Hey everyone, I’m Kirby St. John, a designer with the MLB The Show development team. My main focus year-to-year is improving and evolving one of our most popular modes, Road to The Show. The mode made some big strides last year, especially in terms of gameplay and presentation, but for MLB 14, we really wanted to focus on the logic and systems that govern the mode in an effort to allow for more variety and less restrictions. We also wanted to provide some new experiences never seen before in RTTS. The video touched on a lot of topics, but in this blog I will expand on what was introduced there and discuss some of the exciting things that were only briefly mentioned.

I only tinker with this mode each year. The advancement goals were always what killed me.

Kirby and the team have taken this mode in a whole new direction towards realism.

I'm actually going to say this for the first time ever! ! I'm excited about playing RTTS this year! !

Kirby. So this does mean it's easier to get called up to the higher levels then it did the past few versions right?

Not necessarily, but you will now see those instances of guys (on rare occasions) that are 'fast-tracked' to the bigs.

Even AA to AAA? I would think that it's easier to do that then previous years.

Or does it not base it on stats?

Don't count on it. The show runs at 28 frames, with 720p. 28 frames and no 1080 is an insult to PS4 owners and pretty pathetic.

So, somehow road to the show doesn't include gameplay? Thats weird because it is a playable mode...
