NBA 2K15 MyLEAGUE Interview

We recently had a chance to interview Rob Jones, Sr. Producer Visual Concepts and Erick Boenisch, Sr. Producer, Visual Concepts to talk about a new mode for NBA 2K15 called MyLEAGUE, exclusive for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Before we get into the interview, here is a quick rundown on some of the options. In a nutshell, it’s the Association Mode that we all know and loved on old-gen consoles, on steroids.

MyLEAGUE offers both a single season or up to an 80 year franchise experience. You will have complete control over every aspect of how your league plays out.

I'm happy to see the news about the offline/virtual currency-free 80-season franchise/association mode with all the customizable options (within reson, but it's about what you can expect from an officially licensed game). I couldn't stand 2k14's PS4 barebones offering but will give this a look.

Quick question, dont know if its been answered but can we switch the team (or number of teams) we control at any point during MyLeague?

Yes you can control all 30 teams trades or just 1. They also said you can edit the ratings anytime you want at any point of the season playoffs

Ive been looking for info on it. Where have you read that it is returning because I was ready to enjoy it (I didn't get 14 on next gen) assuming they made tweaks to things like VC

Yesterday we added the ability to customize Player Ambitions (Loyalty, Play For Winner, (need for) Financial Security) to whatever you like in the Edit Player feature.

Like myself and someone else mentioned earlier, if you can designate someone like Manu to be a 6th man even though he has a higher overall rating than any other SG on his team, that would be awesome.

BIG fan of being able to edit that as it could have a big impact down the road in ML. You guys have earned my paid in full pre-order today which I just completed at lunch.

I'm pumped to see what on the court improvements are in store for us

I'm going to hop on the question band wagon:

Can we import draft classes into MyLEAGUE at a certain point during the season? Or do we have to edit the draft class within the MyLEAGUE?

I apologize if this has been asked/answered previously.

I was just wondering if this was going to be possible, cheese and bread 2k is coming hard this year, everytime i come to this thread i find one more feature that I wanted.

This is unreal. Let's take a second to remember all the complaining about 2k14 and all the nonsense we spew about other sports titles and then realize that what we as a community asked for is being delivered in unprecedented ways. No its not everything, but this is a heckuva start. Proves they (developers) are listening not only with the new Association/MyLeague mode but with these types of additions late in the game.

My god. So I never got the game last year but I love what they tried to do with MyGM--but I HATED the idea of VC playing a role in something such as changing a lineup. If they really created this mode well and shared all of the features into both game modes, this will be awesome because the MyGM mode is going for a completely different style of play than the MyLeague crowd. Im really really excited that they not only are blowing out MyGM with new features but that they will be created an awesome new game mode as well

Since you didn't mention it, I'm assuming that it was a bit too late in the cycle to add pre-existing injuries that you'd mentioned earlier in the thread, no?

Either way, again, stellar work. I, as well as most of the people here appreciate the hard work you guys have put into what looks to be one of the best 2K's to come around in a while. Thank you.

Congratulations 2k, this will be the best sports game ever! I play basketball games for like 10 years now, and almost everything I want will be in this mode!

A quick question, we can change the age of the players? I mean, to have Kevin Garnett 20years old for example?

I am a big fan of the gameplan features and stats. Is there anyway to save game film or stats to use for later. Say you play a team 4 times two times they killed you doing something. Just to know how teams beat you so you can adjust your gameplan next time you play them. It would be nice if this is how the CPU is trying to beat you and we have access to the same data?

Do teams dump salaries at trade deadline by trade or otherwise?

Do players that get traded to a bad team seek a buyout of their contract if they join a bad team? Granger, Big Baby from last year. D. Fisher from a year or so ago.

Do teams switch goals on the fly say from trying to make the playoffs to tanking if injuries hurt team?

Please add this back. I used to love making older players a couple years younger to stay in the league longer. I hate when the older players retire after one season. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Also have you guys ever considered adding simming quaters and intervening in games? I been playing since 2k5 and have never finished a season without simming games. A lot of us dont have time to play 82 games. With simming quaters it will be way easier to play a whole season.

With the amount of customization options 2K has given us, everyone should be happy with this! For the guys that like to replicate the NBA season exactly, you can do it. For us would be commissioners who think the CPU completes some absolutely ridiculous trade deals, we can block them.

Choosing draft class quality from year to year, how often blockbuster trades happen and everything else in between, this is a basketball fans dream mode and as long as there are no groundbreaking bugs, this is really reason for all of us to celebrate.

We can finally play our Association the way we want it. Has a player been playing above expectations all year, edit his rating to reflect that. This really is a brilliant move by 2K. Just when we thought they had given up on listening to their fans, they show us they still care by doing this. They really proved they listened to all us crazy Association guys feedback from last year.

All I can say is bravo 2K, bravo.

I know in the initial interview we learned that there was morale difficulty, but I was wondering if you could simply reset a players morale if needed?

For example, in real life IF Ray Allen signs with Cleveland and doesn't even really get any playing time to start the season, then he probably won't be upset. Especially, since they're likely saving him for late in the season and the post season. However, in past 2k games veteran players always just wanted to play or they would get upset. If we see someone like a Ray Allen or Chauncey Billups, etc with low morale can we just select improve their morale through a setting? And if not, would that be something that you guys could add in?

I plan on only controlling one (maybe two) team(s), so I'm mostly worried about the CPU teams players.
