NBA 2K13 News Post


The NBA 2K13 patch has arrived for PS3 and 360. The details on the patch haven't been released yet, but we'll update this post as soon as they are available.

UPDATE: NBA 2K13 Patch Details

GAMEPLAY
  • Improved AI rebounding logic to balance out offensive rebound frequency.
  • Tuned AI transition defense; users will now have more fast break opportunities against the CPU. Additionally, CPU teammates are now more able to guard their opponents on the break.
  • Long range passes are now less accurate and will result in more fumbled and missed catches.
  • Passing successfully out of a double team has been tuned to be slightly more difficult.
  • Tuned the logic behind Charging calls so that they are properly called. Charges will now sometimes be called when the defender is in position and stationary, even if he is not in the “Take Charge” animation.
  • Tuned timing on block animations, and made the AI more vigilant about blocking layups and dunks.
  • Improved reach-in foul detection when defender continually swipes at the ball, results in more called fouls where appropriate.
  • AI now only calls for a full court press in appropriate situations (i.e. late in the game).
  • Addressed two dunk animations that were not counting for a score when they were converted.
  • Fixed an issue where Replay would show the incorrect play, rather than what actually happened on the court.
  • AI positioning when running plays has been tuned so that big men with limited shooting range will not move further away from the basket than what their range allows.
  • AI teammates will now remain in the Post Up position longer when a Quick Post play is called for them.
  • Tuned alley-oop and putback dunks such that only players who have a high tendency to perform either move are able to finish with one.
  • Removed the restrictions for the ‘Microwave’ Signature Skill such that it now works regardless of whether you are already on a hot or cold streak.
  • When a block is recorded for a player with the ‘Eraser’ Signature Skill, only the shooting attributes of the blocked player are lowered.
  • Fixed a rare issue where a traveling violation would be called on a pass fake.
  • Referee Review on last shot will no longer play if the shot has no effect on the outcome of the game.
  • A number of other smaller changes have been made to address issues and enhance the user experience.
  • Tuned three-point percentage.
GENERAL
  • NIKEiD shoes will now appear properly in-game after being equipped to a player.
  • Addressed an issue where the game score would disappear in Blacktop games when Signature Highlights were viewed in the pause menu.
  • Fixed an issue where Free Throw Feedback would no longer appear in games after playing an Online MyTEAM game.
  • Addressed an issue in Online MyTEAM games where the away team player would have the Signature Skills of the home team player if identical players were used in the game by both players.
  • Music will no longer be disabled and Game Settings will no longer revert back to Default when completing an online game in MyTEAM.
  • Changed the difficulty settings for all of the seeds in MyTEAM.
  • (360) Addressed a Kinect issue where a misleading overlay would appear when a timeout was called through a voice command when no timeouts were remaining.
MyCAREER
  • Added additional warning re: conversion of an online MyCAREER (one that earns VC) to an offline MyCAREER (one that earns Skill Points).
  • Fixed an issue where the remainder of the user’s schedule would appear empty after participating in the various All-Star Weekend events. This change also carries over to Association/Season modes.
  • ‘Run Plays’ and ‘PlayVision’ should now function properly (when activated), regardless of your MyPLAYER’s position.
  • Fixed an issue where all games in October would be simulated when ‘Play Next Game’ is selected after the start of a new season.
  • Users playing MyCAREERs that accrue Skill Points will no longer find themselves with negative skill points after played games (where a number of unlikely conditions were all met).
  • Addressed a rare hang that would occur if the “Defend Your Home Court” billboard commercial would play between quarters of the Rising Stars Challenge or All-Star game.
  • Addressed a number of issues with the Social Media feature, including one where the news feed would stop updating completely.
  • When changing teams via free agency in the offseason, your MyPLAYER will now receive the proper role (starter, sixth man, etc.) that was promised during the contract negotiation.
  • You will no longer fail the Dynamic Goal “Give your team the lead before the game ends” when subbed out before the end of the game.
  • The Teammate Chemistry rating on the “Play Next Game” loading screen should now display the correct value (as seen in the Social Media menu).
  • The volume of the menu music and sound effects will no longer become extremely quiet after playing consecutive games in MyCAREER.
ASSOCIATION
  • 3PT Tendency progression logic has been rewritten to correctly model the growth variances within each player type in the game. This change also carries over to MyCAREER mode.
  • Users will no longer lose their Scouting Reports after viewing the Recent Games tab of a player card.
  • Birth years can now be set to later than 1993 when editing Draft Classes after the first season of Association.
  • Addressed a rare hang that would occur when attempting to participate in the Dunk Contest with a created player assigned to a created team.
  • (Association: Online) Offense and Defense options should now save properly when using the Total Sim Control feature.
  • (Association: Online) Admins will now have access to appropriate Commissioner Tools during the offseason.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (MyCAREER, Association, etc.).

Quick question on the part where it says Nike id shoes fixed does that mean we dont have to delete the ones already created? And does this mean that the shoes we edited will be fixed (not the ones created by nike id) will the materials actually show instead of jus5 looking canvas when you select plastic for example. Thanks in advance

I was just going to post about the big men 3 point tendencies in association mode seems to be fixed. Just read the patch notes.

The replay showed the correct play...but instead of showing the vertical overlay of Tyson's dunk, they showed the vertical of of JR Smiths jumpshot lol
This has been in 2k for years, a putback dunk/tip always registers as the original shooters. For ex; if you go into the gametrack it will say something like "jumpshot" for a putback and give it credit to the original shooter.

Playing MyCareer 12 Min Qtrs. Just picked up my 2nd foul in the 1st with 4 min left and I'm still in the game. Wondering if this is a glitch/bug with having the Gatorade Prime Pack Sig Skill equipped?

THANK GOD for this "Long range passes are now less accurate and will result in more fumbled and missed catches." People would put it in a zone and then leak out with the guard at the top ALL GAME.. Even if you make a conscious effort to get back, it's like the pass would lead the offensive player towards their goal crazy well.

I would love to know why 2K/the developers made it this way. I think if you guys explained a lot more people would be more lenient and forgiving.

What do you mean? Are you being defaulted to a generic name and generic look despite changing it?

So the inability to call individual plays in coach mode something that can't be fixed in a patch or is this request just being totally ignored?

Works good so far starting to see that the players actually go for rebounds instead of just standing there looking confused. But the biggest problem I've seen that didnt say on the forum is patching missed dunks that u can see are made dunks I have probably 6 dunks during 4 seasons of my player career that was counted as a missed shot not a huge stat problem but its still annoying to see them counted as missed shots, and one more is when either team during my player mode is doing an inbound pass the whole game will glitch out and the player throwing the ball in wont pass it no matter how open a player is and the refs will not call a 5 sec foul luckily if it my team I can call a time out and it fixes it but if its the other team I have to save and quit, once again not a huge problem just an annoying one, please fix, OH AND ADD REGGIE MILLER!!!!!

LD2k, any insight/information on if the "Euro-Three Glitch" will ever be fixed?

also Please add Will Barton back into Portland rotation in favor of Nolan Smith. Thanks.

Thanks for the patch...but have seen the glitch a few times that other posters have alluded to when the ball isn't inbounded by the cpu and no calls are made....this has happened a few times in cpu v cpu association games and the clock keeps ticking, no 5 sec calls at all.

I have to interrupt the game, switch sides and call a time out..once you return to the game it works.

But this has just happened with the introduction of 1.02.

Ummm yea so claiming that NIKEiD is fixed huh.... Mines been broken since release (PS3) & now its completely grayed out. Can't even access or let alone click on it to open it now. Great fix 2k (oh am I pissed, YES!!!) seeing as that I'm the type of person who keeps all players in the game up-to-date with there real shoes & accessories. Speaking of that, you should still make that adidas legs sleeve available to more than just your MyPlayer & I still think there should b a color option for white/black home/away with accessories. But let me stop because once again as one of your customers I'm asking for too much out of you guys..... smh!!!

Do we have to create the nikeid shoes again? Because on PS3 I'm still seeing LeBron VII's instead of the ones I'm trying to put on and in the game it's just a generic shoe

I'm hoping these two updates will make the CPU big men post players more involved in the game and get feed the ball more downlow.

I'm sure he means being stuck with the same name and look for every MyCareer he starts.

For instance, let's say his real name was Matt Parker. So he makes his MyPlayer to look somewhat like him, and gives him that name, and makes him a bald black man.

Now, he makes a MyCareer file, and makes the player a 6'6" SG--named Matt Parker, a bald black man.

He has fun, but one day down the line, he decides to try something different. He wants to be a center this time, with a different name and skin tone to distinguish him from the SG.

So he makes a second MyCareer file, and...his name is just plain stuck as Matt Parker, and his look is stuck as a bald black man. He can't change it at the creation screen. He can change position, accessories, play style, height, and everything else about them...but not the name and race.

I get that you want to stop hackers and cheaters--that's totally fine. But sometimes we like to play out what-if scenarios with our MyPlayers, you know? It's a huge hassle when we have to always go back to the MyPlayer edit screen and change his name and look for whenever we want to play a file--especially since we can't change our MyCareer Social Media handle in-game. It's stuck as whatever we chose for it at the start of our rookie year.

Like, we know you couldn't retain the rights to, say, Julius Erving--that's sad, but fine, it's a business and some sacrifices need to be made, some player likenesses chosen over others. But that shouldn't stop us consumers from doing the next-best thing through MyCareer, looking to see if that legend could still dominate basketball today...

Oh wow I had to completely restart my whole system for NIKEiD to open back up... well hell that's 1 thing off my list huh

Can anyone tell me if the vertical replays should still be showing despite me having replays set to never?

I never noticed the wrong replay glitch, probably because I'm only thinking about Xing through the replay.
