NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Review (IGN)

IGN has posted the first NBA 2K14 next-gen review, giving it an 8.9 out of 10. In The Park, players can take their MyCAREER player into 2-on-2 half-court, 3-on-3 three-quarter-court, or 5-on-5 full-court games, unfortunately there is no sign of CREW or leagues within the mode.

They mention the MyCAREER voice acting is kind of cheesy, especially considering your player will have audio included, but the people you talk to mostly have subtitles.

In the video review, it looks like warm-ups are confirmed to be back in (for those of you worried about that from earlier videos), the graphics and animations are jaw-dropping, complete with native 1080p and 60 FPS.

Ronnie2K and LD2K will be streaming next-gen NBA 2K14 at 4:00 PM PST today, so we should be able to see and hear even more. For those that are curious, the OS review will be up a week or so after we receive the game. Nobody on staff will have a PlayStation 4 until the 15th.

Broadcast gameplay looks amazing. Park seems cool, but should've had crews to make it easier to play together, maybe next year. Either way, looking forward to Friday

I have zero plans to pick this up for Xbox One as I suffer from 2K fatigue

Since I enjoyed 2K14 for current gen, but haven't played more than 20-25 game yet (cause I've waited for next gen) I thought this review was pretty well. Like he said at the end; if you haven't picked up current gen version, then this is a no-brainer.

I'm happy I haven't started an Association on CG, and haven't played it too much, cause the NG looks like it's a step up, both over 2K13 AND 2K14 CG.

Cannot wait to get this game! But I think they took a bad turn with career mode. This is the first year though, so I dont mind at all!!! YES YES YES. I have my copy just waiting on my ps4!!

How can this score lower then current gen. Makes absolutely no sense what so ever!!! To top it off they score FIFA higher after not sounding nearing as enthused when it come to advancements to next gen. Screw IGN! I hate when these web sites have no logic to there reviews.

That was cool! They only gripe I have without playing it is the color yellow they used on the GS Warrior court. But Friday can't come soon enough.

I predicted if the game plays similarly but looks much better than current gen, it can only get a higher score. Right?...WRONG! Lol. I don't know, the score doesn't make much sense to me considering he had basically nothing but praise for it, but that doesn't really matter.

More importantly, there's a ton of new gameplay clips in the video review and it looks sooooo good. A few of the bulkier players looked accurate as well.

To me it didn't look like a bad turn. They added stuff and made it bigger. Just because the aren't voices for every player, like the reviewer said, it doesn't mean it's a step down. Hey, it's new and added content so why complain?

Seeing actual broadcast camera angle gameplay got me all excited! The lighting and the courts are beautiful! The score is fine for me but man....I can't wait till Friday!

No PC Mod can ever make it look next gen....I'm hoping we get these types of graphics next year...my GTX 780 is ready...

Some good footage in here, especially the park info. I really hope they review Live 14 soon. Doesn't change my decision on getting the game though, already pre-ordered it. Overall good review.

Mycareer= Cheesy

I don't touch My Player so it's a accurate assessment for me personally. As anytime I see my friends playing it I say "you know that mode is cheesy".

This game is clearly the foundation of what is yet to come. My GM has me foaming at the mouth to see what improvements they bring to it and of course the 30 team control option. Once I get that I won't bother with anything else in the game.

He did knock them for the loose ball physics so I dont think he knows the ball is its own object on purpose. It looks less wild here in NG but I agree with him that you don't see it in the NBA too much (sometimes you do) and I also understand why its like that in the game.

Horrible review. He says the modes are lacking and hardly mentions ANYTHING that informs a buyer of the issues.

Damn that looked very smooth...8.9 is good for 2ks first installment on a new console. Idk how I feel about the mute players in my career that was awkward

The gripe about the ball being its own physics object is laughable. Isn't it supposed to be? If it sticks and teleports into players' hands, then that gets complained about.

The mute DeMarcus Cousins is completely ridiculous though, and a valid point of contention. Who thought that was a good idea? A generic voice would have been better than that.
