draft.

# 68 Pared @ 09/26/14 10:01 AM
I've never seen more fantasy draft cents in a discussion on online leagues than this one. We get some good news that features are coming back and everyone is like, "No fantasies drafting OMGz wai????"

I feel for you guys that actually use but half of the comments lead me to believe people just complain on each thing they can.

How about you and the zealots put down the pitchfork? What you fail to realize is that I agree that it sucks! You need to realize that they don't have time to put in EVERYTHING for every mode. This has been discussed already. My reply was to the absurdity of the post I quoted. Some of you just throw a fit over the silliest things.

I don't know if I should be sadder that you call me a groupie, or that you hate me. I'm torn. My emotions are just so raw right now...😏

Take out? 2k14 next gen was a rebuild of the game! Not every feature has been updated to the new base yet. Why does this point get ignored?

1.) Fantasy Draft

Ok... this year we don't have fantasy draft, but we have custom rosters instead which is better option IMO. From my experience with OA in previous iterations (2k12, 2k13 and 2k14 - talking for PC version) it was pain in the a.. to set up a good fantasy draft. From setting draft priority list prior the draft which goes wrong, due to CPU team, to arranging trades with CPU/User teams to get teams rosters right (and wait 24 hours to pass due to stupid implementation)... I feel this solution is much, much better than having FD in previous years form.

2.) Multy-year league and player progression

It is a bit of drawback regarding last year but I think we can better simulate player progression based on his performance in our league (and not how he performs in real life) over the years. For example if a bad user cheeses with Kevin Durant all year (having high PPG but low FG%, 3PT%, turnovers, bad win-loss ratio) we can "penalize" Kevin Durant with lower overall next season. Same goes with rookies which can perform better than expected -> next year they will have better overall. But again we have a workaround. We will be happy if 2K finally step up and make ONLINE MyLeague.

3.) FA period

Due to the fact that FA period was extremely buggy in 2k14 (each day lasted 1:30 minute, sign superstars to multi-year contracts on league minimum...) it's a good thing that they scrapped FA period
We will have offseason and draft outside the game. Again... we have a workaround with custom rosters.

4.) Playoffs

Again Playoffs and playoff progression in OA was buggy. You could end up with unfinished league, because all remaining games grayed-out. I hope this is fixed in 2k15. And again we have workaround to create Playoff outside of the game and play playoff games inside the league (admin game reset )...

I am still leaning towards buying the game, but if Online leagues does not supports:
- Custom sliders
- Custom playbooks (ability to save playbooks)
- Some admin (commissioner) controls over the league (approving/declining trades, kicking users, reseting games, advancing/simulating games
- leaving and then joining the same league (not being kicked out of the league)
- practicing plays

Then I will not buy the game.
This is the best post of the thread. Perspective. But, wait. I'm supposed to get on your case for the last part since I'm a groupie...

...

😕

I got nothing. Great post. I agree with everything here. I will say that when they say Online LEAGUES, I pretty much know for sure that it's just one season and that's it. Otherwise, they say FRANCHISE. I think this put the burden of offseason on the users. I'm ok with that for now. The biggest loss however is the "career" stat tracking. That's the biggest loss to me.

After countless tweets, forum posts, etc. I feel like this was a win for the sim online league community. As the days passed and we still only had "stability" to go on I was beginning to become skeptical that they listened to us last year. 2K14 was a disaster in terms on online leagues. It was disrespect to some of their longest fans.

Looking back on it now, I am glad we were able to put in the work to make sure 2K listened to us. I wish this was the mode we had last year and will consider 2K14 a lost year in terms of a basketball game. I am pleased with the announcement today as it seems like we will have a functioning online league this year.

I just have a couple of questions:
1. I see play style is an option, will we have custom sliders?
2. Will admin have owner control (boot/replace) in mid season?
3. Is there a trade veto system?
4. Will there be a website for the league?

I hope we get a little more information. A 2K blog post would be great to expand on some of the features. I am not a fan of these announcements via twitter, but I am just glad we finally got the answer we've been waiting for.

Now I admit I would rather have online association but this looks a whole lot better than what we had on 2k14. Having the ability to change the settings is huge and yes it does stink that no rookies or free agents. As long as it functions right this should be fine, custom rosters will give the opportunity to play as an association if you put in the work.

No. You have custom rosters. Hold your own fantasy draft. Then apply that to your roster. Done. Work involved for sure, but there is a workaround.

I'd hate for a guy to be up 15 with 2 minutes left and get dc'd then we can only reset and they have to play again or get simmed. Although I guess you could always sim til they get a win.

I just wish we had dev insights on each mode! I with a passion hate all this twitter and you tube stuff. Maybe I'm old school but I just think having each mode including online leagues, playbooks, etc has it's own following as does my player etc. Maybe not as big or even close but I feel like I have heard very little of ANYTHING I care about this year. Lol

This being less then 2 weeks away from release has me scratching my head...
Couldn't agree more. I don't care for the subtle twitter and youtube stuff, I want the dev insights to return. Each mode of the game should have its own dev insight.

Philly and Utah can still win games. The owners will need to adjust their style of play to their roster. This is one of the biggest faults of most online players. They want to play the same way with every team

# 79 amedawg00 @ 09/26/14 11:20 AM
Still.no confirmation of saved playbooks? Our 12 min quarter gms will be an eternity if we have to spend additional time setting up playbooks before tip off each gm. That's a grind I'm not looking forward to. Like Van says, if 2k is silent on this, its most likely not in

# 80 silverskier @ 09/26/14 11:43 AM
fantasy draft can be done outside the association if custom rosters work properly. The features that are a must, as other people are saying, and haven't been mentioned are

- Custom sliders
- Custom playbooks (ability to save playbooks)
- Some admin (commissioner) controls over the league (approving/declining trades, kicking users, reseting games, advancing/simulating games, giving wins and losses
- leaving and then joining the same league (not being kicked out of the league)
- practicing plays

And it seems that we are not going to have them this year =(. Custom sliders and custom playbooks are so important man... well, at least we are going to be able to compete in some way with these online leagues.
