Played against Juve a few times and couldn't even tell if Pirlo was on the pitch unless the commentators mentioned his name. It is still the same for Xavi and Iniesta, players like this are still not well represented in FIFA. I will say you do see long shots, played against Liverpool and Gerrard was taking longs all the time, a little too much because it constantly wasted possession.

Try playing a career mode game - it wasn't until then that I started seeing cards and fouls. Might have just been that particular referee too.

Based on my experiment with the Spanish Cup it looks like no to that. I pruposely lost the 1st leg 4-0 and they continued to attack even in the 2nd half after they made the agg. 6-0

I think I'm starting to come around. I need to play FIFA 12 now and see how it compares. I started with Krebstar's FIFA 12 sliders and tweaked them until I now am really, really enjoying my matches.

The crabwalking thing is still driving me up a WALL and needs to be patched. But other than that things are really starting to come together.

I HAVE to be imagining this but it feels like the game has slowed down some now. Could they patch that without us knowing it? I wouldn't think so.

I'll play FIFA 12 and 13 back to back to see. I'm probably just getting used to the speed now.

But it will have to wait... Gamecocks play football in 6 minutes.

Some random musings so far:

The Good:

1. First touch is good - needs a little tweaking, but adds a lot of randomness and player skill difference to FIFA.

2. Career mode seems improved, but tough for me to tell (see #3 below).

The Bad:

1. It's too damn fast. FIFA 12 "Normal" = FIFA 13 "Slow"; FIFA 12 "Fast" = FIFA 13 "Normal". Offline is totally playable on Slow, but online is wayyy too fast on Normal.

2. Fouls are whacked. It's far too easy to pick up a booking for taking a shot on goal, whiffing and nicking an opponent's boot. There are almost none called on the CPU, ever. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS FIXING EA!

3. All of my Career mode saves are corrupted and cause the XBox to freeze when I try to load any. I haven't seen anything else online about this so it must just be my config.

4. Fewer licenses compared to FIFA 12 is an disturbing trend.

5. Still only three subs for friendlies in Career mode.

Mexico was up 1-0 and I couldn't get anything going. When I added a striker and pulled a defender Mexico did nothing to respond.

In fact, their shape never changed. The 2 subs they did make were "like for like". Their play style never changed. They never pulled back to defend. This is sad for me because what they should have done was drop a striker and clog the midfield as well as drop a midfielder between the 2 center backs or replace a midfielder for another center back.
I am convinced we just are not going to see that in Fifa this gen. I think it just the way the game is coded IMO.

Anyone tried to use created teams? I've downloaded a couple but when I go to play an exhibition game they're nowhere to be found.

I did notice Pirlo somewhat in my CM game against Juve but again I think because of the way the CPU just gets the ball and looks to attack the liks of the players you mentioned are not represented well as you mentioned

Anyone else's team getting absolutely murdered by the CPU around the box yet not seeing any fouls called? Think I've seen one in 3 matches so far. 6 min halves, Professional setting.

I'm seeing it as well, I mentioned this in another post. The ball is floating almost like a beach ball, not quite like one but not going through the air like a soccer ball.

can i ask you guys to play with some brazilian teams, to see if th ESPN integration wokrs with brazilian teams too? ive heard that in the early access version, some of the brazilian licensed teams are not licensed... strange. im using the IE on xbox now, so i cant paste a link here, but i have a replay on youtube, its from the demo, and i finally saw the attacking AI making a smart run. for those interested, my channel is RazorKaos, just search for fifa 13 - lewandowski scores. manual passing, makes a big difference with this attacking AI.

Yes, I've got some I've been testing and I really like what I'm seeing. On the default settings, there's just too much space between the lines, the marking isn't tight enough, and of course the speed is a tick too fast. Personally I feel one touch is good where it's at. Check the slider forum shortly.

Totally based on nothing but my own anecdotal evidence, but I seem to notice that if I went too low on the player speed/accel sliders, it exaggerates how loose the defenders mark the players.

At first I had them at 45, and found that the defending was still shoddy (admittedly, on both sides of the pitch-- human and CPU), even when I turned the marking sliders up to 75. I really noticed how slow the defenders would chug along when they're backtracking, plus how slow they were to close down. So I turned it the speed/accel sliders up to 50 and, even though the game speed is a little quick, at least they seem a little more interested in going after the ball carrier.

And also, I think that changing the defending work rate for your team might also help a bit in helping your players close down (why all CBs aren't set to high by default is beyond me).

that's a good way to describe it. It's annoying me. It affects gameplay because it causes unnecessary bad first touches due to the bouncing ball, where the pass should have been kept on the ground.

On another note, they have a new Mexican commentary team but they don't sound Mexican. Sounds more like Spaniards and not as funny and passionate as the previous years Mexican announce team

Do they do the GOOOOLLL yell when you score? Last year's was a bit toned down. I hope this years is better. Or I'll have to add it thru the custom sounds again.

you mentioned commentary, can you tell me if the early access verion have brazilian portuguese commentary ? some people say that only yje disc version of the game sold here will have the PT-BR commentary, but i cant find any info about this around the web.
