Madden NFL 13 News Post

Madden NFL 13 Title Update #2 is available now for 360 users. We'll update this post when PS3 users can see it.

This update includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

The week 1 Madden NFL 13 updated rosters for CCM are not included in this title update, but are supposed to be out sometime this week.

UPDATE: Here are the details on the title update.
  • Added an Instant Start option to Connected Careers as a player
  • Numerous commentary improvements to address when lines trigger and what they say.
  • Added a trade notification in CCM for the NFL Draft
  • Fixed social media sharing post-game to address spacing issues
  • Improved the GameFace feature
  • Fixed Challenge Audio to make the appropriate call
  • Improved Physics Get-up post play
  • Adjusted created players in Connected Careers so that they always have high progression grades despite their backstory choices
  • Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage
  • Increased the chances to trade for a CPU team’s starter
  • Adjusted the scouting development trait in CCM to display as (Slow, Medium, Fast, or Superstar) instead of 0-3.
  • Added the ability to post results from H2H MUT games on Facebook/Twitter.
  • Numerous stability issues around the game in general were also included in the update to improve the overall experience and Connected Careers specifically.

Thanks.
Is it that hard to say if anything specifically was done to Offline Connected Careers? If I'm reading between the lines here, it doesn't look like anything was addressed. "Stability issues" makes me think Online.

Guess if I want to give CCM a go, I'll have to do an Online one. EA can now add me to its percentage of connected gamers thanks to their inability to resolve issues for the offline gamer.

You've seen an NFL team run the ball on 4th and 15 plenty of times.

edit: Saw your other post. Still funny.

Can you do an online CCM without XBL Gold? Just single player?

Plenty of times, man? C'mon.

I'm willing to bet that even the Patriots, if they were multitudes of TDs ahead, would rarely run, if at all, on 4th and 15 no matter the field position. Ryan Leaf at QB, and they still wouldn't run.

Yeah, I'm sure it has happened, but let's not get ridiculous. If anything, teams will "pooch punt" or try for a field goal when deep into an opponent's territory, or if they are within their own territory, they punt, no matter the lead.

If you are talking high school football, that's a whole other story.

edit: Saw your edit. lol

I've been playing Madden for 15 years and I've never felt quite as ostracized as a player until this year's version. The designers clearly have purposely stripped down the game to make it more appealing to the online crowd that likes to go for it on 4th-and-20 in the first quarter, at the expense of people with actual football intelligence and desire to see it exist in the game.

CCM is a great idea on paper, but as most have observed, it's a complete failure this year. All its problems have already been spelled out by many others here so I won't bother, but long story short it's just NOT FUN.

The gameplay is fine, and the physics are definitely way improved, but aside from that the overall gameplay experience is the tiny tick better from the last incarnation that you experience with every new Madden when comparing it to its predecessor.

What slays me is that EA actually believe they can get away with polarizing such a large percentage of their fan base. You guys do realize I don't HAVE to give you $60 every year, right? Madden isn't some mandatory tax I have to pay. And if/when 2K gets the rights to make a game to compete with EA, Madden will become as much a relic as the NBA Live series.

I'm sorry I fell for it again. Roster Update 13 changed a lot, but none of those changes make me feel like Madden will be a worthwhile investment now or in the future.

EA, you've become far too comfortable and complacent. Right now you're the Roman Empire, and we all know what happened to them.

The point is that people are being sold something that doesn't work like advertised year after year. I've already given up on NCAA and I'm getting there with Madden.

Years of bad AI play calling, time outs at 1:01, bad depth chart AI a few years into franchise mode, broken sliders, broken zone/man defense, bad line play, and the list goes on. Yet another year of the "calm down, it's just a game" nonsense. EA just needs to freaking step it up, but really, they need competition. When is the license up?

And last gen Madden was almost always good (not flawless) out of the box, IMO, because they knew they had to get it right the first time.

Now, patches make devs lazy. No need to have everything tight for the release when 2 months later you can fix the bigger bugs.

It is genius.

Very well said.

I haven't seen any mention that 1:01 thing before so I thought I was the only one experiencing it.
With all the things they stripped out of this game, you think they could of stripped a bug like the CPU calling a time out at 1:01 at the end of halves. I mean cmon, playing ONE game can make you notice this oversight. Every cpu opponent does it without fail no matter what down and distance et cetera and yet, it was in Madden 12 and now its in 13...Bravo EA.

On former gens we didn't wait for patches. It's madness to think that I have owned this game for two weeks and instead of playing it whenever I have the time, I spend more time on here comparing the short comings with other perceptive people who want an adequate football game. I mean, I didn't even know forums like this existed until Madden killed the competition in 05 - big sign that something is wrong.

Step it the F up.

After playing another game, a few things I've noticed.

More stumbling/putting hands on ground animations.

QB accuracy is not as good

Cpu passing and running game is better

More broken tackles by cpu

Just like in real football, competition breeds success.

I really don't even know what to say... I feel so stupid for thinking that EA would put some effort into making the game better post release... Once they got our money, you start getting half - assed patch details that are gibberish. Patches that take care of cosmetic part of the game. I mean, have these guys tested out their "Golden Child" CCM that they blew up the media with?? CPU Season Stats are HORRENDOUS... The AI is worthless from Rookie to All Madden, slider modification makes absolutely no in game difference... Editing, Editing, Editing... Can't stress that enough, half of these fans won't complain about the inconsistent Roster Updates if EA would have LEFT IN Player Editing. Notice the emphasis on the LEFT IN... Why would you eliminate an option that we all loved? You guys don't fix issues we complain about, but you take away things we like? Its ridiculous that this patch was useless... I love how the EA Payroll trolls vouch for them by stating this Patch was processed well before all of these issues were blown up by the community... I find that hard to believe!! Madden should come out with a free supply of Migraine medication... It sickens me that I already see guys giving EA the benefit of the doubt YET AGAIN... "Well, the next patch will definitely fix the issues!" That type of thinking has led us to where we are right now... Complaining about the lack of effort post release by the UNRELIABLE EA Madden Team... 2K Needs to work hard as hell to get partial ownership of the license so EA can have some past due competition... PES has FIFA guys on their toes which causes both games to deliver fresh sharp games each year... Madden has absolutely nobody to worry about... We are all sick and tired of being sick and tired of Madden...

I think a lot of people are becoming jaded by EA and it's business practice.

I said it awhile back. Think back to Tecmo Bowl days. This was when Tecmo Bowl was vastly popular and EA Madden was barely even getting any notice. Hell, Joe Montana football was more popular than Madden back then.

But fast forward now. EA is on top, Tecmo is long gone so are the makers for Gameday and other football games.

Time is almost up for them. They need to value the consumer a little more than this.

Really?

Improved Physics Get-up post play

# 359 BetterCallSaul @ 09/11/12 10:53 PM
Absolutely. I can remember just before EA got exclusive rights, there was some other series, I think it was called Quarterback Club or something. I can't remember who made it (989 maybe? I remember Rich Gannon and Brett Favre being on the cover) but I can recall even that game being superior to Madden at the time, and that's not even taking 2K into account.

When EA became exclusive I can remember being a little annoyed because by that point I'd only been playing 2K for a year or two, but I didn't mind going back to EA because Madden had always been fine enough for me. Fast forward a decade and it's just become unbearable.

It's depressing that it almost makes me glad I'm enough of a grown-up now that I don't have the time I used to to play the games so I don't have to feel quite so disappointed about the game being underwhelming.

# 360 Sidion @ 09/11/12 10:59 PM
Love how they update and BREAK my game. I can't play against another user in any CCM now that the game is updated.
