NBA 2K15 News Post

Chris_Smoove has released another NBA 2K15 video. This one showcases Coaching 101.

Coach satisfaction is new this year and according to Chris, if you play your coaches scheme, your player will play better. If you would rather freestyle your way in games without listening to your coach, you could be traded.

Coaching 101 will pop up whenever your coach wants to change the gameplan. Make sure you watch the video to see how it works.

My exact thought. We all agree that this feature is for ****** players who could watch to learn more about how to correctly play 2K. But let's be honest, the last people who are gonna sit and watch a cutscene of a coach talking while they could be playing are ****** players, and their response on twitter already proves that. Unfortunately, while I think this is a cool addition, it's one of those things that will fizzle out after people get bored of it quickly. No way you're making ****** gamers watch a cutscene to learn how to actually play when they can still just cheese.

I hope you won't get penalized for playing good basketball...like the teammate grade would penalize you for letting your man score even though it wasn't your man...all of a sudden the arrow switched and instead of guarding the pg, you now have to miraculously guard the center.

I hope that if the coaching emphasis is to allow nothing inside, but I'm guarding steph curry or an equally good to great shooter, I won't get penalized for not leaving him to sag into the paint.

Or the coaching emphasis is to limit perimeter shots, but I'm guarding Rondo or J Wall, guys who you would give the perimeter shot to in order to guard against them using their speed to blow by you.

Don't penalize me coach for playing good basketball just because we have a difference of philosophy
IRL you would be benched until you follow coaches orders

=) loooooovvvvvvveeeeeee this, really exited to see how far they take this in the future!!! Think something as simple as post entry doesnt need to be taught? Try taking your back to the basket center to the park. Great job 2k. Even if the arcade people think this is useless it makes the game better. And theres an old saying 'you dont know, what you dont know"

That's exactly why it shouldn't be mandatory i rather have it optional like on the old madden games where you had to learn plays for the upcoming games

"if you can still just cheese" simple remove the cheese able aspects of the game. To 2k's credit they made efforts every year to remove fix cheesy game play. End game results they add an arcade mode for the causuals, and make the real game as sim as possible

******s can play how they want. They'll just end up traded bounced around or have a lame my player. .. but don't say it shouldn't be there.

Totally agree with everything here.

The point of that sequence was not about missmatches or finishing moves. Was simply instructing how to feed the post, proper passing angle and reading the posion of the defender. Is he fronting? Is he in the passing lane?!!!

Something I just noticed and really liked - When the ball is entered into the post there is a screen set on the top or weak side. Awesome!! Was this in last year's game? Last 2k I played was 2k13.

The defense switches poorly, but I'm not sure if that is a result of bad AI, or accurate reflection of poor Knicks defense.

I agree with the hope that the points of emphasis are based on your opponent's and own team's strengths. Also I hope you aren't penalized if you maybe don't follow an instruction to the letter one play but have a good basketball reason for doing so, hopefully the system is smart enough not to penalize you.

I don't blame 2K at all for this. If you play terrible fundamental basketball, why should the game cater to you? If you try too run with the QB on EVERY play on Madden, it should bite you in the butt, not reward you.

This could see the end of averaging 44 points a game for certain players.

p.s. - Whoever did the voice over for coach was smacking and breathing extra hard between lines
voice acting was a bit subpar but I'd gladly take these cutscenes based around actual basketball, with zero made up rivals and B-level movie drama. Actually increases the immersion instead of killing it.

True

So let us hope that 2k has the coach making good decisions this year when it comes to the points of emphasis.

2k14 had the coach making bad decisions, such as, laying off shooters in favor of protecting the paint when the opponent is on a run because they're shooting nothing but 3s and making them, or telling me (a pass first pg) to go score 10 points in a row and look off my open teammates...it was a point of contention.

If they've cleaned that up and it actually makes sense then it's all good. If not, then I hope it's not a penalty for me when I'm trying to play winning basketball, which is the point I was trying to make.

I'm so hype for this. Great addition.

-CPU can finally do leaning jumpshots (see Manu, despite right handedness)
-Freestyling is now limited on offense. I hope call playing by the CPU is better though

Yeah this was pretty common in 2k'14 ps4 i found it useles when done at the top because the defender responsible for the man setting the screen was usualy in the passing lane ready to double when u put it down, but a step away from recovering if u passed. If its used to get the wing defenders to switch and pick up say rondo as he sets the screen for bradly. defense usualy just goes around screen stays with shooter leaves rondo wide opean!N he just stands at top of ark knowing he cant hit dat shot to save his life! i still get doubled have to pass out now were free styleing with 8 secs of shot clock.

Dude, I couldn't even pay attention to what he was saying because of all those mouth noises.

Seems cool though if it's implemented well and these is a good variety to fit each team.

I like this addition.

I know the game of basketball fairly well, but at the very least it'll get me thinking about other aspects of the game as I'm playing.

It'll help keep me focused on the offense instead of turning into a ball hog.
