MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

People don't understand that the store isn't even up to date yet.

You can see evidence of it in the Michael Jackson 1-song-a-day thing. The May 6th song isn't available to be listened to, and last I checked...today was May 6th.

So while people are crying and whining -- this is not a The Show issue, it's a PSN issue. Like I said earlier, the only other option was to release the 1.70 firmware earlier, so The Show was available for pre-loading.

But Tuesdays is usually when they update the PSN, and this is nothing new.

But in this day and age...good luck getting that across to people...

So just saying dont get stuck with both versions of the game. You guys do deserve refunds though, and if Sony doesn't follow through do charge backs with your bank or credit card company.
Yeah. The way I understand it is that Sony puts in a "request" for a refund that still needs to reviewed and approved. You guys will probably get a refund in this case but it's not always garaunteed.

Yeahhhhhh, so I just sat on the phone for half an hour to wait for Customer Support. I was transferred to a line and heard people talking in the background... Now I know that's never a good thing and it wasn't as I was then hung up on by them.

Very irritated right now, but not at SCEA or any of those guys, just this awful support team. My god.

Then don't advertise it as being available at 12:01. It's seriously like talking to a brick wall with some of you.

What if this is nothing new? And while some folks are looking at the phrase "any time after 12:01" as some sort of a warranty, other people expected delays on the scheduled maintenance day for the PSN?

This. is. nothing. new.

Maybe Sony shouldn't have used that phrase, but that phrase is technically still correct. We can get into the semantics of the english language....but nah...I'll leave it there.

Whatever I have to go to work, but you guys can feel free to keep on being apologists to further annoy people.

Once again though, with the added PS+ revenue Sony has to do better than this. This is a recurring problem, I don't see why should anybody believe they will correct it at this point.

For what it's worth, following is the conversation I just had with Sony online. Take it for what you will.
Angel J: Hi, my name is Angel J. How may I help you?
Allen N: I preordered MLB 14 for PS4 and it won't download.
Allen N: Having researched the ongoing problem online and seeing no quick fix in the near future, I've now purchased a physical copy of the game from my local Walmart and would like compensation for the $59.99 I paid for the pre-order. I know this will likely be credited solely to my Playstation Wallet, and I'm fine with that.
Angel J: I see, Allen. I'd be happy to look into this for you today.
Angel J: Although you have entered information about a SEN account before this chat, could you please provide the following to confirm the *exact* account you need assistance with?
- Sign-In ID (email address)
- Online ID
Allen N: [email protected]
Allen N: EUBlink
Angel J: Allow me one moment please.
Allen N: Ok.
Angel J: Thank you for your patience, here's your reference number xxxxxxxx. You will be receiving an email notification within the next 7 business days.
Allen N: Notification for what?
Angel J: That the refund has been added to your wallet.
Allen N: So is this a confirmation for a refund or a case number to be looked into about giving a refund? Just wanting to make sure I'm on the same page with you, no offense intended. I just don't want to pay $59.99 twice (plus tax) and not receive compensation.
Angel J: I understand, Allen. I have submitted your case, please note that the refund process takes about 7 business days and the refund will be added to your wallet at the PS Store.
Allen N: Alright, thanks for your time! I'll note the reference number and save the conversation.
Angel J: Is there anything else I can assist you with today, Allen?
Allen N: I believe that's it.
Angel J: Thank you for contacting PlayStation Chat Support.

This is a very good post. You can tell throughout the patterns of release that the system is flawed to begin with. I haven't tried the 12:01am available to download system with another game but I'm sure with the model they're running it's been like this too. Also, people saying "talking to a brick" etc obviously have very static opinions and refuse to see new facts and roll with the punches. It's a PS store issue, it's been identified and I'm sure it'll be fixed in the future.

Still not buying another game digitally til it is, though.

Exactly. People need to look up "entitlement" because they clearly are using a word they don't understand in a sarcastic manner.

When you purchase something you are, by definition, ENTITLED to own it. We were told we would own this product at 12:01am. The company has yet to deliver on that promise.

Why complaining about that fact makes *us* the bad guys in this scenario I will never comprehend.

Im not angry that the game is not there, thats technology and thats life... humans make mistakes, things happen.

What im disappointed at is the lack of communication, im scrabbling around a '3rd party' site in the form of Operation Sports in order to try and find some information about when it might be there etc

No matter what, communication is the lifeline of a company... ive worked in various industries and in one of them as a manager, if we lost our online systems which affected the customers and business clients, within minutes we had updates going out online, on phone lines, even calling the bigger clients direct to explain.. this would be an hourly exercise so people knew what was going on.

Now I know Sony is huge and the customer base for this game is going to be close to if not over 1 million for downloads... then just a simple PSN notification would suffice, they know the usernames that ordered the game.. so send out a.. Sorry cant download blah blah blah etc and do that every hour that its not available until there is more news.

idk, just my take on it.

Still thanks to this site, im in the loop as much as I can be right now

Could be the incessant crying and whining as if someone's $60 was somehow more valuable than anyone else's.

That could get in the way of people hearing the "facts."
