Overall good, but ok, opening sequence to a game (before kickoff even), and fans are going insane for some reason...

NE @ NYJ, 3rd quarter, Brady gets sacked and fumbles the ball on his own 15, and not one person in the crowd stands up.

For those who played the game. How often did you see overthrows?

Watching the Skins on tv their pants always seemed to be more of a mustard color, in the vids here they seem to be a highlighter yellow color. I might be over thinking it, never seen them in person though.

The Redskins yellow pants in general are a huge pain point for me. This is the 3rd year of the Nike deal and they still don't have their yellow Nike pants in the game.

I know that signature QB throwing styles are in but what about QB stances? In every vid I've seen every QB had the same stance.

Speaking of features being removed, they also need to bring back signature ball carrying styles. They had them in Madden 07 but took them out smh. I hate how evey RB carries & runs the ball the same way in Madden. Shady McCoy for example should carry the ball wide & away from his body unless he's in traffic like he does in real life. Also every back should not be able to pull off the same moves.

Going foward, players need to be differentiated not only by ratings but with signature animations. Now that the foundation is finally solid (although they still need to keep ironing out the animations) it's time to take this game to the next level. Get er done EA!

If they don't get it done next year, there's no point in even discussing it anymore.

Yeah very annoying... I've noticed in a couple of vids the user is changing the pant and socks mismatching the unis.

Crossing routes were wide open too quick in nearly every video I watched. In general there seems to be too much separation between wr's and db's.

We are talking about Jets fans, a fan base that feels the need to remind us everyweek that they can spell J-E-T-S....

All I'm going to say is all you guys need to do yourselves a solid and learn about REAL NFL blocking schemes. Then learn about QB mechanics and footwork. Once you have both those down to a science, go back and look at the footage you're praising. Just keep in mind plays are designed with SPECIFIC blocking schemes which dictate the success or failure of a play. Don't believe it? Look it up. Not every team in the NFL uses the same generic hybrid nonsense you see in Madden. EXAMPLE: In the Jets vs Patriots video you have a toss to the outside but you get TWO nonsensical double teams in the middle while leaving TWO linebackers free to T off on the play essentially killing it. Not only that, the safety even comes up and helps destroy the play. So basically the play is dead before it even starts. Now this is less great defense and more dumb idiotic blocking design. No team in the NFL would EVER use such nonsense. As hard as it might be to believe, EVERY play has a specific scheme and design for the guys upfront. One missed block, one bad decision can dictate the play's success or failure. Let that sink into your head. SPECIFIC DESIGN. Something that is sorely missing in Madden. They need to fix it so that you get football outcomes based on football. Not based on sloppy mechanics. That hybrid blocking mess has to go. If a team uses zone blocking, the plays need to be designed to use zone blocking. If a team uses man blocking, the plays... well you get where I'm going. If you think I just made this out for kicks, then look it up for yourselves. This is nothing to do with hating on Madden, it is a fact. The game has the WORST hybrid blocking system I've seen.

People lose sight of the fact that Madden has and always will be a video game first and foremost. It's fun. It's a lot of fun in fact.

If your a Madden fan you know what your getting. Why is Madden so popular? Because it is a lot of fun to play your buddy.

That is what this game caters to first and foremost. Human vs human games. Online sim leagues are pretty awesome.

As far as offline franchise I have found a way to thoroughly enjoy this game.

Seems like I make this very same post every year. Football is actually a very complicated team sport and to replicate the minutia details that some want....Madden will never ever deliver that. Never has....never will and despite some thinking other football titles have....I call BS.

They were not much different in the grand scheme. Madden has been and will be the most popular football video game around. Even when there were 3-4 different football games Madden was the king.

There was a reason for that.

Fun.

Well evidently you weren't keeping track because Madden was most certainly NOT king as you say. Otherwise they would have never wasted any money on securing the license. But you know what, since you call BS on any other football games that haven't delivered fundamentals I challenge you to prove it. And I will do the same in turn. Because evidently, if you think for one second Madden is a sim you are delusional. So PROVE IT. Show me that Madden has all the nuances of fundamentally sound football. If you can do that then that would be a magic trick Chris Angel himself might want to study. Not much different in the grand scheme... oh really? Well lets test that theory. Get some Madden footage that shows true football fundamentals, techniques, mechanics, blocking schemes, realistic read react, WR/CB interactions, realistic penalties, visible injuries, organic play development, bring it all to the table and again, I will do the same in turn. Then we can compare notes and see about your definitive opinion on the matter.

It's my opinion in playing every iteration of video game football that no game has ever captured every single nuance that so many madden haters post about every single year. I never said Madden is realistic. All I am saying is the game has long history of being very popular and a lot of fun to play an back when there was several titles to choose from I am fairly certain it out sold most if not all of it's competitors.

Whether you like the game or not....I truly don't care. I know I enjoy it a ton and while last gen was for the mostly part sub par I found M25 to be the best game of video game football I had played in over a decade.

Relax. I am just stating some general opinions. If you don't agree...cool. Makes no difference to me. I just think way too many people expect way too many thing out of video games. Especially sports games.
I feel football is the toughest sport to replicate on the console and Madden while not ultra realistic has a formula that has been proven. And it's why the game has such a successful brand name in the mainstream video game world. I am looking for a game to be a lot of fun first and foremost. Madden has done that more time than not for my taste. Madden for most of its history has provided me with countless hours of fun.

Period.

And one other thing, you need to get mad at Mr. Rex Dickson himself for standing there at E3 and proclaiming they are IN FACT MAKING A FOOTBALL SIMULATION. So, either he is a bold face liar, or you are completely unaware of what the word SIMULATION means. So, you can't have it both ways. Fun or not, your LEAD developer laid down that gauntlet. Talk to him about that. Because I'm going to take him at his word and if they don't deliver a SIM then they are liars. It's that simple. So don't get angry about the sim community expecting a sim. Get with Rex on his statement. Tell him not to say things he doesn't really mean. If they say its going to be a sim then that's exactly what I expect to see.

You know what, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you enjoying the game as is. If it's fun for you or anyone else, there is nothing wrong with that and I don't take offense one way or another. Infact I encourage those who enjoy the game continue to do so. But for me, I played football for 5 years. There are things I learned that I cannot unlearn and cannot except about the game and its poor mechanics. Again, my issues is not with people who enjoy the game, my issue is when people try to convince those of us who have a deeper understanding of the sport and want Rex to deliver on his sim promise to just change gears and try to make the game something its not. Again, if you enjoy the game as is then God bless. For me, I prefer a football game that represents the sport on a more consistent and realistic level. So we can agree to disagree.

The sim community better stick to text games like OTTP and front office football and not hold their breath on console video games being th ultimate sim sports experience.

I mean I am a Show Junkie and we have so called "sim" posters still whining about things and the game is pretty incredible.

When has a user controlled sports game ever been truly sim.

Come on people. You play them as sim as you can, work around the fact that it is a video game first and foremost and with video games comes the element of arcade, exploits, and some wankery.

It's a video game that's my entire point. You can either pound the sand for something I have never seen made for consoles or play the game and have fun.

I try to make it as sim as I can with what they give me. Some games do it better than others.

Madden has had some really bad moments. But M25 and now 15 are really looking far better than anything I have played in over 10 years.

Sorry the game sucks for you.

i feel like if some how EA was able to deliver a TRUE nfl football sim, everyone would be complaining the game is too hard LOL

I completely respect what your saying. I am the same way about baseball....and until The Show (2012) I thought I would never get that true simulation baseball console game. But IMO SCEA did it.

So I empathize with you as a former football player. Madden has never been realistic in that regard. And why they would pound the table claiming it is a simulation is a little far fetched. I look at Madden purely as a really awesome version of Tecmo Super Bowl!!

Peace

Fun.

I appreciate your opinion, but while I agree madden is indeed a video game, it is a video game that was created to mimic the NFL. In one of those quotes u see during a CFM loading screen, there's one that says something like, 'madden X was delayed because john madden himself pushed for having 11 v 11 football'. They have always been trying to create a game that mimics real life. Tecmo bowl even tried to create a game that mimicked real life. Lol. As the game evolved and hardware advanced, they added to the game to add realism. Even things that might seem 'Arcady' or 'fun' to some like spin moves, jukes, stiff arms, etc. were put in the game to add realism because we really see these things on Sunday. A game like NFL blitz or backbreaker was meant to be a video game. Those 2 games were NOT meant to mimic real life football. And, when u look at all other sports titles, which ones are the most successful? The ones that mimic their real life counterparts best. Nba2k, the show, etc. And, while sports games have always been fun to play multiplayer, they have always had to have modes to mimic real life seasons or playoffs, etc for single player, and I would argue was the original intent of all video games, really. I mean, who plays pacman 2 player? With the advent of online gaming, obviously things changed at that point and all games started to be designed with multiplayer in mind. But, I would truly argue the original madden and therefore the history of madden was meant to be a football sim for 1 player and morphed into the cheese u see online today. After the exclusive license came I to play, fans of football who wanted to their sport represented as a sim were now left out in the cold as cheese reigned supreme. And, I remember the 2k days, and you're right, a lot of people still defended madden, and I couldn't understand it, lol. So, you're right, it is a video game and some people are sastified with it, but many, many others want as realistic of a football sim as they can, and with exclusivity, everyone knows madden is the only game that will sell. So, I guess philosophical differences on these things, but I would still argue that madden was originally intended to mimic the NFL in any way possible.

# 320 Armor and Sword @ 08/16/14 04:01 PM
I agree Hanky. Madden has morphed into a hybrid type game.
