45 on meta critic now..this game will arguably be the lowest rated game for next gen launch games

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but Gamespot's review:

What did he say that wasn't true though? Lol

this is why igns review is worthless. the guys clearly have no intention of trying to play the game realistically. for a game the review called a dunkfest, you would think they would show...you know...at least one dunk in their gameplay. but nope. he also talks about there being too many blocked shots. in that gameplay there were 3 total blocks even with them forcing up horrible shots. but yea i can see why ign is a credible source for their review.

ill wait until i try it myself to form a real opinion. i cant take the reviews seriously when they dont know how to play the game. same goes for 2k14. their live gameplay for that game didnt show anything better because they just charged the paint the whole time.

? Running around with Hibbert...he did it once, in a 2 player game. So if people online run around, hold turbo, and make layups or dunks every time that shouldn't matter?

I hope it's better from playing the demo that it is from looking at all released vids but man...that dribbling teaser looked soo much better..

Animations/movement are really non human from what I see...it doesn't resemble the way bball players move..at all.

the reviews seem to say the same things but they contradict each other. its too easy to drive into the paint but there are too many blocks shots. well yea if you try to just charge the paint and dunk or layup without working for a good look i would hope you get blocked often. look at the last play shown in the gamespot video. he tries just forcing up a bad shot in the paint and gets blocked. thats realistic.

the issue with the team not running plays in the career mode is definitely a problem though. they need to fix that. you shouldnt have to press a button every time down to make the players run sets.

Yeah, that must be it. Everyone reviewing the game is just EA haters that don't know "true basketball" like you do.

OR, this game is just a complete turd.

If your a big NBA fan you'll notice the game isn't all that bad by playing the demo. No it's not worth full price but the game isn't horrible either. EA has something here and all they need to do is keep improving and they will be back.
I knew the "pretty graphics" schtick was coming...and canned animations? If reviewers cared that much about canned animations this game wouldn't be getting 4,5's and 6's, because it sure has a lot them...

The fact that he was successfully able to run around with Hibbert as a PG is another problem in itself..

As I said, he didn't say anything that wasn't true...I'd like to see someone refute one of their actual points instead of trying to paint them as biased...I'm a huge NBA fan, and have been playing this game since shortly after the PS4 was released and now own the game as the buyer didn't want it..

I said myself that IGN over did it with their review..but besides the insults, they weren't that far from the truth...it's not a good basketball game...

It has sent me fun moments but the game feels about 50% done to me. Rebounding is awful. Guys like hibbert under the rim watching the ball hit the floor and waiting for the defense to snatch it up.

And really? No game sliders??? Next gen this is not

i posted igns gameplay video and it looks exactly the opposite of what their review states in terms of gameplay. they were down 9-2 because they were trying to charge the paint and take contested jumpers. there were only 3 blocks even with them taking bad shots and only one block up to the point where they said "there have already been several blocked shots". so i think apollooff320 was pretty accurate when saying that a lot of people care more about pretty graphics than anything else. as soon as you see that its not graphically amazing you write it off and it makes everything else seem substandard. i think that if this game looked as good as 2k does from a visual standpoint the scores would be much much better.

the guy who reviewed the game isn't even playing. its his cowroker..and plus, I think he's doing that to illustrate a point. he was playing 2k earlier and wasn't pounding it in..

I've been sitting back and reading all these responses and comments like this is one of the reasons that game developers never take fans seriously. They can release a game that can look like crap and have terrible animations and staunch gameplay, yet someone will come yelling to their defense that no one plays the game right and that is the problem. This game could look gorgeous but if the gameplay is still like this, than it will get reviews like Ryse Son of Rome is getting: It's a pretty game with awful gameplay. Stop with the excuses and stop with the "oh if this was 2K" crap. If 2K released a game like this, there would be Live fans drooling over the chance to mock and destroy the game.

Stop making excuses for developers who don't care. Make them own up to their mistakes and create a better product. I love competitions in the game market. I demand better from Live. I WANT BETTER FROM LIVE. I want to fight over which game I should get. That was the beauty. Madden was at it's best when it had competition coming from all fronts not just 2K (Gameday 99 and others).

Now back to my lurking ways......

This game isn't a gem that is a graphical update away from being a classic...it just isn't...you guys seem hell bent on making it out it out to be, but that's not the case...there are CORE issues with this game....despite what we saw in the video the reviewer was 100% right about blocking being wonky, there's absolutely no ball tracking in the game by paint protecters.

I want an NBA Live 15 man, ignoring these issues doesn't help anyone...

Well said. I'm a lurker like you and it's infuriating at times reading comments from the usual suspects. Some may be playing devil advocates but there are a selected few who I truly believe are guilty of astroturfing for EA as their posts displayed a total lack of objectivity.

he was definitely getting inside more in the 2k gameplay. he had 2 points in the live gameplay and it wasnt even from the paint. it was from an open jumper. to me that says that you CANT just charge the paint like he said you can. if it was so easy it shouldnt matter who plays it everyone should just be able to score at will right? look im not saying the game is great by any means. im saying that the reviewers are incompetent when it comes to playing the game and that makes for an invalid review. my whole point is dont knock it until you learn how to play it. from the videos i saw with people who tried to play realistically the game looked like a decent sim game. players who tried to run and gun without playing smart did horrible in the game.

Right, blocks happen...but there are rarely cases (I haven't seen any) where your timing the offense players move and swatting the ball out.of the air ....I don't know if you've played NBA 2k12, but it's very similar...but worse..

It's almost like blocks are overdone because other than that, there isn't reliable interior defense...

Man Two-Four stop it. You knew what this was back when Live 13 got cancelled. Hell you knew what this was when Elite got cancelled. Honestly before that too. There was dudes lined up to run in front of the firing squad to keep a bullet from hitting Live/EA knowing full damn well they were looking at trash. We all knew that when the day came that EA FINALLY pushed a basketball game out that door there was going to be that group that ate it right up no matter how it actually was. It could of been a game that was literally Kyrie Irving taking a **** from start to finish and there would be that group that would find some way to spin it into a positive. "It's a little rough around the edges, but if you were a real big basketball fan like I am, you'd know that players have to go to the bathroom at some point." "This plays a real solid, fundamental bowel movement. He even reaches for TP, the other game doesn't have that."

The only thing we can do is hope that EA is listening to all the other feedback and making the proper changes. Thing is, they haven't done that for damn near a decade worth of basketball games. I really don't expect them to start now.

I don't get that either.

To say live is a good game is like saying, the bobcats are a good team, but they don't play good together. Lol whats the definition of a team?

Same thing can be applied to games.

That's simply a contradicting statement. How can people accept this game? I had my share of defense too, but after playing the game, its horrible! Devs wanted us to play the game instead of criticizing it when watching it. Well, it turned out, playing it was alot worse than watching it!

I won't say its 4/10 bad. There are some highlight moments, but 5.5-6/10 is warranted. I tried playing the demo a few times after my initial impression..Couldn't get through the first quarter.

I'm not going to put this on the devs entirely. It has to be company direction. Different studio and its still has traits from past lives. EAC makes terrific games. Tiburon is not known for good games...but still..

I tried it and yet, I found his analysis to hold weight, but like I said, the reviewer wasn't playing the game..They were streaming 2k on the XBO on there, so someone find a stream of that. I bet he was playing alot better in 2k then he was in live.
