Wait, y'all are really mad about this? I mess with Hov -- I wouldn't call it the biggest moment in 2k history but it is big in a sense. I won't go making excuses for them but I like Hov being a part of this.

Hip hop and basketball go hand and hand. I'm pretty sure 70-80% of the fans of basketball like hip hop. I'm glad we have someone like Jay on deck -- it beats the heck out of whatever this year's soundtrack. Most of the music on this year's game is corny IMO.

Edit: And this soundtrack looks TOUGH! I can finally listen to the menu music, lol.

Ok then. It's time for a poll because your statement is arbitrary. How are you pretty sure that 70%-80% of bball fans listen to hip hop?Nobody of my friends that love real basketball and videogame basketball listen to this music.Don't get me wrong though.Jay Z is good but having every year a 80% hip hop soundtrack is a bad decision imo.

Asking OS won't prove anything when it comes to who enjoys hip hop and basketball. Well, we can but I'm sure if we head to another board the scales will tip for hip hop. Something like that is community based -- OS doesn't seem like it has a strong hip hop community following. We have a good grip but its not like other boards where their entire music section is nothing but hip hop news. Then you have to think about all the people who don't visit forums -- Twitter is going crazy over this announcment -- I don't see many saying this is a bad move. The only people upset are the guys on the forum and we all know that we are the small percentage of 2k gamers.

Hip hop and basketball go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you take 1 million basketball fans, I'll stand by my numbers, I will say 700,000 people listen to hip hop -- even if its casual listening. But thats just my personal opinion.

Wow their biggest announcement was the soundtrack to the game well that sucks. I think 2K just annoyed a lot of people with this one.

Going crazy over this type of announcement is just..crazy.That's why most OS members are upset. It's not an adventure game or a rpg one where music has a deeper impact in gameplay. It's a sports videogame that needs gameplay innovations and ingame/on court presentation improvements.

Do you know that Jay Z didn't only hand pick the soundtrack but he also gave ideas on presentation? A celebrity basketball fan that has thrown concerts all over the world helping with presentation -- I'm sure he dropped some golden nuggets and some duds but hopefully his golden nuggets are something really special.

This doesn't get me hype (really wanted to CHoops but oh well) but I will look for the positives -- thats just me though.

I wouldn't call Nas, Biggie, Eric B and Rakim, and Mobb Deep fillers. Far from it. Victory, Public Service Announcement and Shook Ones are serious tracks. And "I ain't no joke" is a hip-hop classic. This is by far the best soundtrack in sports gaming history, in my opinion. I agree with you guys, I wish the announcement was more gameplay centric, but we all know 2K.They aren't going to announce gameplay until late August going into September.

This list sucks, coldplay wtf? That song sucks big time, it's doesn't even suit the game.

Jay z chose his own songs, Kanye and P diddy's songs, other friends he likes AND THEY ARE ALL OLD SONGS WHICH EVERYONE KNOWS. Where are the new and upcoming songs?

# 249 mdoud10 @ 08/01/12 07:43 AM
Looking back at it, we all were pretty stupid. If I hadn't discovered this website like two weeks ago and checked it religiously for that period of time, I wouldn't be let down by this announcement. I'm not complaining, because that is clearly my doing; Everyone should realize that this isn't 2K's fault (maybe just a little for saying "biggest announcement ever", but what do you expect?), but it is really our own for building everyone else's hopes up.

I understand that CHoops or 2k Football would be awesome; but we commited the worst crime of all:

Don't ASSUME; you make an *** out of U and ME

# 250 Gosens6 @ 08/01/12 08:21 AM
I tried to tell everyone for weeks that the announcement wouldn't be the return of a game or anything that huge. People got their hopes up for absolutely no reason.

That being said, this soundtrack looks AMAZING. I can't point out one bad song on it. This might be the best soundtrack in video game history. Kudos to Jay-Z for this track list

Oh cmon. I mean sure everyone that knew the 2k hype machine knew that the announcment would be something completely dissapointing. But don't act like this was hyped up by OS only. I'm a member of a few 2k communities and everyone was expecting the "biggest announcment in 2k history". And everyone is dissapointed.

Also acting like this is a big deal with Jay-Z "working" on the soundtrack. Jay-Z with his musical knowledge prolly chose the soundtrack in 5 minutes over the phone. Now if he made the music for the soundtrack that would be something, but choosing a few songs, that's hardly groundbreaking. Most of the people turn it off after a week or two and just listen to their I-tunes anyhow.

This would be a nice little (yes little) addition if it wasnt talked about.

THERE IS NO BIG ANNOUCEMENT ...its been confirmed already, wish people would just get over it.

As for this announcement..meh its cool, not really a fan of his but there are some nice tracks on there. Im more interested in knowing exactly what kind of input he gave for presentation.

# 254 bigfnjoe96 @ 08/01/12 08:43 AM
Anyone see the video for Justice-Stress? Not sure if it was mentioned already, I know videos are usually not indicative of a song, but the video to this song is..............

Spoiler

At first I was kind of mad but I'm a humorous person so now this shh is actually kind of funny to me lol, I mean some of you even went as far as to say "ehhhhhhh.......they might add college hoops to the game! No you get MJ announcing a jay-z soundtrack Lol........? You really cant blame them its all a sales pitch with all the announcements and I know everybody paid attention to that scheme they did trying to trend number 1 on twitter this is no different and they are masterfully advertising. I think NBA 2k13 will be great, they are showing to much confidence and being arrogant. Dam you TwoKay! Daaam, Daaam, Daaam!

# 256 funkworthy @ 08/01/12 09:28 AM
This is kind of huge as the music in 2k12 is monumentally obnoxious. It's like they scoured the bottom tier of major-label manufactured pop-punk, indie hip hop, etc and added throw away tunes from Lil Jon and Eminem and topped it with a charming old song by Kurtis Blow that slowly evolves into the worst thing you've ever heard. The best thing about 2k13 will be not rushing for the mute button before "they're playing basketball..." comes on.

Huge announcement.

# 257 STLRams @ 08/01/12 09:28 AM
Wow I'm shocked by some of the tracks there adding to the game. I'm a 20+yrs hip hop fan, but I totally understand if some aren't, sometimes it gets on my nerves also, but some of these songs are great and there are a couple of others songs that are nice also. These songs -
• Eric B. and Rakim: “I Ain’t No Joke”
• Nas: “The World is Yours”
• Roy Ayers: “We Live in Brooklyn, Baby”
• Mobb Deep: “Shook Ones, Pt. II”
• Kanye West: “Mercy” (feat. Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz)
• Jay-Z: “H.A.M.” (Instru
I want to thank 2K for adding these songs, they will sound nice playing int he menus and arenas

BUT THIS ONE - Puff Daddy and the Family: “Victory” (feat. Notorious B.I.G. & Busta Rhymes)
B.I.G. was a lyrical demon on that old song, Thanks 2K!

Now 2K release some videos and game features for us.

If I remember correctly, it was a comment a single marketing guy made at the end of an interview when the cover was announced. And people on the forums latched on to it and built it up. It wasn't as if there was some concerted effort by 2K as a company to bill this as "the biggest announcement in 2K history". If they had announced Barkley/Reggie Miller/Iverson would be returning to the game that would've been a disappointment. If they announced the return of College Hoops fully integrated into NBA2K that really isn't what many would say is the biggest announcement ever in 2K history. If they announced the Dream Team it would've been a disappointment.

The minute people tried to tie that comment to the announcement it was doomed from the start to disappoint. I really can't think of anything that's bigger than getting Michael Jordan. So people flipping out because they hyped themselves up/wanted to relive their childhood Christmas morning feelings of titillation can blame themselves. Getting Jay-Z is a big announcement. Biggest in 2K history? Of course not but chances were extremely slim that the announcement would ever be that to begin with.

So you agree that it's a mixture of 2k's knack for hyperbole, and people not learning from previous years of 2k's prerelease antics?

So, the announcement is Jay-Z and that is supposed to be the biggest announcement in 2k history?
I`m going back to sleep. Enough crap for today.
