Madden NFL 13 News Post

Madden NFL 13 Title Update #2 is available now for 360 users. We'll update this post when PS3 users can see it.

This update includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

The week 1 Madden NFL 13 updated rosters for CCM are not included in this title update, but are supposed to be out sometime this week.

UPDATE: Here are the details on the title update.
  • Added an Instant Start option to Connected Careers as a player
  • Numerous commentary improvements to address when lines trigger and what they say.
  • Added a trade notification in CCM for the NFL Draft
  • Fixed social media sharing post-game to address spacing issues
  • Improved the GameFace feature
  • Fixed Challenge Audio to make the appropriate call
  • Improved Physics Get-up post play
  • Adjusted created players in Connected Careers so that they always have high progression grades despite their backstory choices
  • Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage
  • Increased the chances to trade for a CPU team’s starter
  • Adjusted the scouting development trait in CCM to display as (Slow, Medium, Fast, or Superstar) instead of 0-3.
  • Added the ability to post results from H2H MUT games on Facebook/Twitter.
  • Numerous stability issues around the game in general were also included in the update to improve the overall experience and Connected Careers specifically.

When EA became exclusive I can remember being a little annoyed because by that point I'd only been playing 2K for a year or two, but I didn't mind going back to EA because Madden had always been fine enough for me. Fast forward a decade and it's just become unbearable.

It's depressing that it almost makes me glad I'm enough of a grown-up now that I don't have the time I used to to play the games so I don't have to feel quite so disappointed about the game being underwhelming.
Yep, Quarterback Club with Favre on the cover beat madden any day during that time period, and it was fun to play different versions of NFL football. Even if some of those games/developers were HUGE failures at what they did, at least those developers would disappear and make room for the big boys. EA should take some notes, as many of us think it's time for EA to hang it up.

Guys are exaggerating. IMO its not toned down its tighter and the way it should have been when launched.

The game looks much better on the field now.

This is good news. I've been criticizing the hell out of this game but i'll give credit for this.

I played every qb club game, they were fun. NFL fever also had some real good potential. I remember that was the most real feeling games in terms of feeling the heavyness of the players. They also had great replays and cut scene cam angles, the only thing they lacked was a lot of animations but they were definitely a promising competitor in nfl games.

On a minor positive note, some of the scouting isn't as expensive point-wise as it was before. Commenting on an earlier post, I was wondering why I was having issues completing passes all of a sudden. I do find my run game a little better with not as much tripping over his own feet and when slightly bumped. However, the issues with falling over...I have seen that still.

Can someone please explain to me whether the update will affect your career if you've already started one? Or do I have to start a totally new career in order for the update to work on my career also?

If someone could answer this so I know whether I will be wasting my time continuing to play my career only for it not to have the update imrpove some of the things they supposedly improved.

I just answered my question as obvious as it may have seemed, so yes it does affect your career if you've already started. I would be more than disappointed if it didn't.

I'm no fan of Twitter but due to my desperation to see co-op reintroduced, I've created an account and tweeted Josh Looman. If you've got a Twitter account do the same and ask your co-op teammates to do the same.
I sincerely applaud this effort, i think ill do the same.

Anyone know if this patch fixed the stadium sounds, fight songs, td celebrations? I've been told the sounds and songs are in the game, but they are being drowned out by the crowd. Hope it got fixed. All problems with this game aside if they get the stadium specific stuff fixed this game atmosphere wise gets an A.

Passing along another minor note. I've noticed since the patch that trading is a little more relaxed. It's not the point where it will allow ridiculous trades (thankfully), but the possibility to make sensible trades that the system wouldn't take before exists.

I doubt it man, they can't even fix the basic and simple things that have been in every game since like 2000, and I don't care if its a different code isn't that why people go to college and get paid the big bucks to figure it out. They make it seem like there building the next space shuttle. Instead of getting flag football games together with celebs and old players test the darn game out. sorry for the rant but the sound is improved didn't notice anything in the patch im sure that's all well get this year.

Don't know if this has been addressed but the PS3 version of the patch has definately enhanced the visuals in Madden 13. I'm noticing less jaggies and the anti-aliasing seems to have been utilized. Occasionally the players will still look a little fuzzy, but it's definately been a step up from the initial retail version.

Couple things...

1) In my Online CCM, my friends had a variety of games this week. A 17-13 loss (Pitt vs Philly (User)), a 0-36 loss (NYJ vs Houston (User)), and a 13-3 win.

The interesting thing was, in my game with Pittsburg, I was up most of the game and the CPU dropped back 40 times, and only handed the ball off 20 times. In my friends game where he was losing the whole game it was the exact opposite. Sanchez threw the ball 26 times and handed it off 45 times. Unfortunately, 39 of those carries went to S. Green. So obviously, EA hasn't tuned the halfback carries at all.

2) Didn't notice any broken man coverages where my CB would dive into the backfield only to get burned on a streak.

3) Has anyone checked if user v user games has been fixed as far as accelerated clock goes? We have our first one this upcoming week, and I'm not sure whether or not I have to change the time to better fit a game with no accelerated clock or what. If so, do I have to do it before the week advances like in NCAA?

Well, it happened to me tonight, unfortunately, playing against the CPU. Both my corner and safety bit on the non-exist playfake/PA/whatever they though they saw and it resulted in a 30-yard wide open TD when I wan in 2-man under coverage.

It just makes me wonder what EXPLICITY and LEGALLY was being referred to in this quote:

"Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage"

A good solid patch #3 will turn Madden 13 into a heck of a game.

Hopefully they can nail it down these coming weeks.

Yeah, I automatically turned it down to 0 when I first booted up the game, even though i wasn't exactly sure what it does, LOL.

I wish that was the problem, but I was controlling the d-lineman anyway so I'm not quite sure if it would have helped the same as if I controlled db play.

The whole motion sensor thing reminds me when I would play Mario Bros in the water segment and I would be bobbing my controller up and down with Mario. My uncle would yell "Stop bobbing your hands up and down it doesn't do anything!" LOL.

OMG, I wish people would stop being matchbook lawyers. So many over-zealous folks who think they can file a class-action for anything listed as a feature of fix.

Yesterday i played my 1st game post patch.

Instead of choosing the Bengals as i always do for my testing Offline CCM (Tired of Bengals vs Ravens game, i played that game like 1000 times already) I played the Jets and Greene ran for 167yds with a 7.2 avg. Ivory also ran for 6 att but 25yds.

Total team was 216 rushing yds against me. This was on All pro default with my own house-rules (basically I only control one player, nothing else, i donīt shift, or audible pre snap and i donīt switch Post nap. Sounds boring but if the cpu run against me with this, iīm cool with that. I did play this way before pre patch and even like this the cpu didnīt ran against me at all.

Maybe it was a fluke, it was just 1 game, but it was just right after the patch, and i played like 100 games and i never had the cpu running on me like this at all.

I donīt know, but it was crazy how much better he was running compared to before. Maybe this is why some Online CCM said that their running was ok.

I regret that i played with another team, because i donīt have nothing to compared with. But i never had the cpu running on my like this before.

It was a fluke? the patch did tweak the CPU running a bit?

I also notice that the subs has more impact, at default i even had 1 carry with my 3rd string RB.

Today iīll try to play a few more games to see if it was just coincidence or not.

I like what they've done with the physics personally. I know some probably feel it's toned down way too much -- to the degree that it doesn't justify the marketing. But I like the way they're tuned post patch and hope they stay this way.
