Before I called it a night last night I had an excellent match playing as Shawn Michaels against John Cena. Ended up surviving two AAs and countless near falls before getting dealt in by a hurracanrana-pin combination.
The thing I have to improve is that I'm terrible at timing when to use my Comeback Moment. I can never quite get enough space to start it up after using the ability, so I end up wasting it.
I continue to get absolutely great competitive matches out of this game, which makes it a ton of fun.

PS3 owners, please tell me that 2K14 isn't like All-Stars where you have to sit and wait for the game data to install every time you take play the game. I just got the game, downloaded a patch, installed it and now the game data is installing. It's been 20 minutes and I haven't been able to play the game yet.
I'm getting competitive matches on hard but I still win most of them, still working on the sliders, stupid me never thought of turning indicators off, that's a really good idea to make things more difficult.
Just had an EPIC Cesaro/Sami Zayn matchup in the NXT Arena. I really am loving this game
Again I ask, how does everyone "work" their matches? Do you treat it as a wrestling simulation or do you treat it as an arcade fighter?

About the only "house rule" I play with is that I must win by pin fall or by signature / finisher submission (unless playing a submission match where the wrestler I'm using has neither, then I force myself to hit at least one finisher). Other than that, anything goes.
Another thing, winning via Leverage Pin / Dirty Pin is also fine. Some of my best matches have been decided by a leverage pin out of nowhere.
It's still pretty tough for me, given the way I've set the game up.

I'm with CM with the only house rule I have is that I have to win by a finisher/signature.
I play to win, but I won't spam moves over and over again. Obviously, each person has a limited amount of moves so you will use the same ones multiple times, but not over and over and over.
The rules go out the window in Defend/Defeat the Streak Mode though, lol.

How are the ladder matches? Haven't played a WWE game for a while but the last one I played, the match never ended because no one stayed down long enough to get the belt.

The "30 Years of WrestleMania" mode is great! I knew it would be since I really enjoyed the Attitude Era mode in 13.
Gameplay has certainly received an upgrade. Played three matches on Hard difficulty and lost all 3. Very encouraged by that.

I am very glad the reversal window was decreased and the timing of reversals was changed for this year's game. Last year it was so easy to reverse because you just simply waited for the move animation to reach a certain point, press the reversal button and 99/100 you were successful.
Daniel Bryan kicked the crap out of me (Triple H) last night because I missed on almost every reversal attempt. Again, this is not me complaining ... I'm happy this is happening because not only does it make the CPU more potent in terms of putting together offensive moves, it adds to the replayability of this game.
Universe Mode is going to be so much fun once I get through the WrestleMania Mode. I'm already drafting up potential rosters for RAW/Smackdown that will be a mix of current-generation wrestlers and all the unlocked wrestlers/DLC/CAW.

^ You say that now man, but I have had the game for a week and I am hip to when to press that RT to attempt a reversal. It is fairly easy now. I have to chill out with it sometime because it is kind easy.
I have to agree with Colts18. At first, it was rough to time reversals. Now, the CPU gives it away with the same move over and over again so you can reverse easily.
I greatly enjoy the game. I thought the controls would be a hard learning curve but they fit nicely. If I could ask for one thing for 2k to add it would be their signature commentary and presentation. In just learning the game I had two great matches with multiple kick outs that would have been even more entertaining with solid commentary.

Finally starting to tweak the sliders. Reached the point where I can counter almost at will, without the indicator on, on legend difficulty.
