New Details Released on Player Sense, True Step, the War in the Trenches and More

The Madden NFL 25 next-generation gameplay conversation begins today with the debut of the all-new “Feel It” trailer. EA SPORTS will be rolling out full gameplay details on Madden NFL 25 website and Facebook page that highlight how the game reaches new heights on next-gen consoles.

New features introduced in Madden NFL 25 include Player Sense, which enables players to scan the field, anticipate situations before they happen and maneuver based on instinct for the first time ever. Players make up to 50 times the contextual decisions they ever have before, bringing a new level of intelligence to every player on the field. In addition, the implementation of True Step player motion provides unprecedented ball-carrier control, as well as the most organic, user-driven outcomes in franchise history.

Furthermore, the War in the Trenches fundamentally changes the dynamic of the offensive and defensive line. Linemen are able to make four times as many decisions per second, and 300 new blocking animations will lead to never-before-seen situations and outcomes. Offensive linemen intelligently identify the “Mike” linebacker, and shift and sort assignments at the snap in order to target the biggest defensive threats. While the offensive line brings a new arsenal of double-team blocks and blitz pick-ups the defense has gotten smarter too, utilizing bluffs, stunts and angles to find the weak point in the line, split double-team blocks or confuse the protection long enough to get into the backfield. Every down is a new battle to control the line of scrimmage.

Looks good to me.

I hope they don't overdo it like they tend to do and every oline becomes the Broncos front. I expect when I drop back with Matty for the pocket to be collapsing on me with regularity lol.

we may actually have a pocket and have to step up into it, wow!!! and I thought a few of the animations weren't as smooth as I had hoped but Madden always animates better on slow settings. I was hoping it was a little smoother but still looked good

That speed rush coming from the right. Wow that was impressive looking.

The "war" in the trenches. WOW! If that what we are going to see EVERY play this is a huge upgrade. To be honest that didn't even look like the same game that we saw from the MNF trailers. It looked better all around. Maybe because the clips were shot in the daytime? Player movements looked smoother but still hard to tell from clips.

O-line D-line looks outstanding nice job Clint Oldenburg. Those guys blocking look to have some "dawg" in em at the line of scrimmage.

Much better EA. There is some hope

Damn, Spencer was shot out of a cannon on his edge rush in that last mini clip. That concerns me, as he obviously moves faster then the black smoke in Lost during that very short span of time. Is that a glitch or did they speed up that animation to unrealistic levels to try to replicate the edge rush? I guess I didn't see it anywhere else, but why would they show that?

It looks better though, no doubt about that. I will give them credit for that, as I have to be fair when it looks better.

I don't know what to think anymore one minute it looks like crap and then the next minute it looks decent.

Having looked a little closer, pay attention to the feet of the DE's. They look like they are on a treadmill at the snap of the ball, most noticeable when they slow down the footage of Russell Wilson in the pocket. Does true-step only apply to offense? Does it not kick in until the animation of firing out of their stance ends? A little concerning to me.

Loved the war in the trenches. Best part of the video. Man, I am hoping Madden steps it up BIG time for next gen. Sad, PS2 Madden days were a lot more fun and had a lot more depth than current gen Madden.

After seeing the NBA 2k14 trailer, I am now not excited about this year's madden. I was planning to wait till next gen to get 25, now I am not so sure. This may well be the first year since 07, I skip madden.

Also, is it just me or does the ball still come out of the qb's hands awkwardly? It annoys me so much.

Depends on what they do with the defense. The defenders still look a little off to me. The oline being improved is great but if its like current gen with the run blocking then the game will still be way too unbalanced. Defense needs some major love.

Where are the referees?

# 37 marshallfever @ 10/18/13 04:39 PM
That looked much better than the previous ESPN videos, nothing mind blowing graphics wise, however the blocking animations are leaps and bounds better

I agree, the way the ball comes out of the QB's hand was bugging me out this whole generation... and now it looks like its still there for this Next Gen Madden.

What I gathered from those clips.

Line play, they improved the animations tremendously. Glad that it actually looks like the players are fighting for position now. Finally. Now they need to add in players being pushed forward or back.

Secondary animations and qb throwing motions, all look the same as current gen. The graphics definitely did not wow me.

Overall seems they are at least making pushes for some type of realism. Now i want to see if it translates into the way players move. No more fast twitch unrealistic cuts PLEASE. I want to see player weight and momentum actually matter now.

At this point still a no buy for me on NG but definitely looks better than what i expected...
