-I like the new "swing creator" in edit a player. It allows you to assign a more customized swing, with stride type, etc. Pretty cool.

-They still haven't fixed the way you sub guys in. If you pinch hit for your catcher with a non-catcher, it will still show the pinch hitter in the field next inning, rather than letting you sub in a catcher beforehand.

-The pull hitting attribute is pretty cool, and definitely gives hitters a different feel. Thing is, you can only see this in game, so editing players will be kind of a pain. I've always added a few old time players to the game in past years, and there's going to be a few more steps now to an already lengthy process.

-Hitting in general feels a little smoother and more realistic, just the way the ball comes off the bat and how it flies through the air. Nicely done.

-Classic stadiums can now be played in offline! Very cool.

-I'm digging some of the new throwback uniforms. Still wish they had more, though I guess they have their hands tied by MLB on this. (hint to devs: give us the uniform creator from Diamond Dynasty for use with MLB teams, then add a uniform vault! )

That's about all I can think of. Haven't gotten into franchise much yet.
More impressions here:

-They clearly have done quite a bit of refinement to the game, so while early on the game felt familiar, I now see they tightened things up for the better. Besides the hitting I mentioned earlier, the base running is a bit more realistic, and you won't see any of those high chops fouls anymore. Like I say, things have just been ironed out.

-The "meatball" bug is alive and well. Takes a lot away from the game.

-Franchise mode is a lot more focused, and much more interesting. There's still a lot that can be done with this mode, but the changes are welcome. Scouting is engaging so far, and training is more clear and concise. Both of these things make it feel like you're more in control of the direction of your franchise.

-The new hitting camera for Road to the Show is nice.

-Wish they had the real time camera from a few years ago back in the game.

-The post game cut scenes are kind of cool, but are already becoming redundant.

Not much else you can say, simply because not much else is new or worth noting.

You guys are honestly out of your mind if you think Franchise mode is good haha. That is usually all I play every year. It is so awful this year. I want to return the game. The game play is great (better than last year)..... if you play Exhibition every time. The stuttering skip on the main menu drives me insane. For those who said you wouldn't go back to 12? Your crazy. That was the best one by far.

You actually said nothing that would help someone on the fence decide if they should or shouldn't buy the game.

Could you please compare what parts of franchise mode were better last year? Maybe some specific examples would help others.

I'm curious to what you think is so bad about the franchise mode? Is it perfect? No, but a marked improvement. I'm sure that it will be refined more as well in a patch to address any issues it has.

Yes. Exactly!

The question that all of us who haven't played franchise mode or don't have the game yet, is:

What specifically is wrong with franchise mode compared to last year?

for me personally I LOVE IT!. Feels much more immersive, the scouting is better, I like the way the budget for the next year is determined by play on the field. It's a great experience thus far

You personally might not like the changes...

But I think the new changes to franchise mode make things much more interesting.
-menu stuttering aside...(yeah..that's pretty bad)
But I will say I would like to see some things tweaked as well....but all in all....it's going to take much more thought to work your team in franchise mode now.
Some tweaks that could be made....
-K totals in sim games
-BB's in sim games
-I wish teams spent more money on FA's(but only in later years)
-The draft logic could be improved(amateur draft)
-There could be more "surprises" in scouting and progression/regression.

But nothing that is worse than last year unless you really don't like to maneuver to keep your team competitive.

Nothing feels better in this game than turning on a pitcher trying to sneak an inside fastball. Chris Davis has become EXTREMELY well versed on this in my game.

yeah. nothing better then making loud contact and seeing the camera zoom out into the HR camera. Did this w/ Duda vs SF last night in the 9th inning tied 1-1. 2 Run HR into the cove

I agree 100% I just noticed too that there needs to be more higher rated A and B rp in the draft. 4-5 years in there isn't many decent relief pitchers and the cpu carries between 6-10 SP on the ML roster.

Franchise mode is horrendous now.. Cyber pics are gay, strikeout totals are a joke(do the devs even watch/pay attention to baseball?) and the player profession is laughable, 20 point drop after spring training lmao what? Franchise mode is a joke now. You're crazy if you actually think it's good. It doesn't represent anything close to an actual simulation of a MLB season. Guys like Patrick Corbin are leading the league in era..etc and Verlander has a 5 era..FIVE In July. Rip franchise mode I guess atleast the gameplay is good?

How eloquent.

IMHO, franchise took a major step back. The gameplay, graphics, cut scenes, etc. are all top notch as always. However, I will not be able to play this year due to the fact that they scrapped all of franchise mode. I understand that attendance is tied to performance, but this just will not cut it for me this year. In the past, even if you are in first place and are performing well, fans will not show up if you jack the prices all the way up. It was nice to try to juggle a winning club while keeping prices competitive. Just my 2 cents.

Purely personal preference, but I hated all that crap. I am glad it's gone. It's not like a GM is sitting around setting beer and hot dog prices.

This will be a bit of a rant, but..

Robinson Cano's batting stance? Really?

...I haven't seen a batting stance this messed up in YEARS. He's a top-5 hitter in the entire league, and they ruined his very good stance from the previous years and gave him some default stance that isn't even CLOSE to his?!

Usually I don't make a big deal out of stances, but this completely ruins the realism of one of the best players in the MLB for me. I can't even use him in this game anymore. There isn't a single stance in the game that is like his old one either (I've tried Salty, but it's not all that close).

Absolutely horrible. I can't even begin to think what was going through whoever's mind when they decided to delete his old stance and put in that trainwreck. Ugh.

Aside from that, the only other thing I dislike are the franchise cyber pics. Please let us choose whether to use them or not. I usually trade for prospects that have real pics to add to the realism, and now that's completely ruined.

Yes his stance sucks, its been pointed out a lot, even well before release.

We have to live with it and find a better solution, if you have any go post them in the stance thread in the roster section.

It's kind of strange, because in this thread showing this CES video, Russell said that the stance had been altered. I don't know if that meant it was altered from last year, or it had been altered since the video. Doesn't look like the latter is the case though.

I liked Cano's stance in last year's game, in that I liked the stance itself. I just thought it was a cool stance (also thought it was closer to his stance this year than last year).

Some stances are tough to replicate, in a way. Those with that "calmness" in their stance also have some other random movements as well, or their strides will be a bit different. That's why A. Gonzalez never really looks right to me either. I don't really think Posey was perfectly captured this year either, though I see what they were going with (if Posey captured himself, it still isn't quite accurate to what he does in real life if that makes sense).

I understand how the "calm" stances are hard, for instance Josh Hamilton... but when they already had a pretty good Cano stance, why blow it up with a nuke?

Whenever he's up it feels like there's some generic AA player at the plate now. Disappointing to say the least.

LOL, of course not. But, it is a part of the game and the show did that well. I know alot of users would have $1 beer nights or what not to push the product or entice fans to come. Nonetheless, prices and concessions were a huge part of the game and the GM is responsible to ensure that it is profitable.
