NBA Live 13 Has Been Canned

NBA Live 13 has been canned, kicked to the curb, canceled, put out to pasture. However you want to put it, NBA Live 13 is no more.

Below is a statement from EA Sports Executive Vice President, Andrew Wilson.

	After a lot of consideration, we have made the decision to not launch NBA LIVE 13. I'd like to give you a bit of perspective. When we started the process of bringing back NBA LIVE, we knew it was going to be a long journey. We started by moving the game to a new studio. We brought in some of the best new technology that has helped fuel innovation in our other games. We launched an even deeper level of engagement with our community to gather more feedback directly from fans. And we built a whole new development team to bring it all to life. We felt like we were on the right path. We also made a commitment to deliver a high quality experience � this is what our fans expect and what we demand of ourselves at EA SPORTS. But making great games is not easy, and we're just not there yet on NBA LIVE 13. Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October. And rather than launch midway through the season, we're going to sit out the full year and stay focused on making next year�s game great. This decision puts us on the right track for success well into the future in a rapidly changing industry. I'm disappointed that we have not yet met our high expectations with NBA LIVE, but I remain motivated about where we're going. We're committed to delivering new innovation in online, and our progress in the visual presentation of the game continues to take big strides. We also know that a great game starts with great gameplay, and this remains a huge priority for us. This wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for our fans. Really wish I could say that this is surprising to me but it isn't. I saw this coming from a mile away and I said as much back in the Ad Council thread. Maybe this will push Sony to consider getting back in the game. Doubt it, but it'd be nice.

I honestly didn't think they would cancel. Even though, it played out the same before, but I figure it would be too damaging. Now, I expect the nba live serious to be cancelled until next gen. There's no hope this gen. Just cancel it until next gen. I'm sure they have the kits right? have at it.

I'm angry that Live won't be released this year because all the kids and less educated people will be on NBA 2K at least for another year. They'll get so mad that they suck, they be coming on these forums and complain about something ridiculous and my worst fear... 2K will listen to them.

I remember the question being asked as to why live 13 hadn't been shown yet at one of the big events(I think it was e3?) and the answer was something like , live 13 deserved it's own platform or forum. I knew at that moment that live 13 was in serious jeopardy.

Probably for the best, but I'll admit the kid in me wanted to see NBA Live make a comeback. NBA Live 95 was the first sports game that got me hooked.

2k12 was trash. They had no competition. Hoping that 2k doesn't go back to their 2k12-like gaming approach.

Live might as well make greg oden their cover guy because its not going to get better anytime soon. It had the chance to pull a Blake Griffin and come back strong the next year but unfortunately its gonna take a lot to climb out of this metaphorical coffin.

Genius move. If you're a ***** of E.A, that's fine. But I'm a fan of baksetball, maybe in 3 years time they'll give us a decent product, they can't afford not too. Might have a good game next year. I love having competition. Makes the other guy better. Win/win for all of us.

Yeeeeah good riddance. Screw you EA! Your half of the reason I only get 1 choice of an NFL game year after year. And who needs competition? VC obviously doesn't, EA haven't had a game in 3 years! 2K12 did take a step back but it seems they needed an "off year" last year to accomplish what we're all about to experience in a few days. VC doesn't need EA or LIVE to make their game better, as far as I can tell they don't even seem to give a sh*t about what EA is doing and are just competing with themselves.

Thank you Mike Wang, devs, programmers and the guys from VC here on OS for striving for greatness and showing that you may be able to buy licenses but you can't buy hard work, passion and real talent.
