There might be a few details that are hard to see in video form, here are 52 screenshots from the video to talk about.

And here's a quick breakdown of the features mentioned in the video:

Recruiting
  • Recruiting only done with points now, no more finding pitches
  • Bonus points are allocated per recruit when your strengths match his interests
  • Signing Day has been introduced for official commitments
Coaching Skills
  • RPG element to Coaching (Coach XP, levels and skills)
  • XP gained for on field performance, meeting milestones and even for recruiting
  • Structure of Coach Skills seem similar to NFL Head Coach 09 skill tree
  • Skills broken down into 3 categories (Recruiting, Offensive and Defensive)
  • HC controls how all skills are assigned (Can assign the skills for your OC and DC too)
  • Coordinators are only responsible for their own skills

You can't hire and fire this year. When a coordinator leaves (perhaps to become a HC somewhere else,) you will be given a new coordinator with a certain lvl. It could be a lvl 10, or you might hit the jackpot and get a former HC that's a lvl 25. Your HC skill level dictates what kind of coordinator you'll get. You can reallocate his coach skills however you wish.

Yes. The team tweaked a bunch of the logic so that teams would select more logical candidates for jobs, and sign them to more realistic contract lengths -- eliminating the 1-year contracts of the past.

Teams all have expectations based on the past. The team has also implemented season records for past seasons (not precisely sure how far back that goes, but I believe it's 30 years.)

Long story, short -- Contract length and goals are smarter this season and based on historical data. Hope that helps.

That's disappointing. Hiring coordinators would bring a whole new strategic element to the game... especially to online dynasties. Two user teams duking it out over a hot, up and coming OC just seems appealing to me.

Overall, though I like the upgrades. Can't wait to hear more.

AJ,

Were there any changes made to progression or the recruit generator?

That is very disappointing news. Really takes away from the product, IMO. With the coaching skills being added this would seemingly be a perfect time to add this feature.

To me, it seems pretty obvious that you should be able to hire and fire coordinators.

Is the cap for players in a OD still 12??

# 32 threattonature @ 05/28/13 11:41 AM
Will teams hire coaches based on the "fit". Basically if they run an option offense will they lean more towards coaches who also run option style for new openings?

Will coaching profiles play a part in recruiting?

Will team's playbooks change when they hire a coach that runs a different style offense or defense?

This is awesome.. this is the same recruiting as was on last gen on the PS2. You get points to spend every week and you pick how many points to assign to each recruit. Its simple, fast, and easy to use. Im hoping theres no points cap per recruit (there wasn't on last gen) so like if you are a low prestige school you could put all your eggs in 1 basket to try and land that top recruit HB or QB to turn your program around while sacrificing depth.

Im surprised EA Sports chose to go back to this way of recruiting and im really excited about it but also confused as to why they didn't make this a separate OPTION for people. I for one hated the time consuming, pitch finding/hard selling every week but I know there are others who loved it. Its going to be a tough transition for them.

AJ, can the skills of an existing coach be edited before you enter dynasty?

# 35 muleyman @ 05/28/13 11:42 AM
I have to ask two things, have there been any improvements to importing created teams to Dynasty and when can we here about any Teambuilder upgrades or being showcased?

Was hoping to hear of improvements and features for the offseason as well. This leaves me asking "is that it?" I hope Road To Glory got some improvements because this doesnt seem like much.

I hear ya man. Thanks for the feedback. I think it's a good idea for the future. I'm sure they've thought of it (just can't get to everything in one year,) but I'll pass it along to the dev team anyway.

AJ , do ya know anything about possible 85 man rosters? or a redone player progression system? Thanks!

Yes. You can also set the number of Coach Skill points a user coach will start with at the beginning of a Dynasty.

will we still be able to pay extra for recruiting 'time savers' and stuff like that? I remember one that increased player progression and another that effected pitches and pipeline states
