NBA 2K13 News Post

The '92 Dream Team & 2012 Olympic team will be featured in NBA 2K13. Charles Barkley is in, but Scottie Pippen couldn't get a deal worked out.

It's cool we get to battle it out between these 2 teams, but with Pippen off the roster, it puts a definite blemish on the announcement.

NBA 2K13 to Feature 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team and Legendary 1992 "Dream Team"

2K Sports proudly announces partnership with USA Basketball for NBA 2K13

2K Sports today announced a partnership with USA Basketball to feature both the star-studded 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team and the 1992 “Dream Team” in NBA 2K13, the next installment of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*.

“As executive producer, letting fans go head to head with these legendary USA teams was extremely important to JAY Z,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “We are excited to partner with USA Basketball, and share in JAY Z’s enthusiasm in making this a reality in NBA 2K13.”

The 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team has earned recognition as one of USA Basketball’s all-time greatest teams. NBA 2K13 cover athlete Kevin Durant helped lead the USA to its successful showing and joins the elite list of accomplished basketball players who have represented USA Basketball.

“It was an incredible blessing to have been part of the 2012 USA Basketball National Team,” said Durant. “USA Basketball's National Team legacy is incredible and so many of basketball’s all-time greats have been part of it, I’m just honored to be in that group. Like everybody, I can’t wait to see how our squad stacks up against the 1992 team in NBA 2K13.”

The original “Dream Team” is widely considered the most dominant sports team ever assembled, and featured 11 Hall of Fame players including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, David Robinson and Charles Barkley.

“The experience we shared in Barcelona is truly one of the highlights of my career,” said five-time NBA MVP and former NBA 2K cover athlete Michael Jordan. “Being able to represent not only my country but basketball as a whole is an honor that I will never forget.”

“The fantasy matchup between the legendary 1992 ‘Dream Team’ and the 2012 USA Men’s national team has become one of the greatest sports debates of our time,” stated JAY Z, the Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. “In NBA 2K13, we’re giving fans the opportunity to play as two of the best teams ever assembled in sporting history, literally putting the debate right into their hands.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio, NBA 2K13 is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available on October 2, 2012 in North America and October 5, 2012 internationally for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii™ system and Windows PC. I just heard no Pippen, a little late to the party. WHAT THE ****! Say goodbye to my purchase. I could never play as the Bulls without Pip. This is a serious misstep. A very big one imo. Now I am going to read this thread and see what others think lol. I am in complete shock. I had this as a purchase on PC but not until they make this right.

Anyway, not a big fan of those player models.

Put it in perspective:

Not everybody is going to play this, and the majority of you that do are going to spend no more than 6-8 hours of your time on NBA 2k13 playing dream team/olympic team games - but everybody will probably spend a good 15-25% of their NBA 2k13 time learning/using the new control stick.

Now if you have the rest of the Olympic teams from either 2012 or 1992....then this might be huge announcement worthy - It would be the same level as when they announced the Jordan challenges...
LOL. No they wont. I will use the buttons to shoot like I always will and will learn the dribble stick by playing games. I'm not going to spend any time learning the new controls.

God, I swear for as many of you that complain about 2k's marketing...you guys have NO marketing or PR skills. "NBA 2K13 : NOW WITH NEW CONTROLS!!!"

Then...why bother posting in a thread that focuses on a feature?

You should blame Scottie for not being there, not 2k! He wanted more money, likely more than 2k was willing to pay. Its also possible he didnt want to be apart of the digital Dream Team but his likeness is still in the classic teams.

The media is satisfied with the amount of info its getting. You arent. Its always a slow burn with 2k. We have 6 weeks til release. They will slowly release info like they always have,

Good for you but stop complaining like you are the majority or like the things you value are what most purchasers of 2k value.

The same people who were upset about Ronnie's hype during the Jay-Z announcement are here complaining about the hype for this announcement.

What did you expect? "@Ronnie2k The huge announcement is.....MANUAL BOUNCE PASSES!!!" Really?
Actually that tweet about passing that someone posted earlier DOES get some of us hardcore fans excited. To us, IMPROVED GAMEPLAY is a huge announcement, much bigger than the Dream Team inclusion.

Is it unrealistic to think that a "huge announcement" could be regarding a gameplay improvement? Some people on this forums are disappointed that the announcement doesn't have the substance they were hoping for. I think most people who think about it realize that the Dream Teams are just a gimmick to sell more games to casual fans.

Obviously 2k agrees because the show must go on, and a career 2nd banana is not going to stop it
We're just gonna have to agree to disagree. This is going nowhere 'cause you're not understanding the point in my post.

But I do agree him asking for more money is ridiculous. I'm sure ego is involved and the chip on his shoulder of always being Robin to MJ's Batman had something to do with it.

Again you dont fail to disappoint with some odd post

The Dream Team as Aaron said is the greatest team in the history of basketball and its a gimmick?

People have wanted these NBA PLAYERS in an NBA GAMES for years and now we get it and you can't get past the fact that a social media guy called it huge so now your boo boo hurts?

Man yall are some straight up comedians

I just edited that post, but I just don't think their faces are accurate, that's my opinion.

This was a big announcement, but most people are still waiting to hear if the servers are fixed, or is crew back. That would blow the lid off of 2k13. I'm probably wrong, but I don't know of another basketball game that has the dream team in it.

THE HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT IS CHARLES BARKLEY. That deserved all caps son.

Yes its unrealistic. Also that tweet you mention wasnt an "announcement." Someone asked him when the gameplay info would come out and he said September. He retweeted it so people wouldnt have to ask him again.

Again, you are the minority.

I loved those bulls teams but hoping the hex feature is still available and this one minute gripe is squashed in an instant

Ill create him if i have to either way

For whatever it's worth, I've used nothing but classic teams since April. And prior to that, it was just about an even split (between current and classics).

So everyone who is saying Pippen can be hexed in, its not guaranteed.
In 2k12, Van Exel couldn't come to an agreement with 2k to appear on the 97-98 lakers team, but he was still on the disk. He was hidden. Then the hex editors hexed him onto the 97-98 lakers team. Hopefully that what happens with Pippen if he doesn't appear on the classic bulls teams. But lets all hope that either 2k can keep trying to work out a deal with him, just like last year when they added LaPhonso Ellis late, and that he still appears on the classic bulls teams so we could add him to the dream team.

I'm actually on your side. I like gameplay news. I like watching developer insights. I just dont get mad when Ronnie2k announces something that is clearly for casual fans.

I'm not angered or anything.

This is good news I'm just not as excited as some of you guys
