Bug feedback. Goal review did not work.

Played two player co-op on the demos HUT mode.
We were down 0-1 but in the last minute, we scored a goal.

However, the ref came in and waved off for a goal review.
Watched the replays a few time, and Gary Thorne was talking about how this could've been a kick, as it went skate in.
After the review, the ref pointed towards the center point as to allow the goal, my players cheered, and the camera showed the goal scorer.

However, when going back to the play and center ice face off, the score was still 0-1, and we ended up loosing the game.

100% a bug. Hope it doesn't transfer to the retail.
And I might add this is the one and only goal review I've seen in the demo. Probably have over 150 games (periods) played.

This was the NA Demo, on PS3 in HUT mode.

Although a bug, pretty cool that goal reviews are in. Never have seen that myself in any version.

Oh, they were there last year already. Great little touch to the game.
Like I said, I've only seen it once in the demo, and it didn't look like anything new... except for not giving me a goal though the ref allowed it.

Really cool addition last year, only thing I wish is that you could actually hear the ref talking. In the game you can see his mouth moving but it's silent.

Yeah I really like how the reviews are done in NHL.

The replays of the goal imo are done well. And as far as I know, there's no visual giveaway which way the call will go. [before the call is made]

If it's a really important goal that's being reviewed...it's pretty cool to be sweating in out waiting for the call.

I am slowly (very slowly) improving as I play the demo. I had a good times/bad times HUT session today. Both games went to OT and ended quickly. In the first game I got the puck off a turnover and took a shot that the golaie brushed off into the air. A teammate who was near the net batted the puck out of the air and hit the post. The puck landed beside the goalie and I was able to push it in and get the win.

My second OT game ended when Nj took a slapshot that deflected off of my defensemen's stick and rainbowed over my goalie's glove and into the net.

OK, it's official - I love this demo, but I've played it too much. :-) It's now time to wait until I can download the game on Friday night.

I absolutely love the new skating physics, it definitely brings a more authentic feel to the game. And although the CPU isn't as stout at the blue line as I hoped, it's much more of a challenge getting a good shot off in the slot. I can't wait to start playing with sliders in the full game.

Although I was initially worried about "super goalies", I'm finding that once I work for a good scoring opportunity, I can get it past the goalie with regularity (I'm playing Superstar/hardcore).

Im not liking the boardplay so far. Something weird happens when u release from the boards. Its almost similar to a pinball machine. My player just shoots off the boards like he was shot out of a cannon. Am i the only one experiencing this issue?

Definitely not. Board play is one of the weakest aspects of the game.

Hopefully they'll upgrade it next year.

The suction in boardplay still exists too.....a player skating at a high enough speed should break right through.

I'm also not sure if size/speed/strength even matters.
Chara could be going at 100MPH and Jiri Hudler could still suck him into a board-pin animation.

Things I don't like
-Your AI defenders still might be a few feet from the puck and make no attempt to go for it, so you have to click on them, but by then the opposing AI probably has picked up the loose puck.
-Even on Hardcore the opposing AI can tape to tape pass way up ice.
-The hitting still seems unrealistic
-The stick and puck physics need a overhaul (probably won't happen until next gen)
-The goalie on fast breaks seems to win most of the time. An unreal level of winning.

Thought it was to bad that we couldn't get a taste of some of the GM functions...but I do understand they can't put the entire game on the Demo or else who would need to buy the game

Undecided about this, I may skip again this year. I'm worried that once again, in order to have a competitive game, game play (slider settings) needs to be in favor of CPU (I'm talking offline play here).

Still feel like human-controlled players are at a disadvantage. Regarding demo:
- CPU player acceleration seems quicker
- CPU players seem more agile
- CPU can instantly gain control of a puck that is directly behind player
- CPU recovers from stick-lift too quick, making SL only good for getting penalties
- CPU can release shots and passes quicker (see below), and strip and intercept pucks much better
- CPU goalies also seem quicker and less "fumbly", though this could just be down to early inaccurate ratings and the goalies we have access to.
- Human defence positioning is wrong at times, such as not going to the walls when the puck is at the boards (therefore won't receive pass)
- Still too easy to gain the offensive zone
- As above, board play suction is terrible

Regarding the quicker CPU passing; it has always bugged me how the pressure-sensitive triggers use a "timed release" system for pass strength. Obviously if I've thought pass strength should be determined by "press strength", then I'm sure EA has considered it. It just seems logical. The only reason I can think of why it's not implemented, is because is would take away a human disadvantage (delayed passing). Shouldn't there at least be an option for it?

On a positive note, the game "feels" much better. Skating and momentum feels great, and racing CPU defenders to the puck is much more fair (that drove me mad in previous games). Player separation is also FAR better.

Apologies for the mini rant

Beyond excited for this game.

This will truly be the first perfect hockey game...

The broadcast cam the skating and overall gameplay is steller AND they have HDR lighting to boot LOL.

Slider work for sure from Tomba!

I hope your right about perfection, but guessing after release we will all find improvement opportunities just like after every game release

Looks like bezerker cpu is still definitely in. There are times when they have speed advantages, all loose pucks go their way which really destroys the idea that you can battle for the 50/50 loose pucks fairly. The way they take hits and retain possession is still there. Lots of this stuff has been in this series for ages.

Still, the skating is great, the game looks fantastic. I am certain though during offline play the stuff I mentioned will continue to be an annoyance. The new skating doesn't fix these issues. Looking forward to release though.

One more thing, on defense, my ai team mate no longer helps out by skating to the boards behind the net to create the option of passing off the puck when under pressure. Instead it seems to be a bit more chaotic on defense behind the net with ai team mates getting in the way and not skating to positions of advantage or help. This wasnt a problem last year. I hope the final version will have addressed it.

I would love to c a help d option like in FIFA. For those who don't play FIFA, a button is used to have an ai player on ur team press the the man with the ball, this could b used in hockey where u use it to send a guy into the boards to tie up/ pin and then u can use ur guy to anticipate where the puck will come loose along the board and make a play, just a thought.

Something will be broken always will be BUT even the most perfect and memorable sports game have those as well and this was before "patching" ever took place.

Patching has ruined and instilled an immediate "criticism" - like reaction almost instantly upon ANY play through of ANY game now... Its sad

JUST ENJOY!

Glad Dean Richards came back to the series.
