Madden NFL 13 News Post


It looks like Madden NFL 13 title update #3, which was scheduled to arrive tomorrow, is 1 day early and available now for 360 users, weighing in at 19MB.

Feature Additions:

Custom Rosters Offline: Added the ability to start an offline career with a custom roster.

Connected Careers Edit Player: Added the ability to edit gear and information for players in a league.

Coach Mode in Connected Careers: Added the ability to use coach mode in Connected Careers.

Changing Schemes in Connected Careers: Added the ability to change offensive and defensive schemes as a coach.

Offline Play Along in Connected Careers: Added the ability for multiple people to join a CCM game. This applies to coaches only.

Draft Clock: Added a draft clock during the draft that is displayed on screen if you leave the draft interface to view rosters, depth charts, etc.

Draft Filter: Added a filter to the draft screen to display players that have been drafted.

Connected Careers Practice XP: Added the ability for user controlled players to earn extra XP in practice mode through the stats they accumulate.
Gameplay Tuning:
  • Fixed an issue where WRs were dropping too many passes when playing on All Madden difficulty setting.
  • Fixed an issue where it was too easy to time the kick meter on FGs and PATs in user vs. user games.
  • Fixed an issue where punt returners were moving away from the landing spot if you called a fair catch while letting the CPU control the player.
  • Fixed an issue where someone who attempted to bull rush with the R stick once the ball was snapped activated run commit.
Commentary:
  • Added over a dozen logic fixes to make our commentary more intelligent.
Presentation:
  • Fixed an issue where specific offensive player celebrations were not triggering.
  • Fixed an issue where the referee was backwards when calling a penalty.
  • Fixed an issue with the Giants away uniforms (missing a sleeve stripe).
Connected Careers:
  • Fixed an issue where Offline Gameplay AI/Logic did not match the logic in Play Now.
  • Fixed an issue where playing the game on All-Madden is too easy.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the camera setting in CCM game works for single player.
  • Fixed an issue where League Sliders had limited impact on difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue where the Accelerated Clock did not function in an online CCM game when the option was set to On.
  • Fixed an issue where you could not turn on/off GameFlow in CCM.
  • Fixed an issue where you were unable to sign Free Agents during the season.
  • Fixed an issue where 'Starting a League' would reset Player Schemes.
  • Fixed an issue where after declining a trade offer, you are no longer able to accept or decline another offer.
  • Fixed an issue where you could exploit supersim to run the game clock indefinitely.
  • Fixed some spelling and polish issues in the News and Twitter.
  • Fixed an issue where a coach could make a contract offer to a user controlled player.
  • Fixed an issue where you are forced to select a throwing style for a created player that is not a QB.
  • Fixed an issue where turning Auto-Start to off does not save week to week.
  • Fixed an issue where you can see rookie overall ratings by accessing the player card of the prospect through Team Needs.
  • Fixed an issue where changing Auto-Sub Frequency does not change the correct data.
  • Fixed an issue where the profanity filter was preventing offline players from typing in their names.
  • Fixed an issue where you can draft a player and then trade down while the draft is paused. The issue resulted in the user keeping both the traded picks and drafted player.
Stability:
  • Fixed numerous crashes.
  • Fixed an issue with the in-game pause menu disappearing.
Madden Ultimate Team:
  • Changed the Packs button to Store Button.
  • Condensed Leaderboards and Help menus.
  • Implemented the ability to view videos from the hub.
  • Implemented Store Panel Changes.
  • Moved Auctions/Trades to a separate menu option.
  • Fixed several Solo Challenge exploits
Playbooks:
  • Fixed an issue where theHail Mary formation in a custom playbook had a blank play that resulted in a broken formation and invisible players if selected.

Actually, I do. They should have stuck to their guns. They are the developers, they know their timeline and what they want with the feature.

They should know people are going to push for what they want. If it ain't ready yet, keep saying it. The answer they gave the first time was good - "It's not ready yet. It will be in when we feel it's ready for prime time."

Putting something out that's not ready, that's even worse judgement, even if it was to appease the community (since the bugs are going to do anything but appease).

I'm not a M13 defender - I'm probably considered one of those "complainers" someone else talked about, but that first answer was perfect and they should have stuck with it. Rushing it out didn't turn out well evidently.

In that game as I noted both Fitzpatrick and VY had over 20 scramble yards...RG3 -5 and that was actually on a called QB run

I know it isn't designed to be played non-human (yes I am non-human) but if they can just get the logic in there for the QB to scramble...I'd probably stay with Madden and finally frame my HC09 Disc after painting it platinum of course.

Well, that sucks about the auto-QB...of course, if the coach mode actually was you calling plays only...but anyway...

Saw your stats - based on them, they look reasonable - don't see your whole box score, but the game was close, score decent, so at the least, it's worth sticking with, including your penalty settings, especially if you liked the flow of the game and how the players interacted, which is most important, imo.

But you can call play only though...Go to My Madden and change Coach Mode to ON and Camera Angle to Broadcast. Then start you CCM and when you play it'll be straight Coach Mode. i've tried it and it works.

Seriously though, are you saying that when turning coach mode "on" AND selecting broadcast cam, that it becomes a TRUE coach mode, like in NCAA Football 13?

Please clarify what the difference is when using broadcast cam in coordination with coach mode "on" versus coach mode "on" alone.

Coach mode is on, and broadcast cam of course and blah blah blah we've been through this, nothing has changed. He's playing with you Big.

Edit* actually, i take that back, i don't think tarheel was intentionally playing with you, after reading the quote he's responding to, he probably was just trying to say you can call plays only ... anyway, coach mode needs to be struck from the vocabulary of everyone in Madden until their is a true coach mode lol

I've been using coach mode with broadcast cam in online CCM and I can confirm it definitely is auto pass and not the same as coach mode in NCAA 13.

That's the way I have it in both profile settings and ccm settings (well cam view in ccm settings)

Coach mode (offline CCM) + Broadcast Cam + Great sliders = LOTS OF FUN, almost to the point of it feeling too realistic.

what are your sliders? i've never been one to use sliders, but i've got all sliders at 45 and i haven't seen anything unusual yet (in a bad way)

also, if you're not controlling anyone, do the human sliders do anything? i'm assuming not, but i'm also thinking it still could affect the human team though....could go either way i guess.

Ok, maybe you guys can help me.

I am in the 3rd season of a CCM mode with myself as the QB.
(1)Are the updates for PS3 - because I do not remember being prompted for an update

(2)When I go to the personnel screen, I see that free agents and depth chart screens are available. However, I cannot sign a free agent or alter my depth charts. Was the update supposed to allow me to make these changes? Do I need to change a setting somewhere?

I have gotten used to CCM, but I hate not being able to make some personnel changes or at least be able to give some input (including the draft)

Yes sir I agree. Redbox has saved me much money on game buying. M13 I bought because it ended up being fun and addictive for me. Even now with the patch, gameplay is still good. One thing I do notice that was updated was the punt returns and kickoffs. The computer actually doesn't move away from the ball.

I also like that when playing offline, in coach ccm, I can use my created player in the coach career mode. I just imported my custom roster when prompt. That part of the patch as far as rosters, I appreciate. Only editing part I like is changing the numbers on certain players.

That pissed me off too. I wanted to switch my 3-4 D to 4-3. I'm using the Chargers so I wanted to move my DE's to DT's and my OLB's to DE's. Also I picked up Alex Mack and wanted to move my center to LG. It's not like this does not happen in the nfl look at the Colts Freeny and Mathis were DE's in a 4-3 now LB's in the 3-4. Look at the Steelers Legursky plays G and C when Pouncey is out. I went to buy the game when I herd we would be able to edit guys. Befor that I rented it found I couldnt play offlline franchise the way it was and sent it back.

As one of Madden 13's harshest critics, I can tell you that this patch made a vast improvement. I only played one game, and may see differently after a few more, but right now... just WOW!

The Depth Chart is still wacky with starters also as second string backups.

Same old coach mode with same results, such as Rodgers throwing ball over crossbar--and he was not trying for a field goal.

Man coverage still looks bad to me.

Freezing has occurred looking at Depth Chart--more than once.

Game sliders are not the same as in Play Now.

I can't return the game because it was purchased as a download. But, I am done playing/wasting my time with it.

From my experience, yes. Did a quick play now yesterday with the Lions (Me) vs. Packers (CPU) with 15 min quarters, normal speed. After the first quarter, the Packers ran 11 running plays and only 7 passes with them leading 3-0. I get the complete opposite result vs pass heavy teams in Online CCM.

Anyone know how to download the new patch? my system didn't do it automatically and now the game freezes every time during the loading screen before the game.

Game is better the one thing I do like is that the physics are more like the demo. No more pinball garbage like after the second patch. Could not stand all of the (this game is tightened up talk) Game plays better but is not at the lvl of fifa or 2k. Little things hold the game back.

Late game ai has been pretty good for me and pass heavy teams are playing well. Hope this game keeps my interest for a few months. With fifa and 2k don't know if it will. Sucks it took so long for the patch. Overall think they did a good job with it though and feel madden is on the road to recovery.
