NBA Live 13 News Post

It looks like NBA Live 13 is coming out as a digital release after all and not a full on $60 AAA title if the report from IRB Gamer today is to be believed. This seems a pretty big admission that Live simply isn't ready for prime-time obviously, which also obviously seems to be the case. What a mess.

IRB Gamer has the scoop:

Quote:
"It’s been almost 3 years since we’ve released an NBA title,” the EA rep said. The tactic is to get feedback from gamers. However, it’s a bit risky to not run it as the AAA title as thedecision has been made to NOT put the game on disc.

Live will be looking at a price point around $19.99
,” equaling out to 1600 Microsoft Points or $20 PlayStation Network card.

What do you guys think? Smart decision by EA? Does this mean Live isn't up to par quality wise?

Sound off!

Yeah if it was free LOL but they're 2yrs in with this though. I think they're just winging it to get money until next gen. Dont forget we talking about EA and they are basically releasing something like a beta demo which is suppose to be free to get your money. I take this as disrespect for the fans to keep them waiting 2yrs and smack them with this, just nasty but smart on their part because of those who are gullible ......................?

Seriously though, why do they NOW care about feedback? They've been silent literally the entire summer. They made a gimmick of an ad council where they supposedly took the brightest minds out there to give them feedback and nobody from EA Sports has set foot here or in they're own forums or any other forum to pick guys' minds on what they want to see, but for a mere 20 dollars your feedback will be used and appreciated. It's not a good look man.

I may have asked this before, but I'll ask again. Has there ever been a time where #shotsfired have been declared only for the declaring parties to immediately be gunned down by a semi-automatic after missing with every bullet?

I just don't get the point in selling it for $20 bucks. I think they should just bury it but if they are going to sell it, sell it for $10 bucks. I'm guessing they are trying to get the people that don't go to websites like these and milking money from them. The other game you can get for $30 bucks on PC, so yea rather spend $10 bucks more and get a complete game........

As I stated months ago....NBA Live is finished. At least for this gen. And it it is sad because with 2years off, they should have delivered a great NBA game, instead we may be getting a DLC game....tells you a lot about the efforts of the team overr at EA Spoerts. Wow.

Wow pll are thrilled really? Even for 20 bucks its a rip off. ****in arcade gameplay this game is for 5 year old kids. EA just kill the game already.

Lol at #shotsfired. Hiphopgamer reminds me of Brian Pumper.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what you just said or what you have a problem with.

So let me get this straight, they want us to pay $20 and tell them what we have been telling them a million times before? Good job EA.

3 years and they came up with a barely DLC like game?

Everybody saying "sure, I'll plop down $20 or X000 MS Points to help make sure next year's game will be much better" is missing the big picture.

While EA spends the next year (that is, if they don't shelf the franchise indefinitely) using the foundation of Live 13 to build Live 14, 2K will be listening to the fans (as they always have), adding features (as they always have), figuring out ways to expand the basketball world inside of a Sim basketball game (as they always have), tightening the controls and animations (as they always have), and marketing the spit out of their brand (as they have since about 2K9). Next year's 2K14 will be so far out of reach of EA's paltry efforts...if I was a C-level executive at EA Sports, I would only see two options available to me that would help us patch this up:

1. Go back to NBA Street as our flagship basketball franchise, and give up Sim basketball, or
2. Do a MASSIVE layoff and recruit better talent to make a better game, presumably luring some of the Visual Concepts guys over with hefty contracts and benefits packages.

Both are drastic changes, but with an outing like anything close to what we've seen with Live 13--even if just the complete and utter mishandling of this franchise for the last 2 years--there's not a lot they could do to dust themselves off with this series, let alone lure 2K ballers over.

This would be a perfect scouting opportunity, though, because some of the guys on the boards (be it OS, EA's boards, or 2K's boards) have some friggin GREAT ideas on how to make a great basketball game. Give these guys the jobs; they have the passion and knowledge of the game that you need, EA.

Pretty sure every DLC game has a trial....

What a joke i wanted to give live a chance‚ but after the silence and that bs rookie rating vid and that terrible so called leaked gameplay vid to hell with it. Not a fan boy its just 2K seems to be king again and i think 2k13 is really gonna be great. $20 or $5 won't get my money for a ****ty game i rather play live 98.

Agreed....

$20 is too much. $10 should be the price.

# 118 mets718 @ 08/30/12 10:15 PM
I like the idea.. they will try to win the trust of the fans back by letting us pay less and test drive the game.

You are correct. That'll pretty much be the extent of my interaction with the game. I'll buy NBA Live 10 before I ever spend money on NBA Live 13, no offense to the people that worked on this game.
