I'm with you bro I was like wtf cuz I'm not even a huge JayZ fan either (2Pac) but we gotta look at this as not being geared towards us. JayZ brings money and dude is considered one of the best, to have his named stamped is huge for em. I'm praying like the rest of my brethren here that they got something in store as far as gameplay goes. Scratch that...man I just want online to work Please 2K!!!! lol

Why the heck is Coldplay's “Viva La Vida” on there? It is soooo played out. Maybe it's a Jay-Z remix like the Coldplay/Jay-Z - Lost remix. There should been at least one Lupe Fiasco song off his upcoming album (Food and Liquor 2 dropping Sept 25) on there.

It just so happens I've obtained an exclusive screenshot of the game.

Chalk me up as the disappointed department. This coming from a person who actually likes 2k12 and didn't think it was as bad as some people thought after the patch arrived.

Jay Z can add to the game, sure, but biggest announcement than Jordan on the cover? Not quite.

hype that shook ones, blow the whistle, and viva la vida is in there but this was admittedly underwhelming.

Well since one of the most complete athlete of all time was put in the game 2 years ago, this is a really ridiculous announcement that very little people would really care about.

I said many times that people will be disapointed, but I didn't think it would be to that extent. I don't even know who is Jay Z lol. Am a european and almost every singer I listen to is dead.

It's no big deal really, just something about a video game on the internet, but still 2K is not going the right way if they think this is a huge anouncement to their consumers.

They're obviously not aiming their product at us, SIM guys that care about their core game.

Tbh I'am really drunk right now, so that might not even make sense at all. Am jjust getting pretty tired of 2K and the way they advertise their game like we where little kids you can just obviously lie to. We notice 2K, we notice.

e/ Just voiced my opinion on the subject, won't do it anymore, not much point. 2K does what it want and how it wants, it just isn't gonna work for me.

So Jay-Z is gonna help 2K make 2K13? I find this actually worthy of big, it's our faults for believing it was "Biggest Announcement Ever" from some random 2K exec. but from Ronnie2K its just big. This is Jay-Z a fan and owner of a Basketball team, I hope he help with presentation since I think that will be a thing he can help with a lot, and the scoreboard in that video from E3 looks like crap, so I hope Jay-Z can touch it up. People hyped this one up and are bringing down before realizing, "Jay-Z, a fan of basketball, is the executive producer of THE ENTIRE NBA 2K13 game, not just music, not just the Brooklyn Nets design, THE ENTIRE GAME". I also hope Jay-Z can help with gameplay since he's a fan and he watches basketball, and with Chris Smoove getting to see and voice opinion on 2K13, I think this will be good. This is 2K13 being built by the biggest fans 2K could find and if Shady had the chance to go, this game would be great to 2K11 standard.

Note for future announcements: when an EXECUTIVE of a company says the biggest announcement of their company is gonna happen rather than a fan, don't believe that it's gonna be big.

I'm not all up in arms over this like most people, but it is 2K's fault they're receiving the backlash they're receiving. They didn't have to label this "the biggest announcement in NBA 2K history" or whatever, because that is just setting yourself up for failure. All you have to say is "NBA 2K13 announcement coming _____" and people will get hyped. No need for the "biggest announcement ever" stuff.

At the same time, people should be used to this from 2K. Most of us have followed every bit and piece of news released about these games for years. Most of us should know 2K is a major victim of hyperbole when it comes to their announcements or announcements about future announcements. That right there is exactly why I'm not even mad that this is what the announcement turned out to be. I seen that huge thread in here where everyone was speculating the most ridiculous things and knew people were going to be majorly letdown no matter what the outcome. Like I said, it's 2K's fault for the backlash but that doesn't mean people here aren't to blame either for getting themselves way too hyped up over a video game announcement.

As for the actual announcement, I think it's pretty cool. 2K has come a hell of a long way to be doing things like this, and 2K13 is easily going to have the best soundtrack the game has ever had. I just hope they don't ridiculously over-edit the songs (Fast Lane in 2K12 comes to mind).

Well, it's interesting. I love the soundtrack. He put some nice classics on there but it is slightly disappointing.

# 238 Ehud_Hapoel @ 08/01/12 05:02 AM
THAT'S IT?! why should we care???

# 239 IWWROCKS @ 08/01/12 05:04 AM
I think it's all about hype and using the right level. If they had just said "We have an announcement to make in a couple of weeks time, we think you'll like it" ...this thread would probably be filled with people praising 2k, saying it's really cool and they love it.

Because they used "Biggest announcement in history of 2k" they set themselves up. If your going to use that phrase you have to be CERTAIN it's going to be seen as a massive announcment to the majority. And for something non-gameplay and as subjective as music (I mean everyone has their own taste and not everyones will be this) there is no way they could of been sure of that.

I for one think this is great. It is a Big announcement. But if 2k had underhyped this one, and not overhyped, this thread would be the complete opposite of how it is now.

Are you effin serious... I already PLAY my own music while playing nba 2k... geeze talk about disappointed.

And Jay-z... damn he loves the sound of his own voice. He's a decent rapper who made a lot of money, but as someone who has never been able to top Reasonable Doubt I'm gonna be muting the music in 2k13 as well.
