NBA 2K15 Introduces FaceScan Technology, Scan Your Face, Bring it into the Game

It looks like 2K Sports will have a face scanning solution similar to EA's Game Face technology. Users will be able to scan their face into the game with their Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

Users can play NBA 2K15 with a player face that looks just like them. Check out the video at KTVU.

UPDATE: Ronnie has chimed in on Twitter. Looks like we'll see more soon.

Jeez it takes a lot to impress you guys. Believe it or not, this appeals to the majority of the 2k basketball community. What's more immersive than being able to actually play as yourself? Seeing yourself in the cutscenes, in game.. It will definitely be an exciting experience for most of us with just this new feature alone.

It sucks if you can't face scan on PC, but I'm sure they have a good reason for it. Either technical limitations or other reasons, which they will probably explain.

I for one absolutely love this. So much that I'm going to buy a ps4 camera just for this. I already have an xbone with Kinect, but I want to play 2k on my ps4 this year.

I appreciate their work and progress in the 2k series. There are bumps along the ride, but overall.. They've done an excellent job. It sickens me to see comments like "it looks like last year" lol like there's a way to drastically improve something that looks MORE HD than nba games broadcasted in hd.

This new face scan feature is excellent news. I can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.

Great news. Now a couple voice options (at least let us tweet the pitch of the current voice) and MUCH better tattoo options and I might start dancing

...oh, AND UNIFORM SELECT IN MYCAREER. I'm not letting that one go

I completely agree with you! For guys on the PC who have made good cyberfaces of themselves, we know that it makes playing the game so much more immersive. I'll probably only be on PC this year but I'm not hating on the console guys at all, I'm glad 2k got this feature in. It's definitely a big announcement that I didn't think would happen. These Devs put in work this year!

No, but the premise of putting peoples actual faces in the game is something EA did last gen. Making it more convenient certainly is a step in the right direction. However lets not act like the concept and tech has just been given to us with this announcement.

It's not just about the increased convenience that a 3D capture provides but also the increased accuracy.

EA's Gameface and Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Vegas technology was basically taking three or four separate photos and trying to combine them together. So you ended up with a lot of Frankenstein models that looked pieced together and had weird inconsistencies.

For the first time in a long time I'm interested in playing MyCareer. Now I'm battling with getting this PS Camera lol. Would love to squad up with my Hornets with this feature.

rainbow six vegas in 2006 - I had an xbox 360 camera (don't remember what it was called) and it scanned my face unbelievably well to the point it was pretty freaky!

Have you been reading my past few post in the 2Kboard? I have been impressed with what I'm seeing lately and have said so. Don't have a clue how this has turned into something negative.

As a MyPlayer only person face scanning may ended up being the reason I buy this game. I would never be negative about it. Saying that because the premise isn't new I'm not bouncing off the wall isn't being negative it's giving my honest thoughts.

It like there's a filter that only allow some to see negative because I'm on the fense about getting 2K.

The concept is obvious. The execution and results is a first.

Static scanning of a photo or flat video image is completely different from consumer 3D face scanning. This is an industry first.

It's like saying Avatar was no big deal because you saw the black and white King Kong in 3D with blue and red glasses.
