MLB 13 The Show News Post

I think because it come out early in the year, MLB: The Show is often overlooked and/or underrated come “game of the year” voting time. The rapid fire releases of Madden, NHL, FIFA, and NBA games, not to mention this year’s late slate of racing titles, can overshadow a game that typically drops in the first quarter.

However, I think MLB: The Show is, and has been, the best virtual representation of a sport on the market today. Its quality and improvements aren’t necessarily flashy, but, like baseball itself, the game is full of nuances and details that make it a deep and strategic experience.

That said, it has never been perfect either. Gameplay issues, like too many comebackers to the pitcher, can mar the proceedings. The modes are deep, but not always accessible or exciting. Online has certainly been a mixed bag.

Assuming we all want these well-known quirks to be fixed, here are my top five wishes for MLB: The Show...either next year or next generation.

It must be an approach thing then because the only time I get the "black hole" effect is when most of the circle is in the strike zone and I mis-time the pulse. I play on Legend with consistency (the slider that controls the speed of the pulse) at 2 and the only time I miss in the middle of the zone is when I'm being careless. I get the feeling that people are too afraid to aim way out of the zone, because when I'm trying to clip the corner I usually aim in the other batter's box and I either miss out of the zone or paint the corner...

1. 2 variations of knuckleball, hard and soft. R.A Dickey is totally off in the show because you can't make the hard knuckleball.

2. More fielding control in general. Less pre-set animations that take control

3. Better 3d support. I see ghosts when I play

4. Manager arguments, ejections etc.. (is this in? It never happens for me.)

5. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE improve the trade system. It makes no sense. I would like you to be able to offer a player and have the computer offer potentials back. It should be more of a two way street. Counter offers etc..

Allow us to play any position as a lefty in RTTS.

1. Add Tiger Stadium to classic stadium
2. Get rid of the ugly sweat lines on the hats. Why the hell would a manager be sweating through his hat?
3. Classic batting stances. I want to be able to use guys like Mantle, Griffey, and Ruth.
4. Better fielding control
5. NEW COMMENTATORS

A nice way to boost up presentation would be giving us a first person view of the player walking up to the plate sometimes. If it was a big situation, you have your big hitter coming up, it would be cool to see it that way.

And I always hope they put Tiger Stadium in the game. I would play all my home games there. Even if they put it in current form, with just a field and then dirt and a chain link fence, I would love it! haha.

Ruth is 184 and Griffey is 94.

I guess we don't have Mantle. I thought he would still be on the list from the days when he was on the Golden Era team.

2K's commentators are above and beyond better than The Show's. I like Matty V but Karros and Dave Campbell are god awful.

1. Just send a $250,000.00 check to SCEA for the licensing....DONE!
2. I guess you've never managed an MLB team
3. A lot are in. There is a list in the roster section. Search for stances.
4. Do you mean more control?.....it might be a little more, but the dev team wants this an animation driven game in that regards. This is one that I think you guys are just going to have to learn to live with...
5. Answered....but as far as above and beyond....it gets just as repetitive in 2K....just about any sports game is going to suffer from it.

Send me a picture of a manager in the bigs right now with sweat seeping through his hat and you win. Until then, it needs to be changed. I can understand the players, but not the manager or coaches.

You sweat when you think and when theres pressure, and when its hot as balls in the south in summer time. I see pool players sweat all the time and they arent exactly running 90 feet in the heat.

Send me pictures of mangers with pools of sweat showing through their caps and you guys win. Until then, I think it needs to be changed.

Not seeing any big pools of sweat on their hats. And they all coach in warm cities.

Its in the game and YOU are the one asking for change, you make the case with pictures that it never happens and convince them to change, I think its not worth looking into but you do so go at it

I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But when it's 40 degrees come playoff time and you look in the dugout and the managers are wearing coats yet they have a bunch of sweat seeping through their hats it looks dumb.
