There might be a few details that are hard to see in video form, here are 52 screenshots from the video to talk about.

And here's a quick breakdown of the features mentioned in the video:

Recruiting
  • Recruiting only done with points now, no more finding pitches
  • Bonus points are allocated per recruit when your strengths match his interests
  • Signing Day has been introduced for official commitments
Coaching Skills
  • RPG element to Coaching (Coach XP, levels and skills)
  • XP gained for on field performance, meeting milestones and even for recruiting
  • Structure of Coach Skills seem similar to NFL Head Coach 09 skill tree
  • Skills broken down into 3 categories (Recruiting, Offensive and Defensive)
  • HC controls how all skills are assigned (Can assign the skills for your OC and DC too)
  • Coordinators are only responsible for their own skills

If this is the "major stuff" they're releasing about Dynasty, there are going to be a ton of unhappy people. We already have one thread going about the "ALL NEW" dynasty promo being a joke, just imagine the backlash if this is all the major stuff they did to it.

I think they are going in the right direction, but I just don't think they went far enough this round.

The new recruiting system seems like a modified version of last gen, and I like the idea of coach skills but will it impact player development? etc?

Not including the ability to hire/fire coordinators is inexcusable IMO. If coordinators are still just a crapshoot what is the point? Hiring/firing adds an element of strategy, without that it's just random. It's one of those big little things that show they are still missing the point.

Disappointed that 85 man rosters didn't get in. Hardware will not be an excuse next gen, so we'll see if they can come through next year.

Overall, I'm a little disappointed. I still feel like the NCAA Football franchise has barely scratched the surface of the depth and immersion that a college football dynasty mode could be.

The guy already said that these were the two big features. These people on here talking about some major reveal are bogus and only going to lead to people getting their hopes up and then dashed when nothing comes from it.

Some people need to think about what they are posting before then hit submit.

Say anything you want, but do it in a constructive manner. This thread will not become a nonconstructive bash and troll fest.

This isn't directed at anyone, just a global warning.

I think they're beyond expecting people to get excited enough about the game to buy it; if people want to play a college football game, who else are they going to turn to other than EA and NCAA 14? They want the game to function as best it can on a simulation level to those who do buy it.

What about presentation elements? All of this is a lose-lose situation for the team. Different people care about different parts of the game and if that specific part isn't up to their standards, it's garbage and the complaints start rolling in. Multiply this phenomena by, I don't know, 50,000+. Pretty hard to stay on top of everything. So they try to focus on what the main problems were, which last year, was the fact that recruiting was tedious--so they fixed that by going on a point system. Another problem was--and it is very well documented here--the fact that it seemed like coaches didn't mean anything, and that was fixed by this skill tree, etc...

But alas, here we are again, and those whose complaints didn't get addressed are back complaining that EA doesn't care.

Guys, they do care. They're just tasked with an impossible to please everyone situation.

Otherwise old coaches would never be fired in favor of a young guy who has never been a HC before, its just an absolutely absurd concept to me, and if I had the game I would at least want the ability to turn that feature off.

Having said that, I'm just really disappointed that they have the audacity to put 'ALL NEW DYNASTY' on the box, and then this is really the only new feature. The recruiting is the same as it ever was, just every call is a quick call now, that's false advertising.
When you see a car advertisement on TV around the time the "New models," come out, they usually show a car racing through a street (professional driver on closed course do not attempt,) while the voiceover says, "Introducing the all New Datson Mudspitter," then the voiceover professional goes through a list of all the new bells and whistles which make it "All New."

When you see and hear that do you stand up and throw your drink at the TV and scream, "It's NOT ALL NEW! What are those? Black tires! Right there's an axel! There's no jet engine or wings for a flying car! All new? I don't think so!"

Think about what a "Dynasty" is in NCAA before you say it was false advertising. Essentially a Dynasty is:

-Playing games
-Recruiting
-Progressing as a Coach/or Coordinator

Everything on that list has changed:

-Playing games: new engine, so gameplay is going to be different.

-Recruiting: Totally new way of doing it, as well as added drama with the 2 weeks after the season is over. The only thing similar to last year is Dynamic Pitches, and the fact you are signing high school football players. I'm sure there are more that will come to the surface as time goes by and information is disclosed, but essentially "how recruiting works," is totally different and NEW.

-Progressing as a Coach/or Coordinator:Just based on the fact there are abilities that you use points for to progress your coach makes it completely different.

You can start off as a OC or DC at a small school, build your ratings, and progress. Whereas before, the only thing you did was win games or lose games and your "prestige" would change.

I'm not saying that EVERY detail of Dynasty is brand spanking new. But when you get down to the "main," ingredients of what a Dynasty is, it's completely different and new; much like all of the 2014 non flying car and truck models.

I liked what I heard and read but I want to hear things about the presentation aspects of dynasty

I like the coaching skills also

I struggle with the fact, that this game still only hosts 12 users per Online Dynasty when "Super Conferences" are forming up everywhere, yet NCAA can't give us more than 12 users, meanwhile Madden can host 32 users. It was cool 5 years ago to have 12, but now?

# 171 jpdavis82 @ 05/28/13 08:33 PM
Where is the official Dynasty Playbook with blogs and stuff? It still says "Come back May 28th..."

+1

I totally agree. It makes no sense. This should be an easy fix.

They don't seem to be pleasing anyone. The Presentation people still didn't get the broadcast camera they've been asking for, they got something else. The uniform people are still waiting on facemasks/cleats/dreads/uniforms that are either old or incorrect, instead they gave us new gloves. The dynasty people wanted something to get them excited about and instead got recruiting repackaged.

No one says it's an easy job and no one is saying they will ever be able to please everyone but I'm so sick of people making excuses for them when many other games out there can get it done.

Are you honestly satisfied with where we are with this game as we near the end of the current set of systems?
I'll admit that it was a bit of a reach on my part; I was trying to quell some of the heat that the dev team has been receiving. We as gamers are very quick to overreact when we don't get what we want. We're an impatient bunch, and I'll say that these announcements, while needed, weren't exactly what I was looking for.

But I don't know the process of deciding what worked and what didn't work. I don't know where they get their feedback from and then how they respond to that feedback to creating new features/improving upon features already in the game.

So, EA's not going to release a playbook telling us EVERYTHING that's going to be in Dynasty Mode this .... The only mode I really play .... I NEED MORE DETAILS

All true. However, a Dynasty also involves developing players, evaluating and fine-tuning their skills through practice, managing an accurately numbered roster. It could also mean joining your top player at his Heisman ceremony, watching a selection show to see who your team will be playing during bowl season, using a Spring Game to determine starters and get a live game feel for early enrollees.

Others have come up with more detailed, varied wishlists. Deeper customization in terms of scheduling, inserting TB teams, Custom Conference expansion, on and on. I just really scratched the surface. What you laid out is indeed the core of what goes into a dynasty. Those things should always be tweaked and made to be as close to fluid as possible. I think many just had hopes that the core would be expanded upon and enhanced to make for a deeper, more immersive dynasty experience.

I am actually really looking forward to the new dynasty as long as it is implemented correctly. I really like the idea of the coach points and the simpler recruiting. I know I am in the minority, but call me impressed.

I'm sure you meant "in the minority", as most will be complaining for the next few months about today's reveal. I'm with you though, as I personally look at every release for what is actually in that particular game and how much I think that I will enjoy those things. I don't think about EA's legacy or marketing speak, or any other anger inducing chestnut

I still find it funny that they haven't released an official blog on Dynasty. That to me seems to say that this isn't the only information we will receive on Dynasty. Either way, I find the recruiting improvements to be a very nice welcome.
