MLB 14 The Show News Post

The Opening Day version of the MLB 14 The Show Operation Sports Full Minors is ready for release.

As in past years... A LOT of work has gone into creating these rosters by many, many contributors.

I would like to thank each and every one of them IMMENSELY!
Without them all, this task would unlikely come to fruition.
It's a labor of love for all of these guys and I would like to ask anyone that comments in this thread to please be civil (unless you are heaping on praise...then go full bore! )

I'm sure there will be disagreements on player choice, potential and any number of ratings. That's fine and all will be taken into account, but don't degrade the thread with posts that are unbecoming.

I for the most part stay with the editors spirit of how they see their players. There were changes for balance. For the most part, I left potentials unless I felt they were too far out of bounds.

There are roughly 1500 user created players in this set.
All minor league players are edited to be a real player, with all faces done.

The set is mirroring Opening Day as best as possible in lineups and rotations at all levels. There were some cases where a total AAA or AA could not be met, as prospects took precedence.

I don't want to mention any editors in particular, but RidinDwnKingsley must receive a big mention here. The guy is just tremendous in his efforts to get this set out. Big kudos here.
There were many... Visit the chart
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...rive_web#gid=0 to see everyone involved. A lot of guys went above and beyond...

Also note that Willard76, a major contributor is going to take the O.D. set and edit a ton of things (including SCEA players, which are all "stock" on this set) for his release of the Hybrid set (here is the thread, I encourage you to check it out.)

I hope I didn't leave anything out.....

Guys, Brucewhorn is gone, no need to continue to quote his post to argue with a banned user. Thanks.

So, dumb rookie question. Do I need to use a jump drive download it from here then upload it to my PS4 or is it like rosters for NCCA football where you search for a file on the ps servers? I see a link for a download but is that the only way to get this file?

Hit square to sort by # of download's and it's the first one on the list.

It works just like NCAA rosters work. Search for a file on the server.

If you take a look at the original out of box roster it has Mchugh at the same rating as the OSFM roster, but if you load up the latest SCEA roster he has been changed to a 73. Looks like H/9,Hr/9 and K's were changed by SCEA. I assume that all th eplayers you have noticed is that of SCEA doings and not a OSFM roster editor. So I can see your frustration there.

Thats exactly what it is... Thank you

I'm doing them on the PS3.....because I have a lot of team rosters that I need players from there.
I'm going to then look through them on the4 for the beards.
I'll note the ones that are PS4 specific.

Seems to me that these rosters are always worth the wait, especially if its only one more night.
Thanks beantown....I'm working on them now. Got caught up at work
I'll definitely have them ready tomorrow night.
Sorry for the delay guys!
Thanks for holding on!

Yeah....too bad the guy didn't just be a little more civil......
I really don't mind criticism where it's warranted...and I definitely don't mind suggestions for fixes/tweaks...but you gotta at least give us a chance to find out what you mean!(and if it's our doing! )

Sorry he got banned....but...

Hey guys…if I already started a franchise, is that the roster I have to use the rest of the time? Or, can I update player ratings on the fly with a new roster? Thanks in advance

Yep, you're stuck, something we all hope for in the future is mid-franchise player import. But for now if anyone wants to start a franchise or RTTS I'd wait for the next OSFM release which should be soon that has corrections to the first release.

That's what I thought. At least I'm only one game in!

What's the correct file structure for PS4? I can't seem to get it to work despite following directions.

Im guessing you cant use these with The Shows regular rosters that get constantly updated? Like you can't use these with the shows rosters

Correct. The game only allows for one roster set to be active at once so it's either the SCEA roster that gets updated every Monday or the truly brilliant OSFM set

Good thing it was decided to import SCEA created players. I was using Mike Olt on the Cubs, a SCEA created player added in a roster update, and before his at-bat it showed his stats (through 3 minor league teams) and was acquired in the Matt Garza trade. Thought that was pretty cool! Didn't realize they added stats and facts like that for created players.

I used Olt for Xavier Avery since they had almost identical service time, I wonder if he has Olt's minor league stats too

Avery wasn't in the game? I used Olt for Gregorio Petit and tested more than once to see if he'd have the scripted lines. He didn't so I think we're good.

Quick question. Does this roster set include edits to the core MLB players as far as arm strength, batting attributes, and pitch edits for MLB pitchers, with regards to types of pitches and their break/speed/movement etc?

Or, is this roster set devoted to making the minor/AA/AAA players as close to their real life counterparts for Franchise purposes, and future progressions?

Thanks.

I believe that this roster is only to create the minor league players. If you are looking for rating adjustments and whatnot then I suggest you have a look at Willard's Hybrid roster.

I've always wondered something about OSFM, because I've never made it past more than one season in the Show. How do these rosters project over the long term vs the SCEA rosters?

The reason I ask is, in the SCEA rosters you see some much higher ranked players in the minors, guys with contact in the 60's and 70's whereas in the OSFM roster, most of the minors is filled with ratings in the 40's and 50's. There seems to be more variability in the SCEA rosters too (some very good and very bad on each team) whereas with the OSFM roster again, mostly everyone is 40's and low 50's for all ratings.

So since there seems to be a discrepancy as to how SCEA rates fake minor leaguers and how OSFM rates real minor leaguers, I'm assuming that creates a balance issues down the road with the OSFM rosters once the minors start to fill up with SCEA fake minor leaguers through the draft, right?

Please understand that I'm not saying one roster is better than the other or criticizing the ratings in OSFM. I understand why the ratings are how they are. I'm just wondering how these project in the longterm and compare to the stock SCEA rosters.
