MLB 14 The Show News Post


MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

Gxray: Okay but that doesn't give me back the 8+ hours I've been waiting since the game was promised to be released over 8 hours ago
Gxray: Is there going to be compensation for this delay?
Fidel C.: At this moment we would like to compensate you, however, we have not received yet that information., But, rest asssure that at the moment we received that information, we will definitely let you now. I thank you for your understanding.
Gxray: Is there someone you can escalate this to so I can get this resolved? I don't wanna wait only to hear nothing. This is unacceptable that I paid for a product that was promised at a certain time and you guys failed to deliver
Fidel C.: And it is completely understandable, rest assure that we are working hard to solve this situation, my superiors are working sending the reports to our technicians in order to work soon in the availability of the content for you.
Gxray: We're past the point of resolution though. Just putting the game up isn't going to give me back the 8+ hours I've waited for the problem to be solved. If you aren't able to compensate me in some way then point me to a superior or someone who can

Lol, you had me for a second until I went back and read the OP. It says "anytime after 12:01am est". That would be read to mean from 12:02am until eternity, imo.

I really wonder if SONY thought this through. If they want to update the storey every Tuesday, yet offer a download available after 12:01, it'll never work.

Most, if not all games release on a Tuesday, so I really don't see how this only happens with this title and not the others.

This sucks but whatever, I'm certain the game will be available to download at some point today, which is still release date. Luckily I have no time to think about this during work, and hopefully I can download this while watching the playoffs this evening.

As insane as it may sound, I do rather enjoy the anticipation of a big release like this a little more than having the game itself. It's strange, but when a game like this releases, I always miss the build up to it.

Just looking at the bright side.

It became May 6 at 12:00am.

I can't believe we're really arguing this. We all know what the statement on the purchase screen meant and implied. You can't even parse it any other way than that the download would be available shortly after midnight on May 6.

Sony wouldn't even attempt such spin, so why are some of you doing it for them?

Makes sense, but the $60 isnt the point, its $120 thats really the point to me. Because its an extra $60 I shouldnt have to go out and spend. I have a walmart and meijer less than 2 miles from my house, so I could have went at midnight. Now if I want the game, its get a refund for $60 and go spend another. I wont download another digital game ever again, I guarantee that, was on the fence about this one till yesterday about 6pm. What was I thinking!

Just got back from Wal-Mart. Game is installing. Will be canceling my pre order. I only pre ordered so I could download over night and have it ready to play when I got up. But I guess that was to much to ask for.

I'm glad I bought a physical copy for my son on top of my digital preorder. I preordered mine as I prefer digital but I'll use the physical copy until the spot settles down and just download my preorder digital version a little later in the week.

For all those getting excited over a refund, slow down....I had something similiar with my purchase of Infamous: Second Son. It didn't show up as purchased for nearly a week and few days before it did I requested a refund. I was told by the Live Chat representitive that I would get a refund. Two days later (still no d/l available) I get an e-mail saying that all purchases are final and a refund would not be issued. Seeing as this is my second time I've had an issue with Sony's online store I won't be making the mistake again for a long, long time.

If that's the case, I'll email the conversation I had with both agents to the customer service of my credit card and consider and file a complain and ask for the transaction to be cancelled.

I won't shoot the gun took quick, but they better not do that, because I'm giving Sony a break, but it won't last if the refund isn't there in 7 days.

I'm definitely not doing another digital pre-order. However, I have yet to have a problem buying digital games otherwise. So while I'm out more cash upfront, it'll be used for the same purpose eventually.

Even if you make the present value of money argument, assuming you invest the $60 at X% return, it's so insignificant because I'll be buying another game this year. It just looks like my copy of The Last of US or NHL 15 is paid for already!

I had the same situation with Thief (awful, awful game), customer service said a refund wouldn't be an issue then I got the same email saying no refunds... I'm with you, no more digital for me, which means no more games for me since I was going all-digital this gen. I hope The Show is good since it will be the last game I buy for a very long time.

Man and to think I was about to go digital. So glad I went disc and with my GCU membership paid $50. Good luck to the rest of you though.
