MLB 14 The Show News Post

PlayStation.Blog has posted their MLB 14 The Show developer blog which details quick counts and player lock features, which help complete games faster.

Other details not mentioned in the video are listed below.
  • Quick Counts and Player Lock are game options; they aren’t mandatory.
  • Quick Counts and Player Lock are available in all game modes except Road To The Show.
  • Player lock will allow you to play a full game in as little as 10 minutes.
  • With Quick Counts on, you will cut your game completion times in half if used in conjunction with the Fast Play presentation setting. Games can now be completed in as little as 30 minutes.
  • Realistic stats in Quick Counts have not been compromised. However, you may see a slight increase in strike outs and walks.
  • To customize your Player Lock experience, visit the Options page and access the RTTS Options.
  • Player Lock fielding uses fielder-perspective controls, so all bases are mapped opposite of non-Player Lock games (i.e. Square = First, X = Second, Circle = Third, Triangle = Home)
What are your thoughts on quick counts and player lock?

I watched this blog again just now and noticed one more thing. Nick Castellanos on the Tigers had the "Rookie" icon next to his name. I know on MLB 13 that no players with service time were recognized as rookies, even if they should have been. Dylan Bundy for example. Good to see that got fixed, I don't believe it was a problem before MLB 13

Uh oh...looks like Dustin Pedroia started doing that "unrealistic" jersey sleeve thing in real life, will they ever get it right?!

Seeing from the video, unfortunately it looks like there will still be the same old 2 options for game times: Day and Night.

There really should be actual times to pick: 1:30, 4:15, 7:30, and 8:00.

Maybe the PS4 version will have the option to start games at different times? I would like options for 1, 4, and 7 start times. Also I would like an option for a real time clock where it uses the built in PS4 clock.

I am completely baffled by the complaining and arguing over sleeves, with no evidence other than one still photo of an early build of a version that is still in production.

But I guess if that is all there is to complain about, then I guess that says a lot about this game and it's Developers

Loll at the people trying to say the jerseys look like what they should look like.

Goes to show how good the game is, when their fan base is so loyal, that they'll argue something completely wrong and try to prove it for the games sake.

But you say with such certainty that the PS4 will have lousy cloth physics? Care to share the video only you've seen?

Everything i said was based on the pictures we've seen so far, and also the fact that jerseys looked bad on ps3 already and seems to not have changed.

Kind of laughable to compare Basketball and Soccer cloth physics to Baseball cloth physics. Apples...................................Oranges.. ...................................Halos

Video games are video games, especially sports video games.

Graphics in sports video games are very comparable, it's more of a
cherries . . .. . . . . . berries situation

Sorry to break it to you but they aren't, among the same sport a little. But once you switch sports you should throw all of your assumptions out the window.

Apples to pencils

If thick baseball uniforms bounced around like those light-weight mesh soccer/basketball jerseys in the game, Kehlis would have to hold a ban-parade from all the complaint threads.

I'm not saying progamming and developing the games are similar, i'm saying graphics are comparable.

Before some actual pictures came out, people were saying this game was going to look as good as nba 2k next gen, and now that they came out, graphics of different sports game aren't comparable?

Also, on ps3, everyone used to say that The Show was the best looking sports game, but now sports games graphics aren't comparable.

Makes sense.

No that does not make sense. They are not the same. From the rules, the number of players/coaches/umps on the field, the equipment, the venues and on and on. Processing cloth physics for 10 players jerseys in a basketball game is different than doing it for all the players on the field/dugout/bullpen entire uniforms in a baseball game.

To be fair it's more like 24 if you include an NBA game's bench players (both teams). But your point stands - the number of dugout/bullpen players dwarfs an NBA team's bench.

This is more of an opinion thing anyways.

I say you can compare the graphics of sports game to one another, you say you can't do that.

Considering the fact that most people do compare graphics of all games, especially sports game, i'll stick with what I'm saying.

I was also saying "makes sense" sarcastically because last gen everyone was saying that MLB the Show's graphics are better than any other sports games' graphics (which was true IMO), but now that that might not be the case on ps4, people are saying you can't compare graphics of different sports games. Ironic how that works.

I don't think he's telling you not to stick with it, he's just telling you you're wrong.

You can't be wrong with an opinion

Bench players in the NBA aren't even wearing jerseys, too. You wear "warm up" shirts until you're called to go play. So that makes NBA even easier.

I know absolutely nothing about soccer. I dont even know how many men are on the field. I won't touch or comment on FIFA.

But baseball has by far, more people actually in uniform, than basketball or hockey. Actually, it has more people in uniform than those two sports combined.
