Madden NFL 13 News Post

Madden NFL 13 Title Update #2 is available now for 360 users. We'll update this post when PS3 users can see it.

This update includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

The week 1 Madden NFL 13 updated rosters for CCM are not included in this title update, but are supposed to be out sometime this week.

UPDATE: Here are the details on the title update.
  • Added an Instant Start option to Connected Careers as a player
  • Numerous commentary improvements to address when lines trigger and what they say.
  • Added a trade notification in CCM for the NFL Draft
  • Fixed social media sharing post-game to address spacing issues
  • Improved the GameFace feature
  • Fixed Challenge Audio to make the appropriate call
  • Improved Physics Get-up post play
  • Adjusted created players in Connected Careers so that they always have high progression grades despite their backstory choices
  • Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage
  • Increased the chances to trade for a CPU team’s starter
  • Adjusted the scouting development trait in CCM to display as (Slow, Medium, Fast, or Superstar) instead of 0-3.
  • Added the ability to post results from H2H MUT games on Facebook/Twitter.
  • Numerous stability issues around the game in general were also included in the update to improve the overall experience and Connected Careers specifically.

Software is hardly comparable to purchasing a car anymore than its comparable to eating a bowl of soup. Its unique in that in that if it has problems, and almost inevitably will, they can be fixed. These fixes take time, yes. But be glad they exist at all. Before the current gen youd just be stuck with what came out of the box with console games. Just take a deep breath, avoid the negativity of this board and enjoy your product as is until more fixes come, or dont. But people coming on here to have one conniption fit after another every single day doesnt accomplish anything and lowers the overall experience for everyone. It would be nice to come here and not feeling like im dealing with a romper room class of children. No offense.

Confirmed so far:

-Created players can now be starters right away.
-Schemes now save in offline ccm.

was it the first possession that the field goal was scored on? because the ONLY time a field goal doesn't end the overtime is if it is scored on the FIRST possession. a fumbled kickoff counts as a possession for the receiving team too....

Then I would rather have them keep Franchise and CCM until CCM is ready to completely replace franchise.

Yes they did take these things out. Were they in last years game? and previous years? Are they in this years game? They have been removed from last year to this year. Those features that were in the game last year are missing from this years game. Saying they were not taken out is just a semantics game.
Connected Careers is not Franchise Mode, so those features were not taken out, they were simply not added into the code that was written for Connected Careers. Bottom line is that online play was the focus this year, offline was the focus last year, clearly. The main reason they went ahead and made CCM was to be able to work on both on and offline in the same year, as well as superstar(which is ccm as a player). I know it's frustrating for many this year, but in the end, the decision to go to CCM will be better for everyone.

Yea, they definitely aren't tripping all over one another post play now.

I turn player roles off so I never saw this problem and never knew their was one. But we did have the option to turn roles off.

Still not anywhere near the problems that Madden is released with.

The only significant problem I had with MLB2K was lineups being changed by the CPU because of injury management. That was the only significant problem I had with MBL2K PC. Still not the same number of issues that Madden is released with. Now I've never had The Show because it only comes out on console (why I always got MLB2K), so I might have a different view of MLB2k if I had tried The Show. I am tempted.

Still, other released are not as buggy as Madden.
The Show > MLB2k and its not even close. I couldn't play the last 2k baseball game I tried to play it was so messed up. Similar to madden right now, but it was never fixed in the first six months.

Imagine buying a car and being told after that they'll add the A/C knob later. It's only gonna be so long driving around hot that you give up. Yeah, it's usable but c'mon.

This is why I usually trade Madden in a quarter into the NFL season. Broken at release, patches promised, takes forever, loss of interest, trade in...

It's genious, though. They get the money and we get an unfinished product that we won't get a full return on when we trade it in.

So, yeah, people are frustrated.

Sorry, man, but I ain't buying that. It feels different but not THAT different.
Everything about Madden 13 is what they said it would be. EA told people they were making big changes this year and nobody really thought twice because of their past. Well, now it's on the consumers for not doing more research. I have not been surprised one time by something that wasn't in Madden 13 that I thought would be. I guess because I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought the game, I have been able to enjoy it more than most. To me the gameplay improvements out weigh everything else that is missing in Connected Careers compared to the old Franchise mode. I haven't enjoyed a Madden game or played one as much as I have this one since 2005. I look forward to seeing where they expand and build upon this game in the future and I am satisfied with my purchase enough this year to not feel like I was misrepresented or deceived by EA. I expect this game to improve greatly next year and the following year, but for now it is a great start with a clear direction of a brighter future.

And now you are doing exactly what most pro madden people on tthis board are doing, saying you don't see it as an issue because they aren't things that concern you. Player roles was hyped and if done correctly would have added tremendous immersion so the option to turn them off is not an excuse for them not working. Maybe the centers weren't an issue for the pc but it was as close as you can get to unplayable for console sim players.

Battlefield can give us 4 title updates that are 1gb plus with additional content, but Madden NFL football can't give us what was in a 12mb title update Maybe EA should have DICE make a football game and dump Tiburon! One could only hope that 2k comes back into the NFL!

Obviously vehicles are different from software. If the A/C was digital, would that help you understand?

The point is that people are being sold something that doesn't work like advertised year after year. I've already given up on NCAA and I'm getting there with Madden.

Years of bad AI play calling, time outs at 1:01, bad depth chart AI a few years into franchise mode, broken sliders, broken zone/man defense, bad line play, and the list goes on. Yet another year of the "calm down, it's just a game" nonsense. EA just needs to freaking step it up, but really, they need competition. When is the license up?

And last gen Madden was almost always good (not flawless) out of the box, IMO, because they knew they had to get it right the first time.

Now, patches make devs lazy. No need to have everything tight for the release when 2 months later you can fix the bigger bugs.

It is genius.

To me the biggest point is that Madden 13 is not a descendant from Madden 12. It is a complete reboot of the franchise. It is as different a game as MLB 2k is from MLB the Show. We'll see which of the two the game ends up being.

Finally got the update, going to experiment and see what if any differences it makes.

# 135 steamboat @ 09/11/12 12:44 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that a PS2 game is infinitely easier to program then a PS3 game. And that led to the longer dev times for the average game did it not? If it did, and a game is needed on a shortened dev timetable would that not increase the potential for bugs? Logically, I believe this is true. PS3 requires a longer dev time but they cannot afford to push back the game every year to compensate for that need, thus more bugs. Particularly when they are rewriting the code from scratch. I'd personally rather a game come out every two years and get roster updates, but realistically that would kill madden.

The show is by far the closest thing to perfect right out of the box. They had some physics issues this year but that only consisted of their friction settings being too loose and causing balls to bounce slightly too high on pop ups.

Even if roles were not working well, it's not even close to how Madden is released.

I always get the PC game instead of the console game.
If only they would release madden for the pc. It's bad when i would much rather play a front page sports updated than madden.

Does anybody know if signature celebrations are working correctly now or do we still have to score 100 touchdowns with Cam to see 1 superman?
