I got the ground game sewed up. I can control the CPU on the ground for most the round now (if they gas themselves). Stand up I'm solid now also using the strong blocks, weak blocks, parry, and sways. My big issue is stopping the take down consistently. I can only get it once for twice a fight even though I know the buttons it's such a short window (with these guys at least).

Video is processing to show what I mean.

I love the take down defense controls. My success rate at stopping them is pretty good. My standup is also on point, but my ground game could use some work. Probably gonna run through that tutorial again just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

After a few more fights, I'm liking the controls a bit better. I figured out how to knee in the face from the clinch, which is a very easy way to KO the CPU. Then I worked on the submission game, which is very difficult because I suck at mini-game type stuff.

I could do without the circus kicks, but I do like what I'm playing. The only real question for me is whether the CPU AI is good, so I'll be waiting for aholbert's impressions to decide whether I get the retail or just Gamefly it.

Alright me showing off some of the key parts of the striking game. steps, sways, strong block, weak block, and the parry system. I'm also picking my strikes and throwing pretty much what I want "most" of the time. I'm Gus by the way.

You will also see me fight the ground game in the first round as I keep trying to go for a sub from full mount but it would not engage so I'm not sure what is up with that. Then in the second round you will see me let the computer gas then completely maintain top control for the easy win.

^ Nice vid. I like the ground work in that second round. Just pre-ordered this through the PSN store, so now the waiting game begins.

I feel like we've yet to see a truly great MMA game. I've really played the heck out of the demo and I've enjoyed it. The basic physics of this game are really solid, so I think something special can be built around it after a few iterations. They definitely need to re-imagine the control scheme for EA UFC 2. There's a lot of fun to be had in just the demo version we have now though. Pretty pumped to get my CAF into the TUF house on the 17th.

Upon further review I think this game is just AWESOME!! after spending some time getting the controls better, man what a difference. Does the CPU adapt to your style?? I mean because the more sim you play the more sim the CPU does. When I was still getting know the game the CPU just threw blindly it seemed...but now, I see the game in a whole new light. And this is only the demo!!!!!! I'm so HYPED FOR THIS GAME AGAIN!! I haven't touched watch dogs today which says a lot because that game is AWESOME TOO!! Don't let anyone say different... to EA, the game has sooooooooooooo much depth to it. Guys please some time with the demo, it makes a world of difference. Go through the tutorial numerous times if you have to, it makes a difference trust me.

Jones has a glass chin. I just beat him 6 times in under a minute, 3 of them being under 20 seconds. Glad this is on easy mode.

One thing I found interesting is that I did not see Rogan and Goldberg anywhere at cageside but you can see Dana White, the ring girls and Stitch.

It's the demo version. Lots of things are left out.

Having not touched the demo as of yet I have one question. Every video I've seen shows single leg takedowns but no double leg which is odd as I can't remember the last time I saw so many single leg takedowns in real life result in the guy getting tossed to the mat with such relative ease. Are there double leg takedowns at all? Is it a case of single leg takedowns being easier to complete? Just curious, thanks in advance.

Don't fall for that trap. Normally what you see in a demo will be in the retail version. ONLY difference normally is its more polished and of course fully unlocked far as mode and playable characters.

What you see now is most definitely what you're going to get.

There are double legs. You see more single legs because those are done by moving the left stick forward. Doubles are done by moving it back when you hit the takedown button.

Good to hear. Assuming you've tried out the demo did you find single leg takedowns to be far too successful when trying them yourself? They looked rather easy and the animation of the guy grabbing it then tossing the guy to the mat like a rag doll seemed a little ridiculous in the few videos I watched tonight but maybe it's a setting issue that is allowing it to be so highly effective.

This is one thing Im confident is just a setting issue when going against the CPU. Once you get the hang of it all takedowns (double and singles) are easy but I expect the CPU will be able to defend it better.

The cage interacts and if you are close, you can use it for leverage. There is a video here where a guy pulls off an elbow and Jones bounces off the cage and to the ground. Nice sequence.

Every fight I have I am enjoying it more and more. There are a couple of things about the ground game that I'm not keen on but apart from that, and too many highlight kicks it's pretty good.

I am really liking the submission system. I think it's my favorite part of the game, especially trying to incorporate the left stick to tighten it.
