There are moments when I'm just simply fully satisfies playing this game. That hasn't happened in YEARS with Madden.
Good post. The game is a blast as it is, getting a few things fixed/polished and man it will be a real treat.

Well, I finally got the AI to attack my secondary with more consistency and am finally getting the better balance of games I'm looking for! I bumped up to normal speed from slow (hat tip to Jarebear) and upped the AI passing accuracy to 55 and landed on 40 for my pass coverage. I know people have issues with Robo QB, and I do too, but I've found after several games that it's not really that much worse with accuracy at 55 than anything over 25 or so IMO (and below that the AI stayed short too much for my taste).

Most games play out about right minus the high comp% by the AI QBs sometimes. Playing as Dallas my secondary gets torched as it should now (though in my most improbable 23-8 win against Seattle recently, I did somehow hold Russell Wilson to less than 200 yards with a comp % in the low 50s), but if I play with better defenses I can get those numbers down to less aggravating levels.

AI still has some really brain-dead moments (like terrible interior run reads, players flat-out not moving on defense, and the sack issue still pops up from time to time...seems to especially bad in consecutive plays...like the OL just goes to sleep), but all-in-all, I'm happy with this iteration of Madden and agree with the above posts that with a healthy couple of patches this could be a great game of football.

play calling now is god-awful, it's like they dumbed it down for the dumb ****s that can't figure out how to pick their own plays and win

cycling through formations is a hassle

Still having a blast with the game. You just have to get your sliders by testing them in a cfm.
Luckily I did all my testing through CFM once I got the game.
Would have been nice to be able to use Play Now for testing but not a huge deal to me but just makes it a bit harder to test.
I've been playing default All-Pro in play now games and have gotten some decent results. Will that work in CFM, or would it be better to go up to All-Madden?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if CFM gets significantly easier/harder than play now games. I'm trying to avoid going into CFM until I'm ready to roll with my dynasty.

Easier in my opinion.

I tried a lot with All Madden and simply couldn't get CPU QB to be human. I got it decent but not good enough for me.
That along with the boost (Not as bad as previous years but still there) the CPU players get and I'm sticking with All Pro. Been having a blast with it

I was able to hold Tom Brady to 60% passing and 1 pick on all madden with QB acc at 5

My point is this; they've changed the game to where if you actually play it right and realistically, you can take a sucky team (especially the 2013 Giants), and win with sim sliders and default rosters. AND THAT MAKES MADDEN FUN! In the past, you had to play Madden, you couldn't play realistically, and therefore you couldn't use sucky teams if you wanted a chance to win, just couldn't do it. NOW, you can. And it's a great thing. If you complete the football concepts training, and play even remotely close to how it helps teach you, you can take a sucky team and win. (Or even take a sucky team, and play a great team and lose but still keep it close). For instance, to me the best 3 teams in the game are the Seahawks, Broncos and Packers. I'm 0-2 against the Hawks (but kept one close only lost by 2),and Broncos I'm 1-1, and 1-0 against the Packers. Always using the Giants, and always using sim sliders and rosters.
I've played about 7 games online. I started out 4-1 using Green Bay but I wanted to mix it up and tried the Rams using their playbook which I've never touched. First game vs Steelers, I had the win in hand with a minute to go by just getting tackled in play but went in for the td to take an 8 point lead and gave him the ball back. He ended up scoring and won the overtime toss and scored a td on the opening drive. Next game was Rams vs Cowboys and I won 28-7.

I think the Rams are underrated at 77 with Bradford, but my point is I feel like I can take most teams and be competitive this year. It keeps the game fresh.

I agree with your premise. My favorite madden prior to this year is madden 08 on the ps2. That was a 4-12 year for GB with Vernand Morency as the featured back. People would talk trash when I picked them but I was usually competitive and it was hella fun.

I haven't gotten that same experience vs the cpu yet, but I have online. I can't wait to start an CFM. Only problem is my old group haven't upgraded yet.

Started a test Lions CFM to get my feet wet before the patch/rosters (since gameplay is different).
Difficulty - All Madden.
Speed Threshold - 0.
Fatigue/Injuries - 65.
Pre Season week 1:
Brian Hoyer comes in to start the second quarter, but gets hurt on his second series.
Rex Grossman ends up getting injured right before the third quarter.
Both backups are out for the game, but instead of bringing Johnny Football back, they sub in..... Billy Cundiff (all QB ratings in the 30s).
He goes on to complete 11 of 12 passes and lead the two minute offense to a touchdown to end the game. I won the game 17-45, but that was ridiculous.
I've been trying my hardest to stay with default sliders because most of them affect more than what they're description tells, but I think that was the last straw.
All Pro is too easy in CFM and All Madden throws ratings out of the window!
😩...and the slideritis begins...😩

Let's just hope the masses that complain about certain things over and over again, don't turn Rex and crew backwards.

What was his passing details?
Did he go deep or all dunks.
Getting a balance of % and realistic attepted pass depths is what we need..

If you got there then cool and please pass along the settings. I'd love to try them sometime.

I simply couldn't get AM to play that way.
Would be cool to get there fo those that want to roll on AM but for me, the player boosts make it a little sour for me.

For people still looking to buy this game check your local Craigslist.

I just scanned it today and you can pick the game up new for as little as $40.00(dallas area) AVG AROUND 45-50 BUCKS.

Its well worth it at those prices imo.

Well, this game is hit or miss. Play the wrong guy online and you can still see the cheese is real.

However, play the game offline, get your sliders down and play sim and you'll get a great game of football out of it. I kept going back and forth with how I felt about this game while playing online. I'd play a good game, then play another where the cheese was real, the game was terrible, etc. It just wasn't very fun to me.

When playing offline though, I've edited a few settings on All Madden and this is a very very fun game of football. I'll echo my sentiments from earlier. When this game is playing nice, it is the best video game football I've ever played. When it's off, it's ugly Madden that we're all used to. From my experience though, playing exclusively offline or with friends will result in the former which is good in my case.

There is so much disparity between stadiums in terms of lighting. You wonder, how can University of Phoenix can look so incredible at 1pm in this game, but AT&T Stadium look so dead? Where is the sun/brightness? How did they go from this:

Great post, field lighting this year is horrible !!!!!!!!

It's funny cause his first pass of the game was a bomb down the sideline to Shane vereen for a touchdown. Other then that he did a lot of short passes with some intermediate passes. I believe he attempted three total long balls in the game. One for a touch down, one was broken up, and the last i user picked.

Exactly as it should be. Deep balls are rare and should be earned and exciting. Most teams take 3-5 shots downfield max. People are far to quick to judge based off a couple of games. There are a lot of variables that go into when, why and how the cpu decides to go up top.

I love the balance thisngame has in all pro. Its working for me.

Now about that forth coming patch.....

Exactly. The QBs rarely make dumb decisions so it feels good when you get pressure and make them throw a pick or throw it out of bounds or get a sack. It's like the CPU offense is exploiting mismatches and drive down the field realistically lol

Good stuff AS. I had a bit of a "breakthrough" last night and played two of the best games I've had since getting the game almost two weeks ago. All Pro default everything except INTs at 25 for USER and CPU. Held Locker with the Cowboys to 51% completion. Cam Newton torched the Bears(me). Won with the Cowboys 32-13 and lost with the Bears 34-13. The Bears defense is god awful vs. the run. Stewart and DWilliams were both over 100 yards.

The thing I really liked about the Bears game was that while the Panthers were running all over my defense they just stuck with it from a play calling standpoint. Newton was 3-3 in the first half. At one point the rush/pass ratio for Carolina was 19-2! He ended the game 12-12 with most passes underneath, but he did hit one of his WR on a deep PA seam route. It was perfect because I was jamming everyone in the box to try to stop the run and they finally went over the top. This was one game where the completion percentage seemed somewhat legit even though it was 100%.

The one change that I did make from all the other games that I played was that I stopped covering the buzz zones myself and started covering the middle of the field. I had 5 sacks in each game. In every game prior to that I was getting between 8-10. I'm sticking with AP "Default" until a patch drops. I really hope they leave the CPU defense as is because offense it's a realistic challenge this year. I feel like I earn every yard I get. I have to audible, change pass protection, hot route, and look at matchups to maximize results and that's the way it should be. No more breaking the huddle and going through the motions and just "running plays".

Games were played in CFM.....

Really unhappy with the new vertical playcalling layout. Combine that with the 12 seconds they give you to select a play on defense, leaves a lot of us unable to explore our playbook.

Has there been anything said about this?
