you mentioned commentary, can you tell me if the early access verion have brazilian portuguese commentary ? some people say that only yje disc version of the game sold here will have the PT-BR commentary, but i cant find any info about this around the web.
Commentary choices are English, French and Spanish if I recall.
thanks, Ezio. so, the rumours are probably true. a friend of mine is going to the US and he was curious about this, cause he would buy the game in the US if it had brazilian commentary. since the release date here is october 4, i think the commentary is the main reason for the delay...
It's early, but I'm definitely noticing fouls. It has to do with your manner of play of course. If you attempt to hold the ball up and look for options, the CPU will get antsy and tackle you.
I do hope the trend of fewer licensed teams doesn't continue. Serie B, parts of the Brazilian League, parts of the Portuguese league, and a few other teams here and there aren't licensed that have been in the past.
I wonder why the heck they couldn't renew Serie B? If I'm an executive with a club, I want my team in FIFA. It's a great tool to get your brand in front of millions of eyes.
there are definitely fouls. on 7 minute halves the CPU is fouling me 3-5 times a game. I'm playing slow and and on world class. I don't foul much I play a defensive containment game so I get one or two fouls a game if that. I am willing to bet that if I played less a ticky tacky style with Arsenal and a more direct style I would get even more.
CPU play is way more varied as well. Liverpool long balled me to death just recently where as Sunderland was just pinned back and defending the whole time against me.
Very good, very good FIFA so far. JMO. 4 games deep (just referring to game play, so far)
1) Can anyone comment on the backline AI?
Do they cover the wings sufficiently when an attacker is making a run down the side?
And, is it really true that the backline just stands around when there is an attacker around the box, and will not do anything unless you actually switch and take control of one of them?
2) Is the ESPN presentation in both the xbox 360 and PS3 version? Your impressions of it?
Spain up 2-0 and at the 65 minute mark I drop a defender and add Carroll (great with the head). I then push everyone up as far as I can, obviously looking to go 100% offense.
What does Spain do in return? NOTHING
They have Puyol on the bench and don't bring him in as a 5th defender?
The little triangle thing they have going in the midfield also stays in tact, pushed forward for offense with no intent to defend.
They also stay with 3 up front and the overall game plan stays the same... push forward like your on fire! Even when the game was level early, Spain didn't seem to play like Spain. They played exactly like Mexico. Push, push, push.
I wanted to see a beautiful posession game but did not. I wanted to see Spain make neutral and negative passes, but did not. Everything was forward.
They finally make a sub at the 80 minute mark. They brought in Torres for Villa! That's terrible.
I promised myself and a friend who loves FIFA I'd give this game a fair shake and, to be fair, there are some really good things about it. But, if Spain plays like Mexico and the cpu AI is this poor, its hard to keep playing.
only 10 licensed teams from Brazil... i cant understand why... im sure the teams would agree to be in the game, as you said, is a damn good way to make your brand more popular, its marketing... the 20 brazilian teams are licensed in PES. they dont have the league license, as they call Liga do Brasil, when the correct is Campeonato Brasileiro, or Brazilian Championship, in english. but how can EA make such a bad decision llike that? doesnt make any sense, especially in the year they finally put brazilian commentary in the game... oh, almost forgot: the main commentator is not a professional commentator, he is sports show host, called Thiago Leifert, and he is that kind of guy that makes more jokes than he should...

I've also noticed it depends on the referee as well. Certain referees call more than others, to seems to me.
just got some info about licensed teams. executives from Palmeiras, Botafogo and Vasco da Gama said the 3 teams are licensed in the game... well, its even more strange now, cause i saw a pic from an early build of the game showing Palmeiras vs Corinthians, and Palmeiras had its emblem/shield/brand. now its even more confusing
that's a good way to describe it. It's annoying me. It affects gameplay because it causes unnecessary bad first touches due to the bouncing ball, where the pass should have been kept on the ground.
On another note, they have a new Mexican commentary team but they don't sound Mexican. Sounds more like Spaniards and not as funny and passionate as the previous years Mexican announce team
Thats because I think they are. I believe one of them is Mario Kempes.

Serie B hasn't been licensed since FIFA 10 I think.
I've seen fouls, but they are usually jostling fouls (not tackles). I got a penalty kick as me and the cpu were running in the box and he basically grabbed my arm and through me down to the ground as the replay showed, was great.
It is important to remember that whenever one loses to the CPU, it's because the game and its engine are failing, not because, you know...one is indeed bad at FIFA.

Whenever you see glowing impressions of a sports game on the forums it always starts with " won a crazy game". I won games is fantastic. I lost game sucks.

FIFA has been known for its scripting. I mean in the PC version you can literally edit the code of the scripting. So yeah, if that's what is happening in the game for him - so be it. If it's not for others then fine. So far I haven't summarized this game as glowing yet either - it seems to be a mixed bag. Similar to PES 13 how a lot of PES 12 crept in, some of FIFA 12 has crept in as well for FIFA 13.
Eitherway - keep the impressions coming along, I'm counting the days to get this game for the PC.
I'm not against FIFA scripting though. If the CPU is completely mechanical in its response to tactics and context, it would be pretty useless and boring AI.
The key is knowing it when you see it and responding accordingly. In fact, I'd rather not call it scripting, because it's mostly just tactics. Humans have the ability to change tactics midstream, why shouldn't the CPU?
