NBA 2K14 News Post

IGN has posted the first NBA 2K14 next-gen review, giving it an 8.9 out of 10. In The Park, players can take their MyCAREER player into 2-on-2 half-court, 3-on-3 three-quarter-court, or 5-on-5 full-court games, unfortunately there is no sign of CREW or leagues within the mode.

They mention the MyCAREER voice acting is kind of cheesy, especially considering your player will have audio included, but the people you talk to mostly have subtitles.

In the video review, it looks like warm-ups are confirmed to be back in (for those of you worried about that from earlier videos), the graphics and animations are jaw-dropping, complete with native 1080p and 60 FPS.

Ronnie2K and LD2K will be streaming next-gen NBA 2K14 at 4:00 PM PST today, so we should be able to see and hear even more. For those that are curious, the OS review will be up a week or so after we receive the game. Nobody on staff will have a PlayStation 4 until the 15th.

Two things:

1. Weird that he said MyTeam was left in current Gen when we know it is in next Gen.

2. What was the song at the start of the video. Because damn son

"Look at it. Look. At. It".

So, I guess as far as gameplay it's more like 2K6. As far as content, more like 2K7...?

I was just going to make a post about this. What, in the world, has been going on with their dunking sound effects? I've always wondered where those sounds were initially captured and how members of the audio team felt about them. Did they feel they nailed it? Or were they just settling? It's most definitely a small thing that can add up to a big thing for me.

It's becoming more and more likely with each passing day that I'll be passing on the next gen title release, but I think I'm more interested in what 2K15 will look like next gen than 2K14. I'm wondering if the further shift in focus (from current to next gen) will lead to a lot of those long-standing small, annoying missed details being fixed up a little (like the aforementioned rim sounds, less glitchy spasms, etc.). Right now, it still seems to look a little too similar to the next gen experience to get me really, really excited.

It sounds like the garbage truck when its compressing garbage. I've always hated it and surprised its never been fixed. I also hated the artificial crowd noise, especially the one whistling fan in the crowd all the time. NBA crowds don't have that whistling. its not a concert or a hot chick performing, its a game

Also noticed, that the MyPlayers all looked different. That was def a concern for me once it was said they were all pre made, but there seemed to be enough faces to differentiate.

Im Saving them for after tomorrows live stream..

As far as him giving it an 8.9 i think its fair..

Y'know, I'm not knocking IGN on giving next gen an 8.9, because that's still a great score, but I wouldn't base my purchase over an IGN/Gamespot/GameTrailers, etc review. I just don't think the majority of those reviewers are very accurate when it comes to reviewing sports games. That's just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that same guy that did this review also did the IGN rewind for the trailer 2K put out a month ago, and I forgot exactly what he said, but he made a blatant mistake that proved he didn't know much about basketball.

With that said, Friday can't come soon enough.

IGN is full of fan boys that literally don't know anything

After the COD review i really do not go into what they say more so just hear reactions from fans

# 54 Gosens6 @ 11/12/13 01:45 AM
It's IGN. When it comes to sports games they're barely better than gamespot.

The reviewer really didn't touch on anything we didn't already know

Thought it was a fair review.

F epic

Bogut, Garnett Rose and pretty much all the players model are updated to what we seen with the gameplay vids

Upper Body looks perfect now, wow or at least much better from that brooklyn gameplay video

Man, I just wanna see if I plays that involve backdoor cuts etc... will now be more organic due to better collission/footplanting/momentum, it's ok in CG

As for MyCareer being cheesy, it should still be a fun mode. MyGM all i needed to know is i can play the games myself

:thumbs up 2k

I actually thought it was a fair and honest review....at the very least the guys a fan of basketball/ basketball video games...

At least it's not Gamespot, where the guy is saying "I admittedly don't know much about hoops" during the review...

These mainstream review sites like IGN/Gamespot/GameTrailers, etc are NOT reliable when it comes to review scores for sports games.

# 60 KyotoCarl @ 11/12/13 01:48 AM
Well, modes were taken out and it's the first 2K title on NG, they can't really give it much higher. 8.9 is still "great", according to IGN.

Also, this is IGN, I'd look out for Metacritic's score instead after release. Or better yet, form your own opinion.

To be fair, CG's 9.3 rating was a bit high to begin with.

I'd give the games, based on IGN and my own opinions;
CG: 8.9
NG: 9.1
