I'm starting to really like the game finally. I HATE the aggressive AI and how so many moves look the same from every fighter (judging based off video with Chuck Liddell that is on the demo), but the controls I'm starting to finally grasp.

If they adjust the stamina and aggressive AI ohhh man this could be a knock out.

Same here. I really enjoy all phases of the game--standup, clinch, and ground.

The only concerns for me are the AI and whether every fighter has the same move set. It's one thing to see Jon Jones jump off the cage, but if I see Roy Nelson doing a showtime kick in the game, I don't know if I can take it. I'm holding out hope that those two issues are just due to this being a demo.

I downloaded and played a few matches last night. I have to say, I thought that is was pretty fun. The only real complaint that I have is that some of the camera pans and when the fighters moved, it was kind of choppy...maybe even a bit laggy. Hopefully, it will smooth out by time the retail version hits the shelves. Other than that, I think that it will be a lot of fun.

I can see where people may think this is a button mashing, arcade, not a simulation type game. However, after playing a few rounds, I can also see where if you take your time to learn the controls it can make for a pretty precise bout.

I am playing on the PS4, by the way. I am downloading it to the XBOX One tonight, just to get a comparison.

I don't know if I love the ground game yet, but it could be partly because I'm still not familiar with the controls yet (even after going through the tutorials and watching the videos).

It could be that the fighters are both just really good at getting back to their feet, but I can't keep the CPU on the ground very long and on the flip side they can't hold me down either (This is probably because it's set to easy). When I'm on top, I'm not sure how to keep the CPU from just kicking me off and standing back up. Is there a way to block their transitions?

I remember in the first THQ's first UFC game the ground game was tough. I went through a career as a WW and did everything that I could to avoid Matt Hughes, because once he got on top, I couldn't get him off of me. In UFC '10 they ground game took a step back and you could easily get your opponent off of you with three little flicks. UFC 3 was in-between the two. I'm hoping that this game brings the fear back to the ground-game.

Other than that I really need to get better at stopping takedowns. If I'm getting hammered like this on easy, I can only imagine what the tougher levels will be like.

Thanks for the video. Gave me a better perspective of an actual UFC fight, as I'm not THAT big of a fan and never actually watched a full match. With that being said, I agree with you guys statements about me being used to the louder smack sound in older games which gave off the illusion of more impact.

I watched your vid, then went back and played a few matches and it was pretty close to the real thing. Completely changed my outlook. Not that it wasn't a first day buy before, but my excitement level is back up to 10 from probably around 7.

On another note, Phobia, that recent vid you posted was impressive. Looks like you're a sim guy such as myself, i.e you know how to MAKE a game play as sim as you want it to. With that said, there is NO equivalent to my simness lmao and that video only made me excited to show you a thing or two lmao!!

Hope ya'll ready, cause I'm going straight beast mode on the 17th and it WILL be incredibly difficult to win against me!!!!!

^^ You guys don't want to mess with Phobia or Matt when it comes to UFC games, those guys will crush your spirit.

I finally played the demo. I must say, I really enjoyed it. I went 2-3. Once I get the controls down, it will get even better. I can't wait to play as the rest of the fighters.

are the fighters' ratings editable? hopefully yes so maybe stamina can be tweaked....

I hung with Matt for a round. I was proud of myself and greatly accepted that moral victory.

Phobia, on the other hand, destroyed me in every opportunity. Thought about disconnecting and playing dumb a couple times. Yup. That bad.

Have you guys seen the fighters have "abilities" or "traits" is a better way to describe it. Hit Square at the fighter select screen and use the R1 to go to the right couple times. I just noticed that last night. Pretty cool stuff.

@Shiz, leagues should be fun this year. I think this control scheme will have more depth to it though. Me and Matt were just good at reversals on the ground. When we would fight it was reversal after reversals and a lot of people never got the reversal system down to that degree.

If the stamina is done right, then add in the strong blocks plus the parries. I think this could prevent some cheese online. Also since I've learn to use steps to prevent being cornered against the cage, it appears the online could be very balanced.

I remember Matt getting me in the clinch. I now know what Franklin felt like against Silva. I started panicking and just started pressing buttons.

I remember fighting Phobia in a Pride Tournament... After getting my *** whopped for awhile I pretty much gave up on winning. All I wanted to do was get him down and soccer kick him in the face, so that I could consider that a moral victory...
It was a loss on both fronts.

Like I said a few days ago, I think that this game online with two "sim' users is going to play pretty well. Much like how (imo) Madden and NCAA actually plays fairly decent online with two sim guys going at it, but against the CPU it's hit or miss with most games.

Yeah, I figured out the clinch faster than most in UFC 3. Throw on top of it i was using a muay thai expert in shogun. Also like phobia said, we were both good at reversals, mainly because a lot of guys in our league didn't quite understand stalled transitions to counteract guys who aggressively persued reversals. A ground game between phobia and myself played out much slower. We both respected the others ability to time a reversal, and started moving slower, stalling the transition to make it much more difficult to reverse.

I like that you can evade punches, but man they need to adjust the stamina to where, long and short term, if you throw heavy like the CPU does now, you pay. It is just too forgiving right now.

I'm seeing the CPU throwing several shots in a row and then easily slipping into a modified punch or kick. I am even seeing the same punch output followed by a strong takedown. That is crazy.

Was off yesterday and after some cleaning I played hours of UFC. The more things you learn the more fun the game will be. After a couple of hours of playing against the CPU. My roommate (occasional gamer, Fight night lover, button smasher and special move spammer) grabbed a controller.

1 v 1 He has Jones I have Alex. Granted by this time I have at least 70+ fights to his maybe 5 vs the CPU. I out strike him technique wise, but he spammed axe and wheel kicks with 2 or so punches thrown in to KO me in the 1st round.

Throughout the night I won about 85% of the fights and learned far more about the game than I could've playing the CPU.

I love the game and it's definitely a day 1 buy.

My gripes:

- Special moves: superman punch, flying knees and "spinning sh*t" don't affect stamina nearly as much as it should.

- Fighters shouldn't be able to power slam their opponent while gassed.

- punches thrown while on the ground are a bit stiff for my liking.

Sidenote. I know ppl hate how anyone (assumption) can do kicks, knees and punches off of the cage, but man is it a blast to set my roommate up rocked near the cage and finish him off with a flying knee off the cage.

I played it a lot more and and warming to it as well, but the controls I hope they patch or something so that we can map them our selves. R1+(right kick) is Gus's leg kick, but (back+rightkick) is head kick, (back+L2+right kick) is body kick ... it just doesn't make sense, and is inconsistent when you consider a bunch of other commands. controls like ufc3 I'd rather, nothing=body, L2 = leg and L1 or r1 =head, and translate that to the thai clinch as well,

Another graple control I wish was that sprawl was the RS alone and not + block since it's a different action and not intuitive for me

The punching is a lot better though.

What's really strange is how the cpu opponents behave changes DRASTICALLY every time I boot up the game. Sometimes it's a kicking-gallery show-off and other times a little more boxing/take-down more chill.

I'm completely on the fence. I mostly do career and sp fights using guys I enjoy watching in the ufc like cerrone, kampmann, gsp, rua, silva, shad, belcher, rumble etc.

and to piggyback on something Hiro just said about stamina, I noticed Gus's overhand right drains it substantially more than most moves - i'd have to check, but maybe more than his cyclone kick (which he shouldn't even have)
