MLB 14 The Show News Post

Hey everyone, I’m Kirby St. John, a designer with the MLB The Show development team. My main focus year-to-year is improving and evolving one of our most popular modes, Road to The Show. The mode made some big strides last year, especially in terms of gameplay and presentation, but for MLB 14, we really wanted to focus on the logic and systems that govern the mode in an effort to allow for more variety and less restrictions. We also wanted to provide some new experiences never seen before in RTTS. The video touched on a lot of topics, but in this blog I will expand on what was introduced there and discuss some of the exciting things that were only briefly mentioned.

I generally do not play in the field. I wonder how that will affect my RttS player as far as the amount of training points awarded if I don't actually play in the field.

Love the changes

A bit confused. So say you are killing it in AA as a starter, you will be more likely to be called up to AAA then you would have in this years game?

I thought about that too and I would think its either you get the points even if you do not actually do the fielding or not... or its like when you sim a full game and only get 50% of the points you would get if you had played the game instead..

but what do I really know anyways haha

From what I gathered, you would be or you could be called straight up to the Majors.

I give RTTS a shot every year, and this year will be no different. I definitely like every change they've made to this year's mode, and it should make the experience better. This team is so great at what they do!

Also, I noticed in the second to last screenshot a player has a batting stance that looks like it might be Chris Davis'! Even if it's not, it appears to be a good substitute for him if they didn't change it.... I always love seeing all the improved batting stances

Poor franchise mode. I wish that mode got half the love this one gets every year. Even with these changes, the mode still doesn't pull me in. I
But hats off to the RTTS peeps. You win.

All the new improvements sound great. I can't wait to do RTTS this year since we can take it on to next year's game. Honestly this mode got old to me the last couple iterations because I used to play it almost exclusively, but restarting a career every year wore me out. I'm hyped to take it on to next year's game.

This isnt the Franchise Blog. Its the RTTS blog.
When you see the Franchise Blog, then you can decide what was included, added or left out.

It never fails. No matter how great something is, someone will always come in and say something negative. Neat.

He's been doing this in every thread he pops up in since February.

You guys have done it now, SCEA SD.

As if the 300+ hours I spend in Franchise Mode wasn't enough for you. Now you go and give me the changes I needed to play RTTS too and I'll never have time for anything anymore.

Great. Just great...

I think it would be cool if you could choose the college you went to. Even though you wouldn't actually play there. I think that would add more depth if they had the college or hs of everyone in the game. Just a thought.
