MLB 13 The Show News Post

One of the most anticipated features in MLB 13: The Show this season is The Show Live feature, which allows you to play any game of the MLB 2013 season with the correct rosters, pitching matchups, and conditions. Promised was situational accurate commentary, and other presentational touches to give you the feel that you are playing the exact game that is played in real life.

The initial returns of The Show Live's first full day on the job seems to be somewhat positive. However, there are several roster gaffes being reported, as well as other odds and ends including live scores not updating fast within the mode.

There are surely bugs that will continue to be worked out -- we will have our full review of this mode coming up later this week after we get some more time with it.

How is your first day with The Show Live going?

I know those two are still free agents. Why were they on the Rangers?
FA's get assigned to teams to take the spot of rookies. It'll take a few weeks before most of those players are added to SCEA's roster. I'd rather see generic players with comparable ratings, but SCEA made this choice, so we have to roll with it.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. I was just really confused at first and I had to look up and see if the Rangers had actually signed K-Rod, lol.

I'm really enjoying this mode WAY more than I thought and have played a bunch of games using it. Yes, it's a bit rough still as has been mentioned with room for improvement, but overall it's a lot of fun. I'm playing using more teams and using/facing different pitchers than I normally would, so SCEA gets a thumbs-up from me for adding this! ( that's also an homage to Ebert)

One wish, although I don't suppose there's any practical way to do this, but it would be nice if they could code fatigue into the players based upon how much they've been playing, especially to a reliever that is "not available" on a given day because he pitched the last two days or his pitch count, etc.

will SCEA create players that come in? Guys like Jackie Bradley Jr?

The fatigue is a great idea. Like you said, would be really cool with trying to manage a bullpen that was really taxed the day before.

Yes, once they have played an official MLB game, SCEA can add them to the roster. I'd imagine on Monday we will see a number of rookies from this week.

Yeah, I got a server error message, but then the game started as normal with team selection. HOWEVER, the game was being played at Oriole Park?? So obviously having some issues.

Yeah, that is the exact same thing that happens on my end.

Well, all these aces gave up this many Earned Runs today:
Cain 9
Price 8
Hamels 8
Dickey 7
Strasburg 6

So maybe this blew the servers up! I was thinking how much some people would complain if this happened in their franchise sims, because that would never happen IRL

Ha, that is a good one. The server issue with Rockies games has been going on for several days, though.

Why are the rosters still all messed up for the Show live even though players are included in update today?

Hmmph, I was kinda hoping that the Show Live would have accurate weather, as (and I know this is pretty minor) the always-cold temperatures in franchise mode, at least at the beginning of the season, really bug me.

I'm playing as the Pirates at the D-Backs, and in the Show it's 52 degrees. Every player is wearing long sleeves.

In real life, it's 79 degrees in Phoenix right now.

This is something that would be a GREAT addition to the mode.
(and keeping track so that if you went back....it would be correct)

I should add that, while I've been critical of a few ways the mode has been executed, overall I'm very happy that something like this is in the game. It's a much better "pick up and play" mode, and given that I probably don't have the time for franchise anymore (the real world, it kinda sucks), I'm very thankful to have something like this.

It's pretty good for a new introduction.
A few hiccups and some things I wish were done differently(ie...the missing new players)...but the one thing that is great is....SCEA will certainly take our suggestions and consider them for implementing into future versions.
(hopefully they take the weather one for serious consideration!)

Do you know if they will backtrack players such as Gattis that started Sunday too into lineups? Like I said today (Monday) he is correctly there but not Sunday

I'm playing the Mets vs Phillies game for today. After the Mets (cpu) finished batting, it subbed Ike Davis at 1st and took the starter, Justin Turner out. Has anyone else had this happen in other games? I'm thinking because Turner isn't a normal 1B, the cpu got him out 1st chance.

Just finished the Yankees (CPU) @ Cleveland (Me) game. I was down 6-3 in the 8th and the CPU brought in Mariano. I thought for a 2 inning save, but in the bottom of the 9th I was still down by 3 and the CPU brought in Ivan Nova to close it. NOT very realistic.
