Madden NFL 13 News Post

Madden NFL 13 Title Update #2 is available now for 360 users. We'll update this post when PS3 users can see it.

This update includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

The week 1 Madden NFL 13 updated rosters for CCM are not included in this title update, but are supposed to be out sometime this week.

UPDATE: Here are the details on the title update.
  • Added an Instant Start option to Connected Careers as a player
  • Numerous commentary improvements to address when lines trigger and what they say.
  • Added a trade notification in CCM for the NFL Draft
  • Fixed social media sharing post-game to address spacing issues
  • Improved the GameFace feature
  • Fixed Challenge Audio to make the appropriate call
  • Improved Physics Get-up post play
  • Adjusted created players in Connected Careers so that they always have high progression grades despite their backstory choices
  • Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage
  • Increased the chances to trade for a CPU team’s starter
  • Adjusted the scouting development trait in CCM to display as (Slow, Medium, Fast, or Superstar) instead of 0-3.
  • Added the ability to post results from H2H MUT games on Facebook/Twitter.
  • Numerous stability issues around the game in general were also included in the update to improve the overall experience and Connected Careers specifically.

Just had the Man Coverage glitch happen in my first game post patch

Does anyone know if it is even possible for Madden/EA to patch in coach mode and broadcast cam into CCM? Please let me know as that is the main reason I wanted this game. It's fun playing but really grew to like coach mode in NCAA 12 but needed an NFL fix this year..

Had it happen to me in an online game. I did not touch the R Analog until my defender engaged the OT. As soon as I engaged and hit R Analog Down I saw both safeties drop out of deep 1/2 responsibility and all three of my CBS (nickel) abandoned coverage. Easy TD.

Cater to us in terms of gameplay and cater to the casual gamers in terms of marketing and you got us both.
The truth of the matter is that the "sim" player, as you personify, is not only fickle, his demands can never be met; nothing that gets done, or added, will ever be good enough. Sure, you might satisfy some, but the more you add and tweak and bother, the more you risk irking the multitude of people that have no problems. You fix one thing for one group and another gets pissed. EA cannot win. They make the game to the best of their abilities, which tends to be slightly above "capable" but well below "fantastic". Every. time. EA games, across the board, are competent, but none of them "wow". This is true, and has been true, and will be true, until the day they go bankrupt.

You know what bothers me? The fact it takes so damn long to just play a game. Loading. Loading. Update? EA screen. Other screen. Menu screen. Press start. Loading. Checking. Loading. Menu screen. It drives me mad. Such is the world we live. We move on.

I know they are looking into the Broadcast/Zoom camera for CCM, but there will be no coach mode for Madden 13 within CCM.

The more I play the more I'm unsure if the R-analog helps or if it's just in my mind. But here's something more concrete:

It's happening ALOT in CPU vs. CPU games, and that has nothing to do with laying off the right stick since I'm not playing the game. The bug is therefore "coded" into the gameplay. This leads me to beleive that not pressing a button (right stick) has nothing to do with whether or not we see the bug.

CPU vs. CPU will ALWAYS "tell" on a game's AI.

I am not attacking you or him, I am just trying to understand why you guys interact the way you do. I see many football fundamental discussions spontaneously spark on this board, where really solid questions and suggestions are raised concerning Madden but haven't noticed you guys chime in. I remember when ChaseB started a thread to ask people about commentary, checked in to reply to posts and I even saw some things discussed, in M13. I am not saying we necessarily caused those hings because they likely were already slated but it was nice to be acknowledged.

You guys are on these boards, yet don't really seem like a part of the OS discussions, which I think is unfortunate. I think just getting involved more in these discussions and getting a true understanding of where people are coming from with wanting NFL passion to be in Madden, would go a long way. I keep reading where the devs say they read these boards and think that nice to know. Reading is one thing but truly grasping where we are coming from is another thing entirely and that's what seems to be missing. There seems to be some disconnect or something lost in translation with what we describe on these boards, that devs say the read, with what ends up in the game.

I do a lot of reading past threads and I am encouraged by the level of interaction Ian had back then. However, I also noticed what seemed to be that same disconnect because, imo, the interaction I have read was more him getting feedback on what he wanted to do versus a true back and forth. I would like to see you guys get down in the muck with us because I don't think anybody at Tiburon can "get it" without fully mixing it up. Being an observer from a far is better than nothing but truly being apart of the living dialog that takes place on here makes for better understanding. Some threads start out slow but like some great movies, get really deep as they progress and it would be nice to see you guys being a part of those.

This is I believe why it would be nice if OS had a sub forum where the mods hand picked some members to interact with the devs for each title...

That way, the conversation could be guaranteed to be relatively civil and intelligent...

Nice post, tho...

The same bugs and problems with my offline CCM before the patch are still there.

Did this patch include the ability to play co-op on the same console in CCM?

Very disappointing. Do you know if they're still discussing whether or not it may be included down the line or have they given a stern no?

That's because the patch wasn't for offline. It was for online. I should know, I tested everything out.

Co-op CCM hasn't been mentioned in relation to the patch as yet, but roster editing has.

Please tweet Josh Looman to request that long standing gameplay mode co-op is reintroduced to Madden. It's been in the Madden series for 15+ years, in which time me and my co-op friends have become hooked on it, so it's both strange and totally unprecedented for a team based sports game to turn it's back on teamwork.

Not only that, you still have to re-choose conventional play style, every game, from the pause menu.

The wrong lines still trigger- ex.

Receiving team recovering an onside kick triggers "Horrible job by returner/return team" with a bad field position comment, and just the opposite can happen as well.

Jim Nantz saying extra point is team going into no huddle.

Dropped balls almost never the recovers fault. Turn catching on 0 and you won't even hear one dropped pass comment the whole game, its always "bad throw by the QB that time."

etc.

People still flip around on the ground, and I just had an interception where the MLB's arm go caught on the back of another player. He reached toward the ground where the deflected pass was falling towards with his other arm...and the football proceeded to fly through his arm and legs, the other players body, and into his hand. Like he was using the force.

Oh, and I can tell you what the stability issue fixes AREN'T. Offline CCM freezing. Its happened four times already.

Seriously.....the patch didnt fix nothing that we wanted it to fix. Thats all. Imagine....if we could pick "3" things that we wanted the patch to fix....i bet u the game would be super good. We gotta keep throwing these thoughts at EA thats all. Hopefully....they listen and patch 3 comes sooner then we think.

This will hopefully allow me to trade for Ben Tate from the Texans who just wouldn't release him!

This is from another thread. I would like to see a list of everything, but im happy to see that the patch is bigger then we actually thought.

Actually it didn't. I tested the trade logic for both online and offline.

How? I chose the packers, activate active coach, tried trading Nick Perry for Chargers Larry English, it went through online.

Offline, nope.

Tried different scenarios, all came different from each other online and offline.
