NBA 2K15 News Post

GameInformer has posted 44 details on NBA 2K15's presentation and gameplay, as well as MyCAREER, MyLEAGUE, MyTEAM and 2K Heroes modes. Below are some of the key items of interest, but be sure to read the entire list here.
  • A new create-a-player interface gives you more tools than ever before to create players you can place on NBA rosters. You can tweak everything from forehead and jawline to ears, eyes, and lips. Many of the facial features and hairstyles are pulled from other NBA players, so if you want to rock the Ginobli bald spot with the sharp Artest cheekbones you can.
  • After big plays, Visual Concepts has worked in new camera angles to highlight player reactions.
  • To improve the defense and make A.I. players look more in control, Visual Concepts fixed how they move in small spaces, making it look less frantic. They are much better at avoiding overreactions and react more fluidly when adjusting to offensive movement. Since they stay at home, it's easier to re-orient yourself when you switch to a new defender as well.
  • To help differentiate between teams after a set play breaks down, each one uses their true base set in NBA 2K15. Now when you play the Heat, which Jones jokes doesn't truly have a big (sorry Bosh), they will run a four-out one-in set. The Spurs, on the other hand, will have three-out two-in base set.
  • During your second year, Doc Rivers will take over as the head coach of your team. Players will have a more intense relationship with Rivers than with the coaches from last year, as he has expectations for how he wants you to perform and what you should be focusing on in a particular game situation. These include tutorial-like pre-game meetings with assistant coaches where they go over points of emphasis.

The idea of having Doc leave probably made a lot more sense back when the whole Sterling thing was going on. THats probably when they decided on it

That report is incorrect as far as every team having their own base set. Not sure how they got that but that is NOT correct. No way that could be done in the time we had.

Very good point. That's probably the reason

People need to start thinking of this more as a story mode and not a career simulator. In a story mode, you have to interact with the players and have to be involved in the events the mode has. You have limited control over what happens in the mode other than the games you play and choices the mode allows you to make.
that's exactly the reason this doc thing is happening, and exactly the reason I'm losing favor with the mode.

I got hooked on my career precisely because it was a career simulator, not because I wanted to play a basketball-themed RPG. Is this really what the masses who play MyCareer every year actually want??

Taking away bad call for pass is so friggin' awesome.

Cuz I only call for passes when I'm open and I'd always get a bad grade for it. So frustrating.

And I hope they also addressed a pass being slightly deflected, but still received by who I intended to pass to not counting as an assist.

reading this it seemed to shot meter helps a little too much to the point where there's no need to learn shot releases. I hope this doesn't become a meter gazing game where you just trying to time the colors and the white line

This is great news, it is now tailored on a per team bases ... now I hope we can edit that, specially to account for roster movement or even change of coaches or philosophy.

THANKS Da-Czar.

2KU has been enhanced with videos as well as the practice mode. Cover athlete Kevin Durant and other players have lent their voice to offer instructions.
Practice mode is back and enhanced, now lets hope this means Scrimaging on Leagues and practice plays are also back.
If so, that is sad, but understand it ... hopes for a 2K16 implementation ?

That's the opposite of what Mike Wang said

I was shocked by how much people liked the next gen version of myCareer last year because it was a story mode. You had to fued with Ellis no matter what. People liked that so 2k just gave them another story.

Small things like hair moving.... You can see Kenith Farried hair in motion in the news trailer.

They made next gen mycareer with youtube in mind. That mode fits youtube perfectly.

That MyCareer first scene we've seen of 2K15... It ressembles what Smoove used to do for his MyPlayer's intro videos back in 2K11.

They are easing the grand theft auto crowd with the story mode there, maybe it should be more mass effect lol like with branching based on decisions,(who am I kidding ) I hate this crap,!!!! Gimme ultra realism I read if wasting time on frrrrrrrr like this.

If people really have an issue with the story based MyCareer, why don't you use the upgraded create a player and MyLeague to your advatage?

If you really want things to be realistic, start a 30-team MyLeague and place your created self in the draft pool (or straight on a team if you'd like to choose your destination), come draft time see what team selects you and then just start your career that way. When you play a game set your preferred position to whatever you are when you're on the court and then control the team when you're off, you can realistically progress your skills as well if you have the discipline and then have a hand in all transactions involving you. It's a lot of work, but if you really want the barebones non-story driven MyCareer, it's what you're going to have to do to get the most realism out of it.

I personally didn't really enjoy the Jackson Ellis story whatsoever. I just put up with it because I like the MyCareer experience.

My main issue with these story modes is that it has next to zero replay value. With the news that looks like you're shoe horned into not getting drafted and Doc Rivers ALWAYS joining your team in the 2nd season, it has really turned into a "play it once to enjoy the story then never play it again" kind of thing. To me, that is very disappointing.

However, I'm very excited about this part which I think a lot of people are overlooking:

The new MyCareer mode lets you skip games if you prefer to move more quickly through seasons.
Not having to sit and play 50 games a season a because they're all "Rivalry" games is huge to me.

If i join the GSW, i'm expecting them to fire Steve Kerr for Doc Rivers? I don't think Doc would join GS in real life after the whole Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut incident.

Is the pre-game show with Ernie and Shaq before every game? If it is, I think it would be better to have it on 1 or 2 days a week so that people don't get sick of it so soon.
