Has anyone figured out how to view their replays from the demo? EA Sports World is all fubar'd for me.

Will be very interested to see how Krebstars Custom Tactics work for this game. I think it is the best fifa ever.

I seriously don't understand the logic with the AI defenders. It's like they play this bastardized, ineffectual combination of zonal and man D. The worst parts of both strategies. And increasing the marking sliders just opens up a whole 'nother can of worms; they play too tight at midfield, and you can make 2 passes and have just one defender between you and goalkeeper. But I could go on for hours about how frustrating the sliders are in general.

The FIFA 12 D was bad enough, but it's absolutely ridiculous in this demo. Even at higher difficulty settings.

Did you guys know that RVP is in the demo? i dont know if it works on PC and PS3 versions, but, on the xbox, start the demo. in the main menu, logout from xbox live, then log in again. choose Arsenal, and you will find RVP there.

As much as I'd like to think EA will listen to the complaints about AI defending, don't hold your breath.

You'd think they'd go all out and make AI defending really tight and difficult on Legendary.

It's as though something in the engine of the game doesn't allow for useful defense. The cheap cut-in from the edge of the box goal that's being described wouldn't happen if the CPU merely marked!

By the way, I haven't experimented with CPU marking slider but I'll go ahead and assume it makes little or no difference to the observations of Altimus et al.

Zero difference even maxed out, it was the same last year.

Been messing with the sliders and just had probably the best match I've played so far, gameplay and AI wise. Played on legendary, slow speed. PS3 btw. I was Man City vs Arsenal. They actually outshot me 5-2 and they only had 1 shot on target. Much better than the usual perfect shooting we see from the cpu. They also outpossessed me 53-47. Their pass accuracy was 80%. Game ended 0-0 after fulltime. Here are the slider settings: (user/cpu)

sprint 40/40
accel 42/42
shot error 50/60
pass error 50/100
shot speed 46/46
pass speed 40/40
injury freq 50/50
inj sev 50/50
gk ability 65/65
marking 65/100
run freq 50/50
line height 0/0
line length 75/50
line width 45/45
fullback position 50/50

EDIT: played a rematch which I won 1-0 off a Silva freekick goal. Played out pretty good also. This time I outshot them 4-1 and their shot was not on target. They outpossessed me 51-49. Their pass accuracy was 77%

I'll have to give these a shot later tonight.

So I just gave these settings a shot. I was outshot 6-2. The CPU shot accuracy was 66% and their passing accuracy was 73%. The CPU had 42% of possession. 1 foul was called per team.

Tackles are still a bit broken in FIFA 13. It's very difficult to tackle and the CPU had 8 successful tackles in this match.

I have to say though, 40 pass speed is far too slow for my liking. You have to hit the ball at full power every time just to put some pace on it. I know the idea is to slow down the game's tempo, but it resembled 22 senior citizens out for a stroll before the Sunday buffet.

sliders will definitely vary based on users like, dislikes, skill, etc....

I like passing speed at 40 because I usually play a short passing game to break down the defense and then put in a through ball which still has pace. I don't think the slider affects through balls?

The passing speed slider says it only effects ground passes and nothing else. So through balls, lob passes, etc. shouldn't be changed.

I raised User/CPU marking in 12 to around 65-70. I found if you went higher, the defense would play even worse because there was no regard for keeping its shape. Took me a few very high-scoring games to figure that out. I had a run of games in the CM of 4-3, 4-4, 6-3... it was nuts.

As for EA listening... FWIW, I was asked by a dev for my thoughts on the demo. I didn't hold back.

I hope they listen to you. It seems they just haven't addressed the issue for years. My players are so passive on defense. Did you let them know that? I hope they tweak that in the final build.

Thanks for being our representatives to the developers.

Thanks for this I really do want to see FIFA be good for me but to many things hold it back. They have all the the tools and resource to pump out more realistic gameplay so there is no excuse. If they could only find that fine balance between casual and simulation I would be game another EA sports game that was able to find that balance was MVP Baseball 2005, loved that game.

It was a guy on my friends list who now works on FIFA, so it was informal to say the least. I gave a condensed version (still took 3 messages) of what I've said here: first touch is a good addition, default speed too fast/twitchy, not enough support from teammates, players lack urgency especially on defense, manual passes lack oomph, visuals look better, some nice new presentation elements, etc.

He hasn't replied, but he also hasn't removed from his friends list... yet.

Offline/online player? If offline, sliders really do something here, at least in the demo.

For online, it's more about your preference than anything.

Why is Cazorla not on Arsenal's squad?
